Gator Watching..

Outside this morning the temp is 59 degrees..  How about it Texas Folks??

This is nice....really nice!!

Last evening, Sam and I took a little ride down to the farm with one mission in mind....to see if the "resident gator" would make an appearance. Sure enough, there he was, gliding along like he owned the place. He eyes just barely above the water and he was going slow and easy as he was making his way to the other end of he lake.

I had a video, but for some reason it would not load onto my blog...

We sat there for a good while, windows down, just watching.  It felt a little like being on a safari, except there was no jeep and the only exotic wildlife was a Texas alligator instead of a fierce lion. I did keep my ears on alert just in case we heard a panther or BIG FOOT!!!!!

The weather was perfect, although we did have a few mosquitos trying  to enjoy the coolness of the evening along beside us.  They can be so annoying!!!

On our way driving away from the lake, we saw several beautiful does with their fluffy white tales showing off once they saw us.

Sam spotted six graceful does out in the field. They were moving so quietly but yet..... by the time I could grab my camera, I was only able to snap a picture of the last two.

We spent the sweetest evening, just the two of us soaking in the blessings that only nature can provide...

Happy Tuesday Friends...

  1. How cool is that? Your very own alligator. My husband would probably name it.I know very little about alligators, so I’m wondering he must be awfully lonely. Poor guy. Love the precious deer on your property. No deer visits at our place but my son does and he feeds them.God bless you Shug and continued prayers for Sam.

    1. I've been trying to think of a name for this thing. Gators are so intimidating and the bad thing is that the nursery uses this lake every day to irrigate out of..

  2. What a nice evening! Time spent together in God's beautiful creation! We were out last night to see the blood moon and saw deer while we were out too - no alligators though!

    1. True!! It worries me for the alligator to be there. I think it came over from the big lake and has now made it's home in this lake...the lake that the nursery uses for irrigating..

  7. It's such a wonderful sight when we see the Deer, Shug. They are special animals for sure. I couldn't believe that two small deer were on my lawn yesterday, while the mother looked on. I just gazed at the three deer in the neighborhood. Wow, that alligator! That's really a pretty picture. When you mentioned the lion, I thought about how we have to watch out for mountain lions here, as they have been spotted in the next town over. So nice that you and Sam got to go to the farm and just spend time visiting nature. The farm sounds like a neat place to go. And I'm glad you are getting cooler weather now.

  8. yikes, I hope there are no dogs on the farm, we live in gator country and scarely a day goes by that someone or their dog gets attacked. even small children are in danger.
it really is a beautiful place to sit and listen to nature and be quiet..

    1. Thankfully no dogs and no children any where near. This farm is way back in the country and I would almost venture to say there are places back there that no foot as ever been on. We are blessed to have such a beautiful place to enjoy..

  9. That gator looks like he must be the cousin to the one I saw here a couple of months ago at the boat ramp park we like to go to. Your picture looks almost just like mine! LOL. We went back there last week and I looked for him (carefully), but I did not see him. Besides, you know they keep growing...they don't stay young and small for long...so be careful! I think the deer are pretty safe as they most likely would run before he could get them, but maybe not a small fawn... Anyway, I loved your pictures and the scene you painted for us sounded lovely, except for the mosquitoes. I know all about them too! I will keep praying for your hubby. One day at a time. May God continue to help him and heal him. Amen.
