A Hodgepodge of Tidbits

Whether it's the Olympics or football's cheering breeze,

Romance in small moments or hearts that softly squeeze,

A platter full of cheeses, laughter in between,

This Wednesday's hodgepodge of tidbits warms the scene!

Joyce asks the Questions
We answer the Questions

1. The Winter Olympics kick off on Friday, February 6th...on a scale of 1-10 how excited are you? (1= eh and 10=watching every event all day every day). What's your favorite Winter Olympic sporting event?

I do enjoy watching the Winter Olympics as the athletes challenge themselves against the cold, the snow, and other elements that winter delivers. My absolute favorite is the snow skiing.  It blends strength, balance and courage in a way that is so mesmerizing to watch.    One wrong move and suddenly everything these athletes have worked for can leave them feeling defeated.  Yet, completing the challenges that they have worked so hard for is so rewarding.

2. In other sporting news, the Super Bowl (American football's championship game) will be played on Sunday, February 8th. So tell us...what's your superpower?

I do love watching the Super 🏈 bowl, but mainly when my team...The Kansas City Chiefs are playing. Hmmm.  I think my Super Bowl power is that I like to make everyone in our home comfortable by providing snacks that will make them feel as if they are right there in the stadium.  Except for the Beer/alcohol.  SORRY, not sorry!!  Crowd pleasing chips and queso, chips and guacamole, Chicken wings, brisket sliders, pigs in a blanket..... Pulled pork nachos, Loaded potato skins, Texas sheet cake and of course....SWEET TEA!

3. Are you a romantic?

I like to think so!!  I love holding hands with my sweetie and I love stealing a kiss from him in mid sentence.  Saying I love you MORE....saying "remember when and smiling"....  So much I could say here!!!

4. Blue cheese-yay or nay? How about feta? If you said yes to one or both, what's a dish you like that calls for one of these?

No Blue cheese for me!  Just can't do it!!

I do like Feta cheese and I enjoy eating it on a good salad with strawberries, cranberries and pecans.

5. What's more important-doing what you love or loving what you do?

This is one of those questions that sounds simple but....it could be a little tricky.

Doing what you love is beautiful when you are able to chase a passion that makes you feel excited.  But, loving what you do is often where PEACE lives.  Loving what you do means choosing
gratitude and purpose.  When you learn to love what you do, you find joy in your work and in people.  Funny thing...  Sometimes, loving what you do is what eventually leads you right back to doing what you love.     Does all this make sense?

6. Insert your own random thought here.

"Wouldn't it be lovely if the most beautiful thing about each of us was our heart?"

I saw this little quote and I thought how sweet this would be.   Not an outfit, not the face, not the hair....but to be beautiful because your heart is beautiful would be the the biggest asset a person can have.  To be seen as beautiful because of the way you deal with small things or the way kindness seems to follow you.  Having a heart that people remember long after a moment passes.....after the laughter fades and the room empties....this is the gentle echo that says something good was here....someone BEAUTIFUL.

  6. Your random thought made me think of folks I have known in my life. When I was a freshman in college I met one of the homeliest guys I have ever known. Once I got to know him I never noticed his looks, just his big engaging lovely personalities.
Conversely, one of the most beautiful woman I have ever known is so hateful I don't ever notice her physical beauty anymore.
