A Hodgepodge of Tidbits

Whether it's the Olympics or football's cheering breeze,

Romance in small moments or hearts that softly squeeze,

A platter full of cheeses, laughter in between,

This Wednesday's hodgepodge of tidbits warms the scene!

Joyce asks the Questions
We answer the Questions

1. The Winter Olympics kick off on Friday, February 6th...on a scale of 1-10 how excited are you? (1= eh and 10=watching every event all day every day). What's your favorite Winter Olympic sporting event?

I do enjoy watching the Winter Olympics as the athletes challenge themselves against the cold, the snow, and other elements that winter delivers. My absolute favorite is the snow skiing.  It blends strength, balance and courage in a way that is so mesmerizing to watch.    One wrong move and suddenly everything these athletes have worked for can leave them feeling defeated.  Yet, completing the challenges that they have worked so hard for is so rewarding.

2. In other sporting news, the Super Bowl (American football's championship game) will be played on Sunday, February 8th. So tell us...what's your superpower?

I do love watching the Super 🏈 bowl, but mainly when my team...The Kansas City Chiefs are playing. Hmmm.  I think my Super power is that I like to make our home a place of love and I love decorating.  This was not my first answer, but I'm back correcting what I mis-read.  You ever do that?  Anyways, My super power is being a wife, a mom, grandmother, great grandmother and so on...   I'm here to help make life good for my family.  I'm not sure I do enough to call it super power, but I would at least give myself an A.

3. Are you a romantic?

I like to think so!!  I love holding hands with my sweetie and I love stealing a kiss from him in mid sentence.  Saying I love you MORE....saying "remember when and smiling"....  So much I could say here!!!

4. Blue cheese-yay or nay? How about feta? If you said yes to one or both, what's a dish you like that calls for one of these?

No Blue cheese for me!  Just can't do it!!

I do like Feta cheese and I enjoy eating it on a good salad with strawberries, cranberries and pecans.

5. What's more important-doing what you love or loving what you do?

This is one of those questions that sounds simple but....it could be a little tricky.

Doing what you love is beautiful when you are able to chase a passion that makes you feel excited.  But, loving what you do is often where PEACE lives.  Loving what you do means choosing
gratitude and purpose.  When you learn to love what you do, you find joy in your work and in people.  Funny thing...  Sometimes, loving what you do is what eventually leads you right back to doing what you love.     Does all this make sense?

6. Insert your own random thought here.

"Wouldn't it be lovely if the most beautiful thing about each of us was our heart?"

I saw this little quote and I thought how sweet this would be.   Not an outfit, not the face, not the hair....but to be beautiful because your heart is beautiful would be the the biggest asset a person can have.  To be seen as beautiful because of the way you deal with small things or the way kindness seems to follow you.  Having a heart that people remember long after a moment passes.....after the laughter fades and the room empties....this is the gentle echo that says something good was here....someone BEAUTIFUL.

PS...I had to go back and correct my first answer to #2...I mis-read that question.  So, if you don't understand some of the comments, it's because I changed my answer.  lol.

  6. Your random thought made me think of folks I have known in my life. When I was a freshman in college I met one of the homeliest guys I have ever known. Once I got to know him I never noticed his looks, just his big engaging lovely personalities.
Conversely, one of the most beautiful woman I have ever known is so hateful I don't ever notice her physical beauty anymore.

  7. I'm excited about the Winter Olympics but although we will be attending a Super Bowl Party, I'm more excited about the company and the food than the game. I enjoyed reading all your answers. Thanks Shug and have a beautiful week.

  8. I enjoy watching the ice skating during the winter Olympics, Shug. And yes, the best part about being beautiful inside and out resides in our hearts. If our hearts are in the right place and filled with God's love, we will always shine no matter how old we get. Blessings!

  11. We are looking so forward to the Olympics over here. Love watching them! And I love that my Hubby is such a romantic as I've always been one too. I didn't get as much of that from my ex - so I'm soaking it up this time around. 💗 I love bleu cheese and all the cheeses! But I am from WI - a true cheesehead. Lol I like the Super Bowl better when a team or player I like is in it. But it's still a fun excuse to hang with friends, eat fun nibbles and watch the funny commercials. Blessings. xoxo

  12. You have expressed yourself so well with these questions. I especially like: "To be seen as beautiful because of the way you deal with small things." Isn't that the truth?!!!

  13. I do like the ice skating and we will probably watch the Hockey games! We are not football people so we will pass on that activity:)

  14. I love what you are saying about a beautiful heart. I think that today, people are still judged too much by their looks or mannerisms. My favorite Olympic sport is figure skating. Can't stand bleu cheese!

  15. Wow, what a feast you will have for the Super Bowl.
We will be watching the game just because hubby likes football. I really don't care who wins.
We love the Olympics either summer or winter. I do enjoy the ice skating especially.
I'm sure we will have the games on a lot of the time.
Your ending thought about something beautiful remaining made me think of the Gaither song Something Beautiful. Something Beautiful, something good
    All my confusion He understood
All I had to offer Him was brokenness and strife
But He made something beautiful of my life.
    If there ever were dreams
    that were lofty and noble
They were my dreams at the start
And Hope for life's best were the hopes
that I harbor down deep in my heart
But my dreams turned to ashes
and my castles all crumbled, my fortune
    turned to loss
So I wrapped it all in the rags of life
and laid it at the Cross
He made Something Beautiful of my Life
    Bill Gaither 2001
