Hello Friends, it is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions.
1. What gives you energy? What takes it away?
What fuels me most are the moments when
I'm creating...whether it's decorating a space, mapping out a trip, diving into a
deep-cleaning mission, or pulling together plans
for family time.. These things give me a
spark.
On the other hand, my energy seems to slip
away when I forget to take my thyroid meds.
OR...when I have a dreaded task that sits on my
to-do list.
2. How often do you shop for clothes? What accessory do you
always wear?
Sadly....way too often!! I've shopped a lot
this past year.
With two grandsons getting married, I've
shopped for several
dresses...not only for the weddings, but for the
parties and showers and such. After all...you
have to look nice when you are the
"grandmother/Shug" of the Grooms!
I always wear bracelets, watch, necklace and
earrings and of course.... my rings.
3. What's something free that you feel grateful for?
This is an easy one! I am so grateful for family,
love, friendships, God's love and I want to say
Freedom but I do know that our freedom
does come with a price given to us from
those who have given their lives fighting for
our freedom.
4. Breakfast, lunch, dinner...which meal of the day do you
enjoy most? What's your go-to comfort food?
I would say my favorite meal of the day is lunch.
However, any meal that I don't have to cook is
my favorite.
My comfort food always takes me back to
soups. Soups of any kind!!
5. This week the world remembers the tragic events of 9/11.
Do you mark the day in any way? How do historical events
shape your perspective on your personal challenges?
I pause to remember the lives that were loss
and the hero's who stepped forward in the
face of an unthinkable tragedy. I don't
necessarily
mark the day with a public act, but in my heart
it is a time of quiet reflection and prayer.
What comes to my mind on how my perspective
might be shaped, is the word Resilience.
Finding strength and gratitude in my own trials.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
My random thought for the day is based on how
many blessings surround me this week. Not just
the gift of cooler mornings and warm
afternoons, but also sweet conversations
with loved ones, simple laughter shared, early morning porch sitting and the
comfort of knowing
God's hand is in it all.

I love that LOVE mug. :-)
ReplyDeleteSoup ... me too, the best comfort food.
I appreciated your #3!!!
Love, Carla

ReplyDeleteSoup is good,, but hot chocolate is even better.
ReplyDeleteThinking of you and Sam and hoping the encephalopathy can be managed satisfactorily.
"Any meal that I don't have to cook is my favorite." AMEN! I don't mind cooking, but the planning and purchasing annoy me to no end.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree!
DeleteI love making soups and eating them too and look forward to that season coming in soon. We're still pretty summery weather wise here so I haven't been inspired to pull out those recipes yet. I don't like something sitting on a to-do list either. And it's usually sitting because it's a dreaded task. I'm good at ticking off a list normally. Hope you have a nice day!
ReplyDeleteI like this fall snack mix, and will make it! I hope you show us the new dresses! I can hardly function if I forget my thrroid med!
ReplyDeleteI agree - the grandmother of the groom needs to shop! It hasn't been too cold here yet, but I'm definitely ready for soup and chili. I also love to decorate and orginize. Just makes you feel good, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteShug, I loved visiting you here today! You are so much fun andI aprreciate your friendship! I sure hope someday we can meet up for lunch or something when you are in the DFW area. I'm sure we would have some fun!!
ReplyDeleteI agree about "any meal that I don't have to cook" is a favorite. We just went to Chili's for lunch, and it was so good, but now I have acid reflux from the fries and burger. I only ate 1/2 of it, but still it's there...so I do better if I cook my own food, unfortunately! LOL. I love soups too, and fall and winter are soup months for us. Thanks for the reminder.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes, weddings are always a good excuse to shop. Hopefully you were able to get something that you can wear for other things too. That's the only problem with dresses for weddings...too often we never wear them again.
I enjoyed your post and I always do. Thank you for being you!
I had to look up encephalopathy. I hope the food helps clear Sam's brain - do vitamins help at all?
ReplyDeleteI love soups too in the winter and fall.
I make a grateful list every day and it has literally changed who I am.
Well, praying for you and Sam.
Wonderful answers my Lovely! Soup is always a favorite comfort food up here too. And hotdish/casseroles (It's a midwest thing Lol). Creating excites me too! I reflect each 9/11 too. It's amazing it's been so many years already. I still remember where I was when I was watching it unfold on the news.
ReplyDeleteThick soups and stews are my fav comfort food, too. Followed closely by ooey, gooey Mexican .... so bad for me, but soooo good. Coming in the air real soon!
ReplyDeleteI don't attend any public memorials but there will always be a huge place in my mind and my heart for those lost.
Can I jump on the “any-meal-I-don’t-have-to-cook” Bandwagon? I’m there right with you all. I’m always wanting to eat out. But we don’t as much as I would like.
ReplyDeleteContinued prayers for Sam and you.
love soup and chocolate .....
ReplyDeleteHappy Hodgepodge Day
I'm with you. any meal I don't have to cook is great. Love the mug
ReplyDelete😊 much love. ❤️
ReplyDeleteKnowing and truly believing that God has His hand in all of our joys and troubles can get us through the most difficult of times. Today has been so hard for me, knowing that a young and gifted man like Charlie Kirk has been assassinated and taken from us too soon. My heart is breaking for his family. But I take solace in knowing that he was an unabashed Christian and he will inspire so many in the generations that follow us to never be afraid to stand up and speak up for the truth. Praying, praying that Sam is doing better, Shug. Sending love and hugs to all!
