The Sun is shining so bright this morning.....I see a HOT day ahead.
Today's topic....The Texas heat!
I'm not sure, but it sure seems that Texas has a different definition for HOT. Around here, HOT means that your mascara melts before you even make it to church! For real...!!!
The first day of Summer was this past week, but in our area, you simple know it is officially summer when the weather app gives up. No forecasts, no alerts, just a sun icon that looks angry and a note that reads, "Good luck darling."
I often wonder why in the world we have leather car seats. I mean, when the heat is so extreme, those car seats will burn your bottom end. I will admit, I've done a few dances in those seats when I first sit down. Even my pot plants are beginning to say, "Shug we love you, but this ain't working...if you don't move us to the shade, then we are out of here."
What is our survival plan? Tall glasses of iced tea! A big tall glass of tea, filled to the rim with ice, is tops on the survival list. It makes a difference between having a heat induced breakdown, and the first sip saying "I'm okay..I'm going to make it now." Other survival needs.???...ceiling fans, lights turned off, and my favorite...NO COOKING in the kitchen! Of course, the air conditioning needs to be turned down to about 65 degrees.
Hope you all stay cool today....enjoy your nice Summer breezes and when you grab those little light weight blankets to keep yourself comfortable.....think of the Texas heat, and you will quickly warm up.
Big hugs to Y'all...
Shug 🔥
PS: I will not be posting tomorrow. Sam and I heading to Dallas this afternoon. He has a 8:30 AM doctor's appointment with the new Oncologist at Southwestern Medical.
Keeping you both in prayer...and laughing over the mascara, I have since learned, less is best concerning makeup here in Florida, in the summer--ok, after April. LOL--OH I still wear makeup, but not as much, just a dab here and there. And our ac is set at 75*--certainly don't want a huge electric bill. Have a beautiful Sunday my friend.
ReplyDeletethe same with our summer, above 90*F everyday.....and humid too...
ReplyDeletegood luck for you and your husband trip ... hope, everything goes well ....
I know you're going to think I'm crazy, but I'm a little bit envious of your hot weather. We live at the beach, but for 9 out of the 12 months it's cold, snowy, rainy or all of the above!! We're having a heat wave now and I'm ecstatic! We are in the pool or at the beach all day and night. Of course, like I said, it's short lived...and by next weekend I'll be wearing socks again instead of flip flops! Haha!! Good luck tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePrayers for the trip and the visit tomorrow. love that dog and the fan. Its so hot in our back yard I can't go out side except long enough for Beau to pee. the last few days, our 3 pm potty break says 100 or 102 on the fence, the temp on weather app says 99 but ours has no shade with the pine tree gone. the AC runs pretty much 24/7 from now to November
ReplyDeleteWould anyone live in Texas if air conditioning hadn't been invented?
ReplyDeleteLovely to have iced 🧊 tea. I love the illustrations. Stay safe and hydrated.
