A "Grand" Hodgepodge
Hello Friends, it is Wednesday and that means it is time for the Hodgepodge.
Joyce asks the questions.
We answer the questions
1. Next Sunday is Grandparent's Day. Share a favorite memory, photo, recipe, or something you learned from a grandparent.
I really do not have many photos of my grandparents. My maternal grandmother passed away when I was only 3. My paternal grandfather passed away before I was born.
One thing that my "Papa" (paternal grandfather) taught all of us grands, was that farming is not easy. Yet, the rewards from hard work makes for a good life. He was a big time farmer and as a kid, he would let my siblings and I work out in the fields, picking tomatoes and peas. Hard work is what he expected, and our pay was good enough to have spending money. I have lots of memories of those fields that were full of produce.
2. What's a quote from a book (besides The Bible) that has stayed with you?
"The best love is the kind that awakens the soul; that makes us reach for more, that plants the fire in our hearts and brings peace to our minds. That's what I hope to give you forever."
from: The Notebook.....my favorite movie!!
3. What's your number one food pet peeve?
Hot food should be HOT and Cold food should be COLD. No lukewarm for me. Same for my coffee and tea.
4. What's one thing about you that is still the same as it was when you were young?
6. Insert your own random thought here.
My random thought for today is how funny how the shortest line at the grocery store usually ends up being the slowest.
Happens to me all the time!! Yesterday for example: I chose a short line but the person checking out decided at the last moment that she had picked up the wrong brand of ketchup (after her bill was complete) Had to wait for a store employee to go get the correct brand and then for the cashier to return and refund the money in order for the woman to make the purchase for the brand she wanted. ARGH!

Good morning! What an adorable little blog you have here! I loved The Notebook. I’ve never seen the movie, but I read the book many years ago. It absolutely broke my heart!
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like a good lesson your Papa taught you.
ReplyDeleteYes! I totally agree with your for #3 especially when it comes to tea and coffee.
Ahh! I fell for the same thing, getting in the shortest line at the supermarket earlier in the week only for it to take forever!
Ha, that ketchup story is hilarious.
ReplyDeleteYour answer to #1 made my heart smile.
I agree with #3!!
