Happy Day After Thanksgiving Friends. 🦃 🧡
Around here, the dishes are mostly conquered, and our elastic waistbands are working overtime....I can assure you I will be wearing loose waist bands for a few days.
I do hope that everyone had a great day yesterday... A day full of good food, family and friends, and at least one thing that made your heart sing praises to the Lord for all of His goodness.
Today, though?
Today is for leftovers and pretending calories don't count if the food has rested in the refrigerator overnight and then reheated. ????
I woke up this morning feeling like my workout yesterday was sure enough a difficult workout. I mean, lifting the heavy roasting pan 28 times, washing pots, pans, and washing out a 100 other dishes, will give you a workout like none other. How did I not lose weight with this kind of workout?
LOL...there were times when I felt like I was an underpaid Dish washer who needed a pay raise. Naw...my girls did most of the work!
So tell me....are you one of those sensible people who eats yogurt and fruit, for breakfast the day after Thanksgiving? OR.....are you one who opens the refrigerator and goes straight to the left over pie or the left over dressing?
I'm in the dessert camp. I go straight to the German Chocolate cake. You all know how I feel about chocolate...I'm not a big fan of this brown/black sweet flavor, but when it comes to the German Chocolate cake, the chocolate taste becomes heaven sent. No judgment please!! LOL
Mylee taught us a new card game! It's called "Slap" for which I was a little leery of. This is such a fun game and I was super proud of myself for learning how to play (after at least a dozen games.) The guys were watching the "Chiefs and the Cowboys" game.
🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡🧡
... I'm sure that there is one of you out there that needs to hear this.
If you washed dishes yesterday, washed dishes last night, and find yourself now washing those dishes that needed to soak overnight..., then DO NOT Feel guilty about pulling out the disposable bowl for your breakfast this morning...you deserve it and you need to feel ZERO guilty about doing so.
Oh yes...Yesterday we made memories around the table, on the couches, in my kitchen that was full of chaos and clatter...We said "pass the rolls" numerous times, but we also gave thanks for our home and for the people we love. We thanked God for all of His provisions and His goodness. It was a Beautiful day and one that we were so Thankful for.
Today, I'm giving myself a special permission slip to do what I want to do. You will not guess what it's going to be!!!! ↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓↓
Believe it or not....I'm going to do something today that I said I was not going to do. YEP, I am going into town with the girls...shopping!! Not for long though... They want to pick up a few things on sale and of course, we will have lunch. We will be neglecting those leftovers that are stacked in my refrigerator.
I'm not a nap taker, but I just might grab one later today.
Just a reminder....If yesterday was beautiful ....full of laughter with your family, then I do hope you will hold those memories close.
If yesterday was hard...kinda empty, then I want you to know that I care, and you are very important to me.
From my leftover filled kitchen to yours....I hope everyone had a great day and I hope today meets you with peace. Love you all.
Shug...
* I will be reading blogs and commenting later this evening ..

It looks and sounds like a wonderful time of being with family. We had a great Thanksgiving as well, spent with family. I treasure the memories we made.
ReplyDeleteMemories are wonderful and it's awesome to make them and keep them in our hearts..
DeleteYou have earned a day to please yourself. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteI took advantage of having a pleasure day...it was so nice.
DeleteHappy times with the family! Could we ask for anything sweeter? Have a guilt-free weekend!
ReplyDeleteYou are so right.. We are blessed...
DeleteSuch a happy family, Shug! I'm so glad you could all get together for such fun times on Thanksgiving, in spite of all the dishes y'all had to tackle after. We're doing our Thanksgiving with family today as Danny's oldest son is in town with his wife and their foster daughter. Looking forward to all of it! Blessings, and have fun shopping!
ReplyDeleteHope your day of family and food has been so good. One reason I had so many dishes is because I try to make sure that my daughters never have to go home with dirty dishes from the food they brought. I always send them home with dishes that are ready to go right back into the cabinets.
DeleteHey there, shopper! Thank you so much for inviting us to your sweet Thanksgiving. *I may have chuckled a little 2-3 times throughout*
ReplyDeleteYep, my intended skinny jeans were put back in the closet this morning ... it's leggings and an oversize Christmas sweater for Thanksgiving #2 at son's place. No guilt!
those leggings and especially an oversized sweater sounds good to me. I ran into someone today who was telling me that they had 3 Thanksgiving meals to attend this weekend...Yikes!
DeleteI’m glad you are enjoying the season! Much love. 😊❤️
ReplyDeleteYou are so sweet. I'm determined to not let the woes of life drag me down this year.
DeleteMy morning-after-Thanksgiving breakfast was my usual bowl of Cheerios. However, in my single days, my menu would have been some of the dinner leftovers. You are not alone in your choices, especially after such a busy, festive meal the day before!!
ReplyDeleteOoooo that bowl of cherrios sound so good to me.. I had a cup of tomato basil soup for lunch today...light and filling.
DeleteHappy Day After !!! Your feast sounds so delightful, full of yummy things to eat and a ton of laughter too. Such are what memories are made of ....
ReplyDeleteWe had a wonderful day too. We were at our son's and I didn't have to make anything. Brought all the fixings for mashed potatoes and son Steve took it from there.
Brought home some leftovers for a meal tomorrow and also brought home an extra pound !! So bad but so good .
Finishing decorating the tree today abd then just puttering and relaxing.
Hope you came home from shopping and just vegged for the rest of the day.
Praying that it was a good day for Sam too.
(((hugs)))
Sue
How wonderful to get to go somewhere for Thanksgiving and not have to do anything but show up. My girls really did most everything this year. I made the dressing and furnished the ham and turkey. Woo hoo, for these two girls and my granddaughters..they really filled in the gap. Way too much food, and this was even after they all came back for dinner. Glad you all had a great Thanksgiving and can't wait to see your tree,.. Hugs back at you sue.
DeleteI'm looking forward to all the youtube videos of the brawls, fights from the black Friday shoppers at the checkout and sales displays. Always thankful for camera phones that capture the fun in real time.
ReplyDeleteDid not witness any brawls or fights. Everyone seemed to be very kind today.
DeleteI love that photo of your table! I did plenty of dishes yesterday, today we've been out but not shopping. We went to see a niece who lives a little over an hour away so Bob could check out some carpentry work she wants done. We were hit with a big storm so the drive was a little slippery, but still nice to do it.
ReplyDeleteHave fun shopping!
OH goodness. thankful for your safe travels. We didn't do a lot of shopping ..mostly spent our time eating..lol
DeleteIt sounds like a wonderful day. I gave myself permission to put all the serving dishes in the dishwasher and start it without being completely filled up, which made for an easy cleanup.
ReplyDeleteMe too Kathy...only issue is, my dishwasher went through two separate washings. I washed my pots and pans by hand though.
DeleteYou are the best! I loved seeing your beautiful family and reading about how you spent your holiday. And you offered wonderful advice as well. For the record, I am and aways have been a pumpkin pie for breakfast gal! Have a cozy weekend, my friend.
ReplyDeleteYum...pumpkin pie for breakfast sound pretty good. Hope your weekend in warm and cozy..
DeleteYou know Shug, you have your priorities straight. Eating with the family. Playing games. Being in the now. You can always do dishes later. I love chocolate but not coconut!
ReplyDeleteMy kiddos keep me going... they don't expect it, but they want to make sure that Sam and I are included in everything..
DeleteThe card game looks like fun; I will look it up. Love your pretty golden header today! Well, Black Friday only comes once a year, so you need to get at least a tiny bit in. I hope you show what you bought! We were in a couple stores, and it wasn't too bad. We went later in the day, thinking that most shoppers would be done and home napping. WRONG! But wait...you don't have a dishwasher. We like to say that we do have one, and his name is Phil!
ReplyDeleteLOL... I do have a dishwasher and would you believe that I ran it twice yesterday. I don't like to wash my pots and pans in the dishwasher though.. Same here...town was pretty crowded.
DeleteHappy Thanksgiving to you and yours...
ReplyDelete# We are frontline workers, so miss thanksgiving this year....
Thank you Tanza. Makes it difficult when you have to work, but I know you enjoyed family and the love that surrounds you.
DeleteSounds like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. A good one was had here as well, with lots of people and too much food. It was leftovers for breakfast, lunch, and supper :)
ReplyDeleteLeftovers is the good thing about Thanksgiving. However, they don't last very long around here. Glad your family enjoyed a wonderful Day Michelle..
DeleteIt sounds like the perfect Thanksgiving! Except for all those dishes! I know. I don't have a dishwasher, but my son Scott started right in washing the plates and silverware as fast as we could bring it in to the sink, and then sweet DIL Rose took care of putting away leftovers and washing the empty casseroles/pots/pans while I had time to visit with my sister and niece from out of town. Everyone pitched in with whatever needed to be done, and we had a beautiful time together. So thankful. Now today I just wanted a salad for lunch and then a long nap. Tonight we had leftovers and I just had a piece of apple pie. It all tasted better to me tonight than it did yesterday. I had too much going on yesterday to relax and my food wasn't going down right. LOL. I'm so glad you had a wonderful time with your family. That's the most important part of all!! Thank you for sharing it with us! (((HUGS)))
ReplyDeleteSame here Pamela..I had too much going on to really enjoy eating yesterday. We had leftovers tonight and it was so good.
DeleteI'm so glad you all had a great time with the family and made happy memories. Let us be thankful for such days of joy and happiness.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you all.
Shug, I had leftover corn casserole, dressing and a bit of mac/cheese for breakfast. Then I followed it up with a taste of pecan pie! Looks like you had a wonderful Thanksgiving and day after :)
ReplyDeleteLeftover pie for breakfast works for me. As for dishes, there were plenty to do but a few years back we switched over to using the fancy decorated Thanksgiving paper plates for our meal. It saves us just a little bit of work.
ReplyDeleteAwww...what a sweet and heartfelt post! And what I'd give to be able to sit up on a table, crosslegged again! Beautiful girls!!
ReplyDeletehugs
Donna
I love leftovers; however, I am like you, I reach for the dessert leftovers first, LOL. Keeping you all in prayer.
ReplyDeleteI am so late getting to read blogs, this is not the day after, but is the day after the day after TG... so much fun with your beautiful family and round that perfect round table. I used to be the day after sugar eater, but have had no sugar for 8 years. now it was the ham I had for breakfast. and today oatmeal. uck. I refuse to leave the kitchen until every thing is stored and every dish is done. every time I eat, 3 times a day and all holidays.
ReplyDeleteI would definitely be the one opening the refrigerator.
