Watermelons and The Crown

Can you believe that I actually had to look at the calendar this morning to see what date it was?  The days are passing by fast...

A couple of weeks ago I began watching "The Crown" on Netflix and I suddenly found myself curtsying when I walk past the fridge. I guess I need to add a strand or two of jewels to my daily outfit.   Honestly, this show is a bit dramatic and I suppose this could be why I am enjoying it.

Do any of you all watch Netflix? Drop your favorite movies, shows or even documentaries in the comments for me, Please.   I'm always open to some good recommendations.  I'm not big on scary movies, nor do I enjoy watching war movies.  If only I could find a few series  like Anne with a E........

Switching gears here....from Buckingham Palace to Back Porch snacks.

We have been enjoying the sweetest, juiciest watermelon lately.  I mean, the kind that runs down your elbows and makes you forget about all your dignity for a solid five minutes.  I love a cold watermelon with salt.  Raise your hand if you eat salt on your watermelon or cantaloupe.

speaking of Watermelons...... At the Methodist church in a neighboring town, they have a big refrigerator box  for people to come by and get grocery items if needed.  This past week, a local farmer had several watermelons that he needed to get rid of before they went bad.  He left 10 of the big melons on the sidewalk near the giving box, for families who might want ONE.  Would you believe that someone came and took all 10 melons for themselves??  I figured that they took them and are trying to sell them.

I found this to be very sad..  I mean, who does things like this?

🌼

Well....for now, I am moving on!  Moving on straight to bed!  It has been a long day and my eyes are begging for sleep.  Will talk to you all tomorrow...

Shug....

  1. We don't get Netflix, but I wish we did. Gosh, this must have been painful for Sam! I hope he gets a good night's rest and his fever is gone by morning.

  2. I have never tried salt on watermelon - it sounds interesting.
Enjoy 'The Crown' but don't take it too seriously - there's quite a lot that has been added for dramatic effect!

  3. I have not seen that show. I don't have Netflix either. I love salt or sugar on watermelon. Wishing you a beautiful day.

  4. I don't have Netflix but I keep hearing other people talk about all the good things they watch on there.
I haven't had any watermelon yet this year. I may need to go out and get one. I love the stuff but can rarely eat it before it goes bad. That's pretty sad that someone took all 10 of those watermelons. It just makes me so mad sometimes how thoughtless people can be.

  5. We just watched The Intern and Straw, both are movies, Everyone needs to watch Straw, to understand how things happen in the world of poor people... intern is just fun and an old movie. I don't watch series very much, bob can't follow them. Maybe the person who took the melons needed money to buy food for a family, or homeless people wanted water melon. those are two good reasons, I can think of a dozen bad reasons.. having worked as volunteer in homeless ministry for 2 years, I think of them first every time.

  7. You had quite the adventure yesterday with the trip for Sam's biopsy. I'm so glad that family went with you and took care of the driving. Praying that he's feeling better today.

We enjoy watermelon too...and I especially enjoy it with salt. But we haven't had one yet this year.

Praying for you both, my friend. xx

  8. Yep, doesn't surprise me about the watermelons. Some human beings are just nasty! I love watermelon but boy oh boy, does it make my blood sugar go crazy...even a little bit. So I have to enjoy it in pictures. :-) We don't have Netflix so I can't help you out there. Love, Andrea xoxo

  9. What a trying day y'all spent! The only Netflix watching I've done lately is stand-up comedy ... but even that bears scrutiny. My favorites are Fluffy (Gabriel Iglasias) and Leanna Morgan who entertain without offending.
Prayers that Sam's feeling better this morning!

PS - Unlike my late mother, I don't enjoy fruit ... but hands up for salt!

  12. We gave up our Netflix a couple of years ago, but it has a lot of interesting-sounding shows. My parents put salt on their melon. I never understood why.

  14. Prayers continuing for your precious Sam. I hope he had a good rest last night and the pain is manageable. Praying for a good outcome.
Watermelon...yumm-o. I have only had a slice so far this season. I really NEED some good tasty melon. Yes I do like a bit of salt on both watermelon and cantelope. It really brings out the sweetness.
Unfortunately we don't have NetFlix ... wish we did...

  15. P.S. I didn't realize you had been putting updates about Sam on the sidebar.
The biopsy must have been painful. Hope he is feeling much better today. Continuing to keep him in my prayers.
