Update to todays first post!!

**  Ok....y'all.....this was one of my Oops moments.....I was not finished with this post (small interruption) and it was not even suppose to post until later this week.....Guess what?  I pushed the wrong stinking button!  ha!

This may perhaps.....be a very strange question..

Do you have a BFF?  Best Friend Forever.

My sweet Sam, is without a doubt......MY VERY BEST FRIEND!     BUT, what I'm talking about is a friend other than your spouse....someone that you could definitely call your BEST FRIEND?

Is there someone in your life that you grew up with and have always been Best Friends with?

Or...What about having a one-sided Best Friend relationship?  A relationship where you might really consider someone to be YOUR BEST FRIEND....however, these feelings are not felt as deep by the other party.

Oh well....I won't even bother to finish it....but do tell.....

Do you have a Best Friend other than your spouse......and what is it that really makes this relationship special?

Or....do you have a one-sided BF relationship!!

So thankful that I didn't post one of my
(Vent writings..) that only goes in my own special file for a few days and then is deleted!!!  You know....those kind that allows you just to get things off your chest!!

Y'all just pray for me and my crazy TOO BUSY moments!

Wonderful Story......

While scanning through my messages yesterday, I came across this.......It really touched my heart and so I wanted to share this with all of you!  Many of you may have already seen it, but if so...it's worth reading again....     Thanks James for letting me borrow this!!!!

Why dogs have a shorter life span than Humans?  (Answer from a 6 year old)

Being a veterinarian, I had been called to examine a ten-year-old Irish Wolfhound named Belker.  the dog's owners, Ron, his wife Lisa, and their little boy Shane, were all very attached to Belker, and they were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Belker and found he was dying of cancer.  I told the family we couldn't do anything for Belker, and offered to perform the euthanasia procedure for the old dog in their home.

As we made arrangements, Ron and Lisa told me they thought it would be good for six-year-old Shane to observe the procedure.  They felt as though Shane might learn something from the experience.

The next day, I felt the familiar catch in my throat as Belker's family surrounded him.  Shane seemed so calm, petting the old dog for one last time, that I wondered if he understood what was going on.  Within a few minutes, Belker slipped peacefully away.

The little boy seemed to accept Belker's transition without any difficulty or confusion.  We sat together for a while after Belker's death, wondering aloud about the sad fact that animal lives are shorter than human lives.  Shane, who  had been listening quietly, piped up, "I know why."

Startled, we all turned to him.  What came out of his mouth next stunned me.  I'd never heard a more comforting explanation.  It has changed the way I try and live.

He said, "People are born so that they can learn how to live a good life -- like loving everybody all the time and being nice, right??

"Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don't have to stay long."

Live simply,   Love generously,  Care deeply,  Speak kindly,

Remember, if a dog was the teacher you would learn things like:

When loved ones come home, always run to greet them.

Never pass up the opportunity to go for a joyride.  Allow the experience of fresh air and the wind in your face to be pure Ecstasy.

Take naps...

Stretch before rising.

Run, romp, and play daily.

Thrive on attention and let people touch you.

On warm days, stop to lie on your back on the grass.

On hot days, drink lots of water and lie under a shady tree.

When you're happy, dance around and wag your entire body.

Delight in the simple joy of a long walk.

Be loyal.

Never pretend to be something you're not.

If what you want lies buried, dig until you find it.

When someone is having a bad day, be silent, sit close, and nuzzle them gently.

Enjoy Every moment of every day.....

"The Cutest Favor"

It's a perfect "Party Favor" for a child's school Easter party......

There was a Party going on this morning at Mylee Jo's preschool and this is one of the favor's that she came home with....

Isn't it adorable?

A Yoohoo can....turned upside down.   I think it was turned upside down so that the drinking end would not have the dried glue on it.  Of course you could use any type of drink can.  Wouldn't a pink lemonade can be cute?

The head is just a clear cup with a round piece of white cardboard glued to the top.  The ears are the same {a piece of cardboard} with a piece of pink felt cut out and placed on the
cardboard.

It's filled with popcorn, but this would be so simple to fill with pink M&M's or any other type of candy.  {oh yes....fill the cup before you glue the white round lid on}

The eyes are glued on as well as the nose and the whiskers.  On the back {sorry...I forgot to take a picture} there is a white cotton ball glued on as the bunny tail.

Makes for a cute and inexpensive gift!!

D-Lay? Maybe!

Good Morning!

According to the weather man, our Night Time Egg Hunt may have to be put on hold.

Rain is in the forecast for Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday!  This means that the Easter Bunny will more than likely be inside protecting her fluffy do, while trying very hard to encourage the little chicks to D-lay this years egg hunt.   If all my darlings insist on me having this EGG-citing event......then they may have to endure the rain.   Guess it would then be called a "Night Time Egg Hunt in the Rain."  Hey.....it would definitely be a new experience!!

Family traditions like this, helps to form strong bonds..... which creates many memories that will last a life time.  I can tell you that our night time egg hunt is a thrill that our kids always look forward to.  The fun we have had and the fun that is still to come, will forever be embedded in the hearts of our children and YES....even the grown kids as well.   Who knows....maybe in years to come.....this tradition will be passed on and on for many generations.

Delight yourself in this Happy Day!!

Don't Forget to Listen....

I really do want to be a good listener, but sometimes I get in too big of a hurry to hear what GOD is saying to me.

Am I alone here?

There are a WHOLE LOT of times when I do hear.....but I quickly make the decision to do things my way!  Sound familiar to anyone?

Not only am I guilty of not being a good listener, but I engage in trying to be the one in control......My heart knows that I need to give everything to God, but my mind is saying
"Let me handle this Lord and if I mess up, then you can take over."

OR.....how about this...

"Lord, I am placing my future in your hands....BUT...this is what needs to happen.

I trick myself into believing that I am trusting GOD with the details of my life, when I am really fighting hard to be in charge and tell HIM what I want done.

Then...there is this...

"Your will be done Lord....but I just want you to be aware that I am not going to be HAPPY until you do things my way"

{I would certainly hate to see the mess I would be in if God put me in charge}

I honestly have to laugh at myself sometimes.....

God never gives up on me....even when I fail to listen, even when I fail to follow.....HE watches over me.  I love it when the Holy Spirit corrects me when I get off track.

There is an Amazing day ahead....May you all be Blessed!

Trusting in Paper....

Some People are SO POOR.....All they have is MONEY!

Interesting quote isn't it?  A true quote!!

******

This past evening, we attended home groups through our church.  Let me explain.....a couple times a year, we as a congregation, sign up to attend different home groups at the homes of those that are hosting the meetings.  It's an excellent way to be able to fellowship with people in the church that we might or might not normally have contact with.

Not only do we gather and EAT, but there is always a selected study that each group does in unison.
This time, our study is "The Christian Atheist" by Craig Groeschel.

Isn't this an ODD title?   I had many questions about the title of this study because it sounds so contradicting, BUT...the author does an excellent job of explaining what he is talking about.

Believing in God.....But Living as if HE doesn't exist!

Admitting we know God, we believe in God.....but living the way we want to live with no consideration for God's word.

This weeks study was on BELIEVING IN GOD BUT TRUSTING MORE  IN MONEY!

I have found myself on numerous occasions, treading in the depths of these muddy waters.  Not trusting God for the things in my life!  More so.....not being content!!   Ouch, it hurts to admit this.

It is way too easy to worry about the deposits in our bank account, rather than to consider our deposits of goodness in giving back to the world.

Does money really make us happy?   This is certainly a loaded question.......most of us, without a doubt would say YES to this question.  Sure, it would nice to wake up each morning knowing that we can start our day with no debt, no utility bills, plenty of food, and being able to purchase all the desires of our heart.

REALLY???

No....it's the last part of that statement that I'm talking about.   Being able to purchase anything that we wanted.  This might be fun for a short while, but in time......we would wake up each day with NO contentment, because things DO NOT BRING US HAPPINESS...

As I sit here writing this, I have to ask myself if I have done any justice to this message.....maybe not, but I do know that I was encouraged by the study last night and I want to learn to be more CONTENT IN MY OWN LIFE.

I do not want my Trust to be in a piece of paper with numbers written on it.  I want my total trust to be in GOD

Hope you all have a Blessed day

The Best Things In Life......

The Best things in life are free and all we have to do is to be open to the goodness that is all around us.

Today....is a wonderful day here at the Pollard home!  Nothing special is going on and we didn't win the Power Ball..(got to play to win).....BUT....we did wake up breathing this morning and this makes for a wonderful day.

Our Sunday School Class was FULL and many of us shared with the class about the miracles that God has performed in our lives or in the lives of those we know.   Church was Awesome!  We have the greatest Pastor ever!!!   He is truly a man of God and he loves to share God's word.

I'm sitting here right now, enjoying the company of three super important guys in my life...   Sam (the best husband in the world) is engaged in some deep sleep right now...You know, the kind where the sound of snoring takes over and we all just laugh on go on....... My other two guys {Tyler and Tucker} are watching "Wild West Alaska" and I am full of happiness and smiles as I listen to them laugh and giggle about the people and the contents on the program.

Oh.....and it's cold outside!!  The sun is shining, but the wind is so sharp and cold.   It's the kind of day that makes you want to stay inside and EAT all kinds of great foods...   As a matter of fact, I'm going to be fixing some delicious corn filled cornbread and a cola cake here in about 5 minutes.  Both sound so good!

This is what's happening around our place....Hope the rest of you are have a nice peaceful day as well...

Sweet hugs to you all...

Counts are in....

The Counts are in.....

Thank you for all your prayers......and many thanks to ALL who helped to make this event a success.  The dollar figure is not final, but I will post this amount as soon as it is all in.

Many lives will be touched by the money raised from this year's "Free Throws For Souls" event, and I just want to give Praise to the Lord for Tom's determination and his faithfulness to God.

Blessings....

A Long Road Ahead

Free Throws for Souls update....

We are now in our 9th hour....Tom is shooting more than 700 shots each hour and he is averaging close to 67 percent of the shots going through the hoop each hour!!  Only 15 hours to go.....

            *******

Tom still has a long road ahead of him.....Tonight when we all are resting well in our comfortable beds, he will be shooting a basketball straight into a hoop and along beside him will be two or three rebounders, plus a counter.....

This is what I call SACRIFICE!

I can promise you that Tom's feet are going to be tired...his arms will feel heavy....his grip will become weak and he will begin to feel his limitations.   He will more than likely feel the pain for many more days ahead.

The good news is......GOD IS HIS STRENGTH.

Be of good courage, He shall strengthen you.
Hope in the Lord, He will see you through!

God will fight the battle during Tom's weak moments....God will carry him through.

Thank you Lord!

3rd Annual Free Throw For Souls!!

We are all so excited about an event taking place tomorrow......March 22, 2013!!

It's time for the 3rd annual......

FREE THROWS FOR SOULS!!

Many of you may recall my last year's post about this event....

Our son-in-love......Tom Booth will be shooting free throws for 24 straight hours!

It all starts in the morning and he will finish up Sat. morning around 8:00 A.M.

Last year, the event raised "right at $11,000," and he made 12,393 free throws out of 19,000 shots, or about 65 percent.      That was up from $6,000 raised the first year.

The money raised goes to GOD'S OPEN HANDS.....to feed the hungry ....AND to a missionary (John Williamson) who does work in the Ukraine.

Tom has a special gift of playing basketball and shooting free throws, and it is his desire to use these talents to further God's Kingdom..

Please be in prayer with us for Tom to have the endurance he needs to shoot for 24 hours straight.

I can't wait to see what God is going to do this year!

hugs,
Shug

March Road Trip.

Hello friends.......we are home!   We just returned from a quick road trip to Monroe and West Monroe, Louisiana.

Sam and I love to shop for Antiques and so do our good friends, Marsha and Joe.   It's so much fun to plan a weekend road trip to explore the buried treasures that are hidden in a lot of small towns.

This time we chose to double our fun by making a trip to "Duck Dynasty Country" to visit the Robertson's and to shop at Antique Alley.

While we were not able to join the Robertson's for dinner, we did manage to drive up into their driveway and capture a few photographs of their home place.  How sweet of them to let us do so.

We also took in a great movie....."Safe Haven" ......Loved this moved......tears and all.    Yes, I did cry!!   I would highly recommend this movie if any of you need to have a good cry.

Food?  Yes....we enjoyed some delicious food, served up by the chefs at ....The Warehouse # 1 ......Olive Garden.....I Hop.....and at a cute little cafe, located at the South end of Antique Alley.
Great Food!!

On our travels home, we just so happened to run across an auction being held in some little {off of the main road} town.  We must have been there for at least a couple of hours and when we left.....our vehicle was PACKED.  Just can't beat a good auction, especially when good things go for cheap prices!!

What a great weekend!!

Just For Fun.......

Ok....you all are gonna think this girl has lost her mind....Better yet, you're gonna think that I'm pretty desperate for something to blog about!

While the first statement might be TRUE, the second one is anything but true.  I Do have much to blog about!  Oh yes....I really do have much to say, but sometimes some of my thoughts are better being left in the draft section.  Especially when it comes to government issues, the leaders of our nation......  OR.....when it comes to understanding the way people in general think these days!

Moving on to another topic here.....

If you could choose, to do one crazy thing today.....JUST FOR  FUN..... What would it be??

I would love to go Sing!!    I would love to step out into the middle of crazy filled, multi-level mall, with a good microphone and just sing my heart out!!

"The colors of a rainbow....so pretty .....in the sky
Are also on the faces....of people....going by
I see friends shaking hands.....saying....how do you do
They're really saying.....I love you

It's a Wonderful Life!!

How awesome would that be??  and after I sang a few more songs.....I would then burst out into the hip hop dance...."The Harlem Shake"     Why not?  This seems to be the "Thing" these days          and   .......OH YES I WOULD!!

This is Tyler and his baseball team......doing the Harlem Shake.....

I know NOTHING about music....I can NOT sing.....my grandchildren even cover their ears when I try to sing the words to "O' McDonald Had a Farm" with them!!   You get my point??
However, I have had lessons doing the hip hop dance!!  Many to be exact....

Now....tell me what your fun thing would be???

Believing In yourself

Is your life like a spoon full of sugar? Do you move along in life with a gentle walk of ease?  Have you been able to accomplish the things that are important to you in life?  Are you successful?  OR...... DO YOU LACK THAT CONFIDENCE THAT YOU NEED in order to achieve your goals?  Are you a constant complainer? Do you lack self Belief?

So often....people give up... way too soon.  They simply fail to realize ALL that they CAN BE.
This does not only apply to the younger generation....there are plenty of older adults that have simply not invested enough into believing that they can achieve.  They sale themselves short!!

It's as if we fail ourselves.....because we cannot BELIEVE in ourselves.

*Confidence is Preparation for one's SUCCESS!

God.....in all of HIS Excellence, His Perfection......made each and every one of us to be unique individuals. The bible scriptures tell us that we are "Fearfully and Wonderfully made"....{Psalm 149:13}

How Awesome is this?  WE ARE FEARFULLY AND WONDERFULLY MADE!!!!!

It is when we allow ourselves to see HIS perfect love for us, that we can find the contentment that we need to be all that HE made us to be.

We are GOD's Masterpiece!!

We need to honor God by Believing that we can!
"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me"  Philippians 4:13

Clocks are RIGHT now!

Well.....how are you all doing with the time change?

Nothing changed around here this morning....Our church members did not change their clocks until after service today.  No one was too late and no one was too early!!  Worked out great!  We still got out at 12:00.........1:00 for those of you that were already in the time change.

Not to worry though....our clocks are all set to the right time NOW.

My eyes are super heavy right about now.  I think I could use a little siesta....ok, maybe a big one.

It's Spring Break around this place, so this means....no alarms tomorrow morning, no alarms for the six days following.  No getting up to feed the precious little faces that show up at our home every single morning.

And.....the good part is that I don't have any appointments scheduled for this next week..  I super love it!!  I'm FREE!
I'm retired for a week.....

Let me tell you.....that two mile walk that I just completed this afternoon,  is kicking me right about now!   Guess this is why I'm so sleepy!! It sure felt good, but I now have a sinking feeling.  I can truly say that I'm not a huge fan of exercise walking, but it is something that I need to be doing on a daily basis!

I honestly do feel a snore coming on!!

Before I sign off for the evening, let me say:

Thanks to all of you who sent your prayers for Tyler's college entry exam.  He feels very comfortable about his knowledge with the contents of the test.  Praying for some great scores!

See ya tomorrow!

Spring Forward and More

As you all know.....we celebrated Tyler's 17th birthday this past Tuesday... March 5th.

I'm not sure which one enjoyed the party the most......Mylee  or Tyler?  The red velvet cupcakes were pretty good!!

So hard to believe how fast they grow up.   This morning, Tyler is on his way to take his first college entry exam....Praying he does super well on this test!

His plans are to pursue the field of being a "Male Nurse Anesthetist"........   Woo Hoo!!

                                                 **********

Yep.....it's time to Spring forward on the clocks.....

I know our Bose clock radio will be happy to be back on time.  When the time changes in the Fall....we never change this particular clock!  Why?  I don't know Why!!   Keeps our minds thinking when we check the time on the Bose....
Mind therapy so to speak!!

                                                 ********

Excited to be attending a baby shower for our niece this morning....    So happy for she and her husband.   As many of you may remember, Sam and her husband loss their precious baby girl (Zoey Kate) back in July of last year.

At the time of Zoey's home going, Sam had found out just a few weeks prior, that she was expecting again!  Thank you Lord for this Blessing....

So.....I am thrilled to be celebrating in this special event with Samantha....I pray blessings for her sweet family.

These are the going on's at our place this morning...

Happy Saturday to you all!!

Blooms are everywhere.

Blooms are everywhere......

The Bridal Wreath ...also known as spirea, is bursting forth this year with the most beautiful clusters of tiny white blooms.

I do love this bush and it's massive growth each year, but....the blooms just do not last long enough.  Don't get me wrong....I am very thankful to see them bloom each year, but just like the Dogwood tree, I would love for the blooms to hang around a while longer.

This is one of my all time favorites.....the gorgeous strands of Carolina Jasmine.  I love the sweet fragrance of this climber and the gorgeous yellow blooms bring much happiness to my soul.

This flower is absolutely stunning in any landscape.

The Redbud trees are opening up with their tiny blooms and are bringing us much beauty...  This time of the year, these trees really do pop out in the landscape of an almost.... all..... brown..... background of trees that are still in the dormant stage of life....

I do believe that spring is on it's way.....

                                                 ******
**NO PICTURES of  snakes from this gal..... but be warned.....when the flowers and trees start to bloom......the snakes come out as well...   YIKES!   I'm scared of em'.......

Hope you all have a "Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious" Beautiful kind of day....   which is.... an "indescribable" kind of beautiful day!!

The aroma of warm, buttery.........

It's a sweet morning here in Shug land.....Monkey bread is in the oven right now and our home is filled with the aroma of warm, buttery, cinnamon bread.

Ooops.....give me one moment! ..............................................   And now it's ready to eat!

                                                         ****

The temps are suppose to reach into the 70's today and the sun in scheduled to shine brightly.  You just have to love Texas weather....We never know what we're gonna get.

My hair is gonna to be "refreshed" this morning!!  Woo hoo...
this means....no more gray roots for a few weeks.  Really makes a girl feel GREAT when her hair is freshly highlighted.

The Lord blessed me with a good night's rest and I feel great this morning....

Oh Happy Day!!

Blessings Y'all.....

I still do not know....

Geez......I cannot believe that after 3 years of blogging, that I still DO NOT KNOW much when it comes to the world of technology.    I am OK at the everyday stuff, but when it comes to something new....I have to almost see it to understand IT!

I am way behind on upgrading my blog and being able to use some of the simple things that you all use everyday.  SO.....my question is:  Who out there is willing to teach me some of these simple things??

My post yesterday was about age and how I believe you are as old as you feel.....Today, when it comes to learning the new things about technology, I feel very aged!  I think it's because I don't really understand the terminology of some of these things...
When I say I don't understand, this also means that I have to be told exactly.....which buttons to click.

Thank goodness, I did finally learn how to turn off word verification a year or so ago.....but now I am stuck because I don't understand how to use EMAIL to my advantage.  Email as in being able to get notices of comments left and as in being able to go directly to your email address to leave a message for you.

Are you ready for this one?  I also do not know how to put the (click here) button in any of post in order for me to take you to another site.  I have noticed that several of you do this and I am impressed....I just do not know how to do it!

And last (for today).....how does one go about adding signatures and all the cute stuff to your blog??

If any of you are willing to help me....please drop me a note at      sapco5@earthlink.net
I would love to hear from you and get your help!!     Sounds like I might need to invest in a blogging class (if there is such a thing)

LOVE TO YOU ALL....

Aging is an attitude...

First things first.......Happy 17th Birthday to our grandson....Tyler

Time passes so fast.....especially as we watch our babies grow up!

************

Isn't it funny how when you are 17...you just can't wait for that 18th birthday....and then we become so eager to celebrate that big number (21) the one that kinda confirms that we are an adult...

We age each year, and it's not really a big deal until you reach that over the hill birthday.  You know, the big 40.

After that.....we have a tendency to want to chain ourselves to this number....40.
I think we automatically assume that the good life....or the BEST of life is now gone.

Rarely will we find anyone who just can't wait to blow out the candles on what we all
consider to be the SUNSET birthdays.  Most of us are afraid that we won't have enough breath in us to even attempt to blow out the 50, 60, 70, 80, 90 candles that might adorn our birthday cakes in the years to come.

I think old age is an attitude......!!  My High School classmates are all turning 60 this year....but NOT ME!  I say that we can all be as young as we feel and for this reason, I'll be turning 49 AGAIN.

What really matters, is when we can celebrate each year with the attitude of thanking GOD for another year, and by asking HIM......what it is that HE wants us to do for HIM during each particular phase of our lives.  How can we serve HIM.

No matter our age.....we each can determine to live each day.....Praising God and Thanking Him for his Mercy and His Grace.....and for giving us life each new day.

Have a Sweet Day...

Get out of the Junk Drawer.

How many of you have a junk drawer!   I'll be first to raise my hand to this question.  It's hard for me to believe that even the most talented organizer doesn't have at least one junk drawer.   Everyone NEEDS one!   ??????
OK....I'll admit it.....I have more than one!!!   I probably have three or four.  If I lose something, I can usually find it in one of these drawers.

How about your garage?  Is it clean and organized?   Our garage could be in the running for "The Cleanest Garage Contest"........at least one or two times a year.  That would be on the VERY DAY that we clean it.  How humorous is that?   We work hard to clean it and within days it starts to stack up again.

And then..... you have the sock eater?  Does he ever show up at your house!  He stops in here on a regular basis.   Chews those smelly buggers right up and never spits em' out!  They are gone
F-O-R-E-V-E-R....

My mom always told us kids....."A place  for everything and everything in it's place."  ????? I've gotta do better...

Did you know that God is the master of organization?   God knows where we are at...He knows where we are going.....    When we jump into a junk drawer, He is right there....with HIS Grace....waiting on us to cry out when that drawer is squeezing us so tightly and we don't know what else to do.   HE knows the exact place that we need to be.  HE knows how to organize our lives.  He graciously wraps HIS arms around us and gives us the assurance that we are needed.  We are important.

God knows where we are and He is always beside us....longing for us to speak His name!   We are God's children and HE longs to USE us each and every day.....

Thank you Lord!!

Blog Quitter?????

I have not become a Blog Quitter!!

I have not had one single thing to Post about!  How sad is that?  Honestly, I have not even had enough time to take a single shot with my camera...  The only news around here that I could talk about was sick kiddos.

This past week was kinda like a big blur....The flu bug is still showing it's ugly face around here, or should I say it WAS showing it's ugly face....This past Monday, Tucker was still home with the flu....on Tuesday, I had Tucker and Tori at home and then later, Trey had to be taken to the doctor and he had the flu.   Three grandkids home Sick!

I am so very thankful that I am able to be at home to take care of the kids when they are ill....

Lysol is the new fragrance in our home these days!!

Thank goodness.....they are all feeling much better and all three will be back in school tomorrow!!

I expect this next week to be a good one!!

Talk to you all then!!
