Words.....

When you start your day with a grateful heart......the rest of the day seems to fall in love with you.

Our second grandson headed out this morning to begin his third semester in college.  I find myself always giving him great encouragement to never think of quitting.....to continue this part of his journey of obtaining the degree that he so desires.

This is what we as grandparents do.....we give our grandkids the support they need, and we give them words of wisdom, to inspire them to get a college degree.

Never quit...... !!!!!!    These two words are frequently used to give encouragement to ourselves or to others.

Is QUIT a bad word?   I thought about this and even though I think of this word mostly in a negative way, the truth is......Quit is a word which can improve or change our lives.

Here is a small list of words which need "Quit" in front of them.....

Criticizing, Gossiping, Complaining, Betraying, Attacking, Bullying, Cheating, Disappointing, Being a FAKE, Being Pessimistic, Two-faced, Judging, WORRYING, being Fearful, Dis-loyal.........and the list goes on and on!!!!

There are times when we need to use the word Quit and we need to be just as bold about sharing our "Quit" wisdom, as what we are in using the Never Quit wisdom.

                          Here is a list of words in which we can use "Never Quit" in front of...........

We all need the positive words in our lives......but lets face it, there are times when we must use the word Quit!

Dear sweet friends......You all are going to love me today!

Why?  Because I'm going to share a slice of "Delicious Chocolate Cake" with you.

Oh my goodness......the Best Chocolate cake!!  One of my Long-time friends made this cake for my in-laws 70th anniversary dinner.    Stacy has been making cakes for a very long time now and each one is super delicious!!    She is super talented...

Pull up a chair and have a slice of this cake with me.....I'll even serve you a cup of coffee, a glass of milk or a little Southern Sweet Tea!!!

                                                     ~~~~
Take a look at this..........................................     👀  2018 update on Sam's Lemon tree!!
I have no idea how old this tree is, but it produces so many lemons every year.
I've counted at least 48 lemons.   Just waiting on them to turn YELLOW.   The only issue is......They all turn yellow at the same time!!!!  48 lemons is a whole lot of lemons to ripen all at once.
                                                      ~~~~

Have your ever been Blessed by just simply meeting another person?  Of course.....we have all had these kind of experiences once or twice in our lives.

Just yesterday, I was spending some time with my girlfriends.  We actually got together for a swim day and some friend catch-up therapy!

I had the opportunity to meet a lady who is a friend of my friend.
Isn't that cool.....meeting friends of friends?

Within just a few minutes of conversation with this lady......I could feel a beautiful spirit inside of her.  It was as if I could feel the spirit of the Lord all around her.

What a lovely feeling this is.   Who knows....I may never see this lady again, but what a special impression she left upon my heart.

It is my understanding from my friend, that this lady has experienced the loss of three of her loved ones, in the past 6 months.  However....her light was shining in full force on a already sunny filled day.

Her positive character aroused my curiosity and what I was seeing was a beautiful soul radiating much kindness and compassion for other people.

She possessed such positive energy and a beautiful depth of true  joy and grace.

I was and I am truly Blessed.....

I think I'll write my own "Headline" for tomorrows news....

What will it say?

            TEXAS WOMAN TURNS 49 AGAIN

A wife, a mother of 2 and a spiffy grandmother of 6, has made captivating news.   This flashy, electrifying and trendy young lady has managed to beat the age game and is now turning 49 again as of Friday....August 24th.

For the past 16 years..... this lady has exhibited an energetic lifestyle, which turns back the numbers of aging.   Friends and family continue to be amazed by this fun-loving woman who lives life to the fullest.

She reports that this age thing is not about believing she can reduce the number of wrinkles nor count a few less gray hairs........by simply turning the clock back so she can be 49 again.    It's about enjoying life and staying young AT HEART.

Her advice is to smile often and laugh much.....  Enjoy all of God's beauty that surrounds you.....  Be remarkable with your attitude about life......fill your day with wonder......Spend as much time as you can with your grandchildren, after all, they will keep you young.....Trust the Lord....AND, always sprinkle glitter on your day!!!!

                                                  ~~~~~~~~
It is true.....I've NEVER been good at math!!  I think my mind goes into some kind of FOG FOREST when it comes to math.   I'm very good with the number 49, so until my Math skills change for the better......I'll be staying this age....... Why change something that you know and like?  If I were to celebrate a birthday without turning 49 again.....my kids and grandkids would think something was terribly wrong with me.....
Hope you all enjoy a wonderful afternoon and a fabulous tomorrow.
Hasn't it been a wonderful day?   LOTS of sunshine and a little hot breeze around here.
I so enjoyed my trip with Sam this past week to San Antonio.  Even though I did nothing but rest, it was an awesome week.
On our drive to SA last Tuesday, we got stuck behind this......
Can you guess?
A truck loaded with live chickens......    Needless to say, we had to back way off from this truck.  Our windshield was covered in White goo.....     Had to get that stuff washed off quickly!!!
                                                 ~~~~~

                          a little blurry because it's a copy from the original picture.

Sam and I enjoyed dinner at the "Tower of the Americas."

The food was fabulous....especially the Lobster Bisque.....and the evening view was gorgeous!!

I sure enjoyed this trip......

So Much to be thankful for today.....Thankful for this opportunity to spend time with my husband....Thankful for wonderful friends and a fabulous family.  Thankful for my grandson's healing from Leukemia (August 16th, 2006... he was diagnosed with Leukemia)... He is now a 6'1" strong, good looking young man.  He's getting ready to start his 3rd semester of college!!!  Thank you Lord for these Blessings.

It is a beautiful day here in the big city of San Antonio....  I had the opportunity to accompany Sam on this trip, to the big Nursery Convention located right here in SA.

I always enjoy coming with him to this show.  Any kind of plant or tree that you can imagine is on display at the show.

Big issue for me this year is that I actually can not go down to the convention center.    My Doctor gave me permission to ride with Sam down here.....but only to ride, sit and maybe hang out by the pool.   So...I'm being good and doing what the Dr. has told me to do.

Lots of rest, lots of TV watching, some reading and lots of computer work.   Hey.....this isn't so bad!!

I love the river walk.....It winds around the city with lots of trees and greenery every where.  Oh....and some awesome places to eat as well.   Thank goodness, many of the restaurants are only a block away.

In case you're wondering.....This has been a summer of repairs for me.    I had surgery on my eyes back in June, and just a couple of weeks ago I had some very detailed "Female" surgery.   I've been knowing for a couple of years that I needed this procedure done, but have been putting it off because of time and expense.   However, after having several bouts of serious pain, and already meeting my HUGE insurance deductible, my doctor and I decided that it was time!!!!

It's one of those surgeries where I get to be completely "Waited" on for about 8 more weeks!!  Hey, I'm good with that.   No bending over, no picking anything up.......just REST.

                                                   ~~~~~~~
Right now, I'm sitting here blogging and watching Chip and Joanna Gains..."Fixer Upper."   I really like this show and I ♥ Love Joanna's style of decorating.   If I could, I would totally shiplap our entire house!!!
These looks are totally ME!!!!!!   In love with the shiplap and I also love the WHITE!!
Hmmmmm......I just might have to do some decorating and Repairs at home!!
Have a Great and Fabulous day my dear friends...
I went to the Dr. today and I had lost about 6 pounds.   Now this my friends, is gooooood news!
Actually.....it's GREAT news!
My girls (both teachers) started back to school today.  This always makes me sad.  I enjoy them being home for the Summer.   We all enjoy each spending time together......whether it's out shopping, sitting  or swinging in the rock garden, or just hanging out in the kitchen.
I have no idea where this Summer has gone!  I'm telling you, it seems like the end of May was just here.    Our Summer has been so HOT and a bit miserable.  I think I'm ready for Fall.    Fall will be a Welcoming sight around here.
Well....I guess you could say it already is!!!   If we want it to be Fall or not.....the stores are making Fall come early with tons of artificial pumpkins and all kinds of Fall decor.
I know that our seasons are changing, but hey.......the stores have really got the seasons all messed up.
If you want a Christmas tree.....you can now buy it in July.   If you want bunny rabbits, then hold on to your britches, cause rabbits and Easter eggs will be everywhere by the first of January.
Same way with clothes.    The shelfs and racks at the stores are filled with coats, jackets, sweaters, sweat pants.....etc, etc, etc.    AND.....it's 104 degrees outside!!!   A couple of weeks ago, I went shopping for some short sleeved tops.   Nope!  Not much to offer out there.
Of course, so many people do all there shopping online now days, and I suppose you can buy anything you want to buy online.  It just so happens that I have one of those bodies that NEEDS to try  an item on!  I can't just order a particular size off of the internet and expect it to fit.  Doesn't work for me.
Well....it's 11:15 P.M. and this is LATE for me.   I'm a 9:00 go to bed person.   For some reason, I'm not sleepy tonight.   Thought that writing a blog post might make my eyes get heavy.   Not yet!!
Guess I'll go give it another try.....  Sleep well my sweet friends.....
Just this week, we have had the opportunity to celebrate two different birthdays for 2 of our grandsons.....
Carson......He is now a senior in High School...
Tucker......now in college and works part-time at a bank.
Carson turned 17 on Monday, August 6th and Tucker turned 20 today....August 12th.   What a wonderful Blessing these two guys are to Sam and I.
Ironically, both of these two grandsons are Type I diabetics.  When it comes to Birthday cakes.....we have to be very cautious about the sweet taste and the sugar.
I've wished them both Happy Birthdays......but what I really wish for is a Cure for Diabetes.   I've seen both of these young guys have good days and BAD days.  I've seen them have to alter plans and I've seen them have to decline certain things, due to their diabetes.
I pray for God's protection to be upon both of these guys.  I pray for them to make good, healthy decisions when it comes to taking care of their bodies.  I pray for a cure.....and I pray for them both to live long healthy lives.
I also pray for them to be a blessing to others...     Want you join me in wishing them both a Happy Birthday?
I love the rain and I love it even more when it rains on a hot summer day.   The past two days, we have had some rain.  It has left such a sweet fragrance in the air.    The temps have cooled down a bit and the plants seem to be shouting praise to the Lord.
I have kinda been "out of pocket" for about the past 10 days or so, and haven't even had a chance to step outside to water any of the plants in my yard.
Unfortunately,  I lost a couple of small plants...
One was a small butterfly plant that I just had not had a chance to plant in the ground yet.....the other was a hanging basket.  With the Texas heat, it doesn't take but a day or so for hanging baskets to dry out completely.   It doesn't take long for planted plants or trees to get to dry either.
There is nothing like the sound of a soft falling rain.
Today....I am thankful for answered prayers....
I am thankful for God's amazing grace.....
I'm thankful for the rain.....
and I'm thankful for each of you!
Yes....it's true!  The topic of my post today is not really important to anyone except for ME!  Oh... If my parents were living, they would have enjoyed seeing the pictures and reminiscing as well.
Just a picture of were I was Born!
This is my Birthday month.....August 24th to be exact.
This old place was once the Dr's office in the old town of Brownsboro, Texas.
My other siblings were born in hospitals, but I somehow only made it to the local Dr's office.
My mom has shared the story of this day with me many times....I was born in the afternoon and when it came time for the Dr's office to close for the day, the Dr. went home and left.....ME, my mom and dad to spend the night at the Dr's office!!  ðŸ‘€
Mother told me that my dad had to make a bed on the floor to sleep that night.  A blanket, a pillow and him!  AND.....I cried most of the night.   My poor mom!
LOL.....should I RENT it...???????
These are new pictures.....the current owners have redone the old place and they now have it for rent.
I was raised in the same town where this old Dr's office is located.  I currently live about 10 miles from the place.....  I just think it's neat that the place is still standing.
It sure is fun reminiscing about the happenings of the past!!
Have a great day!
Good afternoon to my sweet, sweet friends.   Just a short update on my guest blogger last week.  Mylee has now started her own blog!!!
Yay....MJ!!  I think this will be great for her!  It might take a little time for her to get all of the spelling, and the punctuation down right.    But hey....I sometimes make a mess of these kinds of things, myself.
You can find her @ http://Babyshugsjournal.blogspot.com
Hope you will check her out.....
                                                 ~~~~~~~

Oldest daughter, Trista....has been doing a little modeling for one of her friends who owns a shop here in town....

Just a few photos.....   It's fun times for her and it helps her friend Amber, when customers can see her products and how they look on a model.

Not much happening around this Piney tree area of Texas.   It's just HOT and dry.  Hoping for much needed rain this next week.

Everyone take care......
