Thankful Thursday and A Dragon Fruit

 Well friends, our dragon fruit cactus has decided to bless us with its annual performance!  The bloom really puts on a grand show that will last only a day.

Just look at this gorgeous bloom!  The delicate white petals, the golden center and the sheer size of it is so fascinating.

Before you start imagining baskets overflowing with delicious dragon fruit, let me explain....our little cactus has been averaging approximately ONE bloom per year...😅

Look at this grown tree...In our area, we would have to have a huge greenhouse to grow it in.  But look at the harvest.

Here is the fun part. When the one precious dragon fruit finally arrives, everybody gets a SLICE!!  This is what you call "sharing the harvest."  No seconds for anyone.  lol.

The fruit..I personally do not care for the fruit but it gets an A+ from the rest of the family..

All kidding aside, this beautiful bloom reminds me of something worth remembering on this Thankful Thursday...

Not every blessing comes in abundance and sometimes our blessings come one at a time.  A reminder that God's handiwork is all around us, even in the smallest corners of our backyard.  

Today, I am thankful for this spectacular flower, for the joy of watching something grow, and for the simple pleasures that I see on Sam's face.  He has worked hard to keep this plant living and if one flower brings him happiness, then I say, "thank you Lord."
