Celebration Hodgepodge

Our days often come together like a hodgepodge quilt stitched together with love and surprises!

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

1. Are you more the life of the party or more party pooper? If your answer is somewhere in the middle do you lean towards more?

Birthday party, beach party, cocktail party, dinner party, charity fundraiser, surprise party, costume party, garden party, Christmas party, reunion...what's your favorite kind of party?

Maybe I'm not the life of the party, but I can assure you that I won't be a party pooper!
At least 75% of the time, I am the planner! I love to not only plan parties, but I love decorating for parties!  From the smallest details like planning what to wear, to every single detail, you can find me with a notebook and pen in hand.

My speciality is planning celebrations with my family and with my High School Friends.

No favorites...I love most all parties.

2.  Cheese, wine, and balsamic vinegar all improve with age. What would you like to add to the list?

Hmmm...can I list more than one thing? Family traditions: It is all about the small rituals passed down and  they become life treasures.  Deep Friendships: bonds that grow stronger through shared seasons of life.  And, LOVE: the genuine affection that deepens with years.

3. How do you feel about your birthday? How do you want to be celebrated? Or don't you?

I prefer celebrating others! This is who I am...I love to celebrate others, but I don't truly enjoy celebrating ME.
A nice quite dinner....and a few photos of our family together is what I prefer when it comes to celebrating my birthday!

4. What remarkable feat, interesting piece of trivia, or historical event occurred on your birth date and month? Not necessarily your same birth year, just the same date/month.

Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo nonstop across the U.S.

5.  Share two good things about your life right now.

Finding strength that I did not know I had.
and
The quite comfort of knowing how much I am loved.

6. Insert your own random thought here.

My random thought this morning is how I have the best family ever.... I love celebrating, and this is one thing I have passed down to each of them.....they love to celebrate with me.  My photo below will explain our love for celebrations..

  2. I’m always in the planner mode as well but I’m training my daughter-in-law to take up the reins, a one step at a time - at the very least we are sharing responsibilities so it’s not all on me. Plus she brings something different to the table that I always enjoy.
Hospitality was always my thing and after all the planning, I’m too tired to be the life of the party so I prefer to sit back and enjoying those who are!
I’m happy the doctor explained things to you so it’s easier to understand. May 26 is NOT that far away and anyway God’s timing is always on time.

  3. I liked number 5, Shug. I've always been the planner and hostess of parties throughout the years, and I'm happy that my daughters took on that role, and come up with the creative ideas so I can sit back and rest. They always serve me too, which is a nice change, as I served all my life haha. I do love to participate in the surprises and gifts for the family at those special times Cute pictures, Shug, and I love that Christmas one.

**I read Sam's update. I'm sorry he will not be added to the transplant list, but you are wonderful to have faith and know God's timing is perfect. And sometimes because we have to wait, He has shielded us from things that would have been a disaster.

  6. What lovely answers to the questions this week, Shug. Your "gift" surely must be "giving" as you put your whole heart into whatever you do...whether it's planning a party or putting others at ease. Have a lovely Wednesday, my friend. xx Praying for peace and strength as you and Sam wait for that MRI next month.

  10. And where were you when I turned 80?? LOL! You do sound like a fun-loving person who would be a joy to know. It is wonderful that you have passed that down to your family. I'm sure God has found many ways to use your gift. I trust your husband is continuing to make progress.

  11. I just love that last picture. I like that you have great sports in the family, and everyone will do it together.
I am not a party pooper or life of the party either.
August 24 Amelia Earhart became the first woman to fly solo nonstop across the U.S.
I love family traditions and friends too.
I put an interesting post up this past Tuesday - would love your opinion.
Are you upset Sam did not get put on the transplant list yet?

  18. Hi dear Shug, your header is absolutely stunning!!! I am a party pooper...what I mean by this is that I prefer to be in the background, quiet. :) I also enjoy celebrating others, Shug!
Thank you so much for sharing, dear friend. Warm hugs and much love to you.

  19. Oh Shug, the header really is a dazzler. Beautiful! Your post was good, too. I am SO SORRY about what you and Sam are going through. It is an arduous journey. I walked a similar walk with my husband. He has been gone five years now and I still miss him still with every fiber of my being. I am glad you are finding out how strong you are. You know I wish you both the very, very best. Take care, dear Shug. Susan

  20. The last photo of your family celebrating together is the composite of your life's legacy, Shug. You are one of the most positive and upbeat people I've ever met in life, and and inspiration to me and, I'm cure, countless others. Your love for the Lord shines in all you do. Blessings always!

  21. Hiya Shug, I am so not a party person, guess I am a party pooper!
I just read the sidebar, I know the Doctors have to do "stuff" to have the best outcome but waiting is really hard. Prayers continue for you and Sam:)

  22. I am a planner for entertaining! Not so much for parties (although I did my share when I was younger) but now I mostly host holiday gatherings but for our large extended family of anywhere from 20-30 family members! I love your new header - so beautiful. Sorry for the challenges that Sam and you are facing but it sounds like your faith will get you through these difficult times. Blessings to you and your family.

  25. Waiting is terribly difficult. I am being busy. Two new clients, and that gives me a purpose. Thanks for your uplifting spirit.

  26. I loved reading your Hodgepodge answers! You sound like the ultimate party planner… I admire how much joy you find in the details and in creating celebrations for your family and friends. That truly is such a gift! I also loved your list of things that improve with age… family traditions, deep friendships, and love are all so meaningful and beautifully said.
How neat that your birthday lines up with Amelia Earhart’s incredible achievement — what an inspiring piece of history to share a day with. And your last answers touched me…finding unexpected strength and resting in the comfort of being deeply loved are two of the best blessings. Your family’s love for celebrating together really shines through!
