You can really be creative when mixing colors...and did you know that warm colors actually mix very well with cool colors?

Black, Red, yellow, white.....and I would not hesitate for one moment to throw in some colors of light turquoise....

My personal color wheel is not at all afraid to be a different....I like different things!!

Not only do I like to mix colors, but I think you can definitely define your personality when you mix designs and shapes of all kinds...

In any particular room of our home, you might find a huge mixture of florals, pok a dots, stripes, checks and numerous designs, spattered here and there...

Go ahead....don't be afraid to MIX!!

Anything goes these days....it's up to you1
Whatever it is that makes your heart sing, is exactly what you should surround yourself with....

Just have Fun!

Mix it Up...

Our lovely Antique  sign that hangs near the back
door.....

There is no telling how many folks have driven up the driveway and seen this sign, only to wonder if
"Antiques" live here.....

Funny isn't it??

Speaking of antiques....

What would one consider an antique store to be?
Perhaps, a business that sells antique items??  How old does an item need to be, before it qualifies as an antique??

These are just a few of the questions that Sam and  I had to ask ourselves yesterday....

I know you have heard of "Rants and Roses" before....Well, this post is not intended to be a RANT...but it definitely is not a ROSE either...
Let me just call it a Rose without fragrance!!

Sam and I drove to "Grapevine" yesterday, with the intentions of shopping at some of their antique shops....

Oh....we did do our research before making this trip...BUT, either we were in the wrong city of Grapevine, or some of the antique shops failed to mention that they no longer carried antiques in their shops.

I suppose, one shop qualified as an antique store because it had (1) one... old bicycle on display.
Other shops had fewer than 10 or 12 antique items all together...

Honestly....In many of the stores, their Antique Sign, was the oldest thing around....
As a matter of fact, I don't even think that the shop owners were would qualify to be antiques.

Most of the items were craft items and a good many of them had been purchased and was in the booths for resale!

Big disappointment!  With all this said, we are going to do some more research to try to find some OLD antique shops, located in the beautiful city of Grapevine Texas...

BTW...I must say, this would be a great shopping trip for a bunch of girl friends...GREAT girls weekend away!  If you want bling, you will find it...if you want unusual clothing, it is there.  Just don't go looking to find any cheap deals on old vintage items...

Oh well....another weekend....and more antique stores are waiting to be found!!

Enjoy the rest of your Sunday!

Shug the Boog!   this is what my grandchildren would say!!

Whats In A Dream.....

Good Night and Sweet Dreams....what a very nice thing to hear as your head hits the pillow at night...

This morning, I spent about 15 minutes telling Sam about my "last nights dream."

Dreams:  what is the definition of dreams?

A series of thoughts, images, or emotions occurring during

sleep and especially during REM sleep.

Well...I can tell you for sure, that I have been

getting way more than my share of REM

sleep!!

For the past couple of weeks, I have had some

of the weirdest dreams.  Take for example,

last nights dream.......without going into

lengthy details, this was one of those dreams

that makes you overwhelming happy, when

you finally wake up and realize that it is just

a dream!!!!!

I wouldn't call it a nightmare, but just a

dream that is unpleasant and leaves you

questioning what it was all about.....

Take a look at this....can you believe there is

such a thing as a  .......

"Dream Dictionary for Dummies?"

I should check into this.....Maybe I can

somehow figure out what all is going on in

this precious mind of mine....Sam says that

I must have some deep seeded fears about

something.....?????

I like to dream, but if I'm gonna dream, then

I would prefer to dream about things that

make me rest well......

How about you guys????   Do you dream?

Have a great evening....

A Wonderful Event

Showers, Sunshine, and Spring Flowers!

This was the theme for this years BVT Ladies Spring Luncheon.    I was Blessed, with an invitation to attend this wonderful event.  It was held, last Saturday, April 21st....at the Breckenridge Village of Tyler...

I would love to introduce you to one of my very dear friends......Linda Taylor.
Linda is the BVT Director of Development, and her love for this place speaks very loud and clear through her deep dedication for the position that God has placed her in...

This lady is always wearing a beautiful smile!

The speaker for this event was Colleen Swindoll Thompson....she is the daughter of Chuck and Cynthia Swindoll....

Colleen's third child, Jonathan (14) has multiple and complicated disabilities.  As many of you already know, BVT is a special needs home, and Colleen shared from her heart, what it has been like in her own life to have a special needs child.

If anyone is interested, you can follow her blog at insightforliving.typepad.com/specialneeds/

Colleen is very authentic, funny, honest, and she deeply cares for others in need.

I want to share with you, a few pictures from this event...

a gorgeous arrangement on the table, located in the entryway of BVT chapel.

This table was designed by another one of my very good friends...Arlene Taylor..
Beautiful table!

Lovely in Pink!!!

I thought this centerpiece was unique and so lovely...

For all my bird-loving friends...check out this arrangement...the florist did an excellent job suspending the bird cage from the tree branches..

And....these dishes....absolutely gorgeous!

Sunbeams of Happiness....

"Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever."
Psalm 118:29

I simply adore the sunbeams of Happiness!!

It's the little things, like my tomato plants that permit me to see those beautiful sunbeams that bring me joy...

Happiness comes, when I gently run my hands across the mint that is planted in my washtub garden.  The fragrance is wonderful and the taste of mint in my "Southern Ice Tea" just makes for a bright sun shiny day....PERFECT!

God's hands have touched each bloom!

Recognizing OR ignoring these sunbeams of happiness, is up to us.

                                        ~ ~ ~

Dear Lord....
I have so much to be thankful for.  My list of daily blessings is never-ending.  May I never fail to praise You for the many blessings that you have given me...
Amen..

Enjoy your day, sweet friends!

Right Equipment Needed

Here I go again....Opening up my brag book and hoping that you all will find my grandson (Tyler) just adorable as I do....

This past Tuesday night was the last baseball game of the season, for the Brownsboro Bears.

As I sat there and tried to watch the game, my thoughts were engaged in just how difficult it must be to wear ALL of the required catching equipment....

I wouldn't be able to stand up and I for sure would not be able to get back down. My goodness, the helmet alone would give me a big case of claustrophobia...

You can't do this job without wearing the vest, the shin guards or the face mask....Just wouldn't be wise not to have these on!!!

I would think that with a ball heading toward you at the speed of 75 miles per hour, one would definitely want to be covered....

Now...you know me!  In just a matter of moments, my thoughts changed from the equipment that my grandson was wearing, to thinking about the equipment required in our spiritual lives.

We need the Bible to teach us about God's word.  We need the Holy Spirit to give us direction and to comfort us...We need the whole armor of God covering us each day...We need our church and our church family...

These are just a few of the things that we need in order for us to have an intimate relationship with the Lord...

God provides us with everything that we need...it is up to us to use the equipment....

Thanks for allowing me to share my thoughts with each of you.  Guess it's time for me to get back to my BRAG BOOK!!

Hugs and O's

My Word for The Day....Celebrate!

If I were choosing a word to concentrate on today, I believe my special word would be
CELEBRATE.....

We have so many amazing things to celebrate...
I celebrate LIFE!  Waking up each morning, knowing that my day will be filled with many blessings, given to me from my Heavenly Father, that Loves me so very much

I choose to celebrate family.....My wonderful husband that loves me with all his heart....all of the precious darlings that I love so dearly and many others that know me as their mom, daughter, grandmother, sister, and aunt...
I love these people!!

I love to celebrate friends.....New and old.

AND....

how about those things that bring me happiness?
Like....

Clean, fresh sheets!  Lunch with a dear friend!
My Faith and my Church family!
A garden of flowers and fruits...ice cold coke, me time, baseball, sonic tea with extra ice, dreams and memories, etc, etc, etc.

I also choose to celebrate our home and the love that surrounds each of us!

(I made this arrangement of flowers for Homecoming Sunday at our church)

And, my day would not be complete if I did not celebrate the gifts that God has given me!

God has given each of us, beautiful talents.
We just need to put our talents into action and ask HIM for the confidence we need in order to
use these talents for HIS Glory!

CELEBRATE.....what an amazing word!

I hope you will enjoy your day and remember to celebrate it by giving thanks to the Lord.

xoxo

Howdy Y'all....you will all be happy to know that I purchased the trash can!!  Oh yes I did!!

We will pick it up in a couple of weeks, so I will have between now and then to decide how I want to paint it!  This is going to be one of those fun projects....

My heart has been somewhat heavy for our grandkids, today.  They are taking the "BIG TEST" today!  You know, the one that decides whether or not you are smart enough to move up a grade at the beginning of next year.

Tori came home sick yesterday...Her stomach was hurting and she had a headache!
The diagnosis for this, was NERVES!

She was so nervous about the test she had to take today.

I don't know how the rest of you feel about these kind of test, but I truly feel that our education program has gotten out of hand.
I don't even know what this year's test is called....the reason being,  because the state has changed the name of the test so many times.

Of course, you know what happens when you change the name of the test don't you?  All new materials have to be printed and new guidelines are enforced.  What a waste in my opinion!

What ever happened to the good ol' achievement test that students used to have to take, ever other year??  It was good enough for us, so why would it not be good enough for kids these days?

Not only does the state education program make it difficult for the kids, but this is really stressful for teachers!  Oh my, I had better stop right here with this conversation, or I might get myself in trouble...

Anyways.....our kids have more testing this week, so please be in prayer for these little darlings.

Sure hope the weather is treating everyone nicely...It is beautiful here!  I can barely see, but the weather is gorgeous.  For the first time in forever, I am having allergies.  My eyes are red and feel so itchy.  I can't seem to quit scratching them...Hopefully this will pass SOON!

Well....that's it for now.  Talk to all of you, LATER!

Little Pink Diva

All it takes is just a little time, and anyone can come up with
a fabulous looking table.

And, who says that it has to be all about money?  There are plenty of bargains out there....all we need to do is shop!

Take these darling Diva plates....who would guess that they came from the dollar store?

Adorable!!  Just a plain ol' tennis shoe
(well, a blingy tennis shoe)

Add some ribbons, lace and flowers, and
Ooo, La, La.....
You have yourself a darling little addition to a beautiful centerpiece!

What lady would  not love, sitting around a "Diva" table, sipping hot tea and enjoying a fun filled evening with good friends?

Great conversation....and a little Pink Diva....
I'm all in!!

Do i or Don't i ???

Do i...or don't i....?????  Now, i know that this ugly old trash can doesn't look like much, but i do see a lot of potential for the thing.

When is the last time that any of you saw a tall commercial trash container like this one?  Same here! it had been many years for me, until a week ago.   Sam and i found this trash can at a downtown antique shop in McKinney. This is, in my opinion an antique!

Sure, you may see cans that are similar to this one, sitting here and there on some of the old downtown streets, but i don't really think you will find a tall, slender, 12 x 12 x 48 can without some kind of brick or stone surrounding it.   Most of them, now have a newer, more modern look.  Something that blends in with nature.

We did not finalize the purchase, so my question is....DO i or DON'T i make this purchase..
What is the price you ask?  Not cheap, but not over expensive either....And i know, that the main thing to keep in mind here is that "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder."

in this case, i really do see the beauty in this old trash can, so perhaps for this reason and this reason alone, it should be mine!

Now....let me make that call....hopefully, it can be mine!

Have a Good, Good Morning and a Bright Sun Shiny Day..

Three Topics In One....

Does this happen at your house too?
Just wondering...

First Topic
Often.....when I go to the restroom, this is usually what I find....

I think next time, it would be sweet of me to take the empty roll off... write a few toilet paper changing directions on it, and then place it back on the holder!

Of course....all the other rolls of paper will be appropriately {locked} away in the cabinet.
Ooops...did I say locked?  I intended to say, tucked away!!

Second Topic

I had a very interesting day yesterday....took my dad and my niece shopping !!  Oh, and Mylee went too!

What a morning....truly, what a morning.
I think my vocal cords might be damaged from answering so many questions, and my tongue is very sore....from biting it so many times!  {Big laughs needed here}

I nearly hit every single car that was on the highway....
I almost ran into every car that I parked beside, I parked us by the WRONG entrance of the mall....I took  too many wrong roads, and to top it off, I bought way too many Chicken sandwiches!!

It really does take a lot of patience when dealing with elderly parents, especially if they have Alzheimer's...and especially if you take them to the mall!!

I'm not complaining here....just simply laughing at my day!

Oh Happy Day......

Topic Three

Yesterday afternoon, I lost my cell phone....
I had it one minute and the next it was gone!
Disappeared like lightening!!

After spending quality time with my dad in the morning hours, I decided to make my way down to our church yesterday afternoon.  I needed to make a new floral arrangement for the front table in the sanctuary...
This coming Sunday, is Homecoming Sunday at our church, and I wanted to make sure we had some colorful flowers up front...

I knew that I had my phone while at the church, but when I got home, I could not find it anywhere.....
I made another trip to the church to trace my tracks to see if I had left it sitting around somewhere.....The answer was NO!

I came home...searched this house upside down, with no luck at all...
Drove back to the church, thinking that perhaps I had accidentally placed my phone in the flower room....NO again!

Checked every place possible in my car, only to come up empty handed...When I got back home, Sam was here.  He called my number and low and behold...we could hear it ringing..
But, WHERE??

Tracked the ring coming from somewhere in the kitchen....Finally, YES finally, I found my phone.  It was in a cabinet!!  Yes, I said a cabinet, and it was in one that is way too high for Mylee to reach....this means that {I}  must have set it in the cabinet....

I must have packed way too much into this mind of mine!!

Oh Life, I love you!
I am anticipating a wonderful day today!

Blessings Y'all....
Shug
