Thankful Thursday:
Today my heart is full of gratitude for something simple yet so meaningful...the growth of lemons on my husband's lemon trees. What a joy it is to step into the greenhouse and see the little reminder that God is always at work, even when don't see it happening right away.
The lemons started as tiny blossoms, almost too delicate to notice. Then, little by little, they have grown fuller and brighter. It might still be a couple of weeks until we can harvest them, but I can only think of the freshness they will bring to the table.
Isn't that just like the blessings in our own lives? Sometimes the growth is slow but oh so rewarding.

The slow journey of those lemons was a labor of love. They required careful watering, nutrient-rich fertilization, and diligent attention as they flourished under the sun. Each stage of growth was a testament to patience and care. And when the time finally arrived for harvest, you could be confident that the lemons would be perfectly poised to fulfill their delightful destiny - perhaps transforming into a refreshing glass of lemonade?
ReplyDeleteGood stuff, Shug!
Beautiful picture.
ReplyDeleteCitrus blossoms are so delicate and sweetly scented.
ReplyDeleteIn all things, give thanks!
ReplyDelete...Shug, I was in the nursery business for 50 years and every day I magic of growing things.
ReplyDeleteSad and disappointed that your Sam didn't make the transplant list but God knows why.
ReplyDeletePraying for the MRI and direction for going forward.
Waiting is the hard part but there is always a process, just like the lemons.
Such a good illustration Shug.

God knows best, dear Shug, I am keeping you both in my prayers 🙏 ❤️
ReplyDeleteLittle things can bring the deepest joy in our souls. Blessings, Shug, and hooray for Sam's lemons!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post, Shug! I love how you tied the lemons to God’s quiet work in our lives...always moving, always growing something good, even when we can’t see it right away. What a sweet reminder to stay patient and expectant. I can just imagine how fresh and wonderful those lemons will be when you harvest them! Thank you for sharing such a simple yet powerful encouragement today.
ReplyDeleteOh, I'm glad I noticed the side bar post about Sam, and then I can see how it ties into the story of the lemon tree...and waiting. Made me think about one of my favorite verses right away, Isaiah 40:31 KJV "But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." When we wait on the Lord, He promises to renew our strength and give us wings to soar above our troubles, and the strength in our legs to run and not be weary, and to walk and not faint. That's a BIG promise, but God is faithful, and He will see you both through this time of waiting on Him. He will even carry you when you need it. You can rely on Him. I can't wait to see what you do with your lemons! I can imagine how refreshing they will be in a glass of iced tea!! That would be my choice. But fresh squeezed lemonade is the best thing ever! Let us know, okay? Praying for you both. Love that beautiful white pumpkin at the top.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for continuing to keep us informed. When a doctor makes a point to talk in "real people" language, that's a blessing. You and Sam have a host of players on your team; I'm honored to suit up with the rest.
ReplyDeletePS - The little lemon seed I planted in a coffee mug a few months ago is actually growing! He/she's not yet 2", but it's so encouraging to watch it.
😊👍❤️
ReplyDeleteWonderful treat to have a lemon tree. How fun is that? Love that.
ReplyDeleteI love the photo in your header. Beautiful. I am thrilled your lemons or Sam's lemons are growing. I like how you tied them into a blessing. Blessings to you too.
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I bet you are busy with the wedding decorations! Have fun!
ReplyDeleteThat is exciting about the lemons, and your insight encouraged me.
ReplyDeleteContinuing to pray for Sam.
Everything in its own season. Prayers for both of you.
ReplyDeleteOh, this is such a lovely and peaceful post. I totally get what you mean about the lemons—seeing something grow slowly and become something beautiful is such a great reminder of how things work in life. It's so sweet that you're sharing this special moment with your husband's trees. I hope you get to enjoy some yummy lemonade or lemon tarts soon!
