Fried Pies and a View.....

                                                                     Long trip yesterday...

Nothing like making a 5 hour trip turn into an 8 hour trip...

Why did  they not listen to me?  I'm talking about the men....

There was a lot of construction on I35....as a matter of fact,
on Sunday, Sam and I were stopped to a complete stand still for
over an hour and man was it HOT!

So....to avoid this wee little problem again, my sweet thing (along with some other friends)
decided to take a different route...

One thing for sure was to stop at the "Original Fried Pie" store....

Let me take you on a quick tour of the place.......

Fried Pies.......all kinds of Fried Pies....

This is what greeted us at the door....I couldn't resist taking (several) pictures, maybe like 6 of them....

What a way to attract customers!!

Take a look at these babies........OMG....

A fried pie is like a round piece of crust.....fill one side with the filling of your choice........fold it over.....seal the sides together, and deep fry the whole thing.....

If you have never had one, this is a must try....THEY ARE GREAT!

For lunch I had the TEX-MEX fried pie.....sooooooo gooooood......It was filled with re fried beans, taco meat, Cheddar cheese and peppers...

And then, for dessert..........I HAD A "COCONUT" FRIED PIE!   This one is by far the BEST!!

Sam, Jimmy and Charlotte........
Sam had a Pecan pie, Jimmy had coconut (like me) and Charlotte enjoyed a delicious looking
Blackberry Fried Pie....

**********

Now, back to the trip....

There was suppose to be a small detour over to Hwy77, but it didn't turn out this way...

Over the mountains and through the woods.........To NO WHERE!

After about an hour of running around from here to there, they finally listened to me
and with no delays, we were on hwy. 77 within 10 minutes.....

Of course we had to stop one more time to eat......Cracker Barrel it was!

Finally got home around 8:00 P.M.

WOW

Sam tried to bring some fried pies home, but I convinced him that we didn't need them.....

I sure wish I had one right now....

Blessings My Friends....

  1. I think I left a comment on another post that I would have picked the coconut! Fried pies are awesome. We ran into some traffic on I35 Sunday on our way back from Austin. It wasn't standstill, but it was stop and go for a good while. And those big trucks that get in the left lane and ride side by side with another big truck make things so much worse! /rant over. :)

  7. Isn't it funny how things turn out?
Too bad you had to stop to have lunch--fried pies! Yum-O. AND then you had to stop for dinner. That's really rough. :) Men have a genetic hearing loss when it comes to following any directions but their's. Bless their hearts. :)
    I didn't pick the correct flavor--oh well.

  8. Hi Shug, nice to meet you! I enjoyed your story of the trip and the fried pies! I went to an Empanada restaurant in Houston TX one time many years ago. I had a yummy savory one.. but then I had a raspberry and cream cheese one and I thought I'd died and gone to heaven!
    ((hugs)), Teresa :-)
