Good morning friends...
We've all heard the old saying:
"Aim for the moon. Even if you miss, you'll land among the stars."
This might sound a little dreamy, but there really is a lot of truth tucked into these words. These are words that we might find on a poster or stitched on a pillow, but what if we applied them to our daily living?
I know that for me, most days I play it safe...I stick to a list or I stick to my daily routine. But (again) what if today, I gave myself permission to stretch beyond the usual? To try something that seems out of reach for me?
1. What if, I prayed for someone who most of the time frustrates me? Instead of replaying the offenses that cause the frustration, what if I find something really neat in that person.
2. What if, I set one small goal for myself and I give it my very best? If I don't reach that goal, at least I gave it my best and even accomplished a bit of exercise along the way.
3. What if, in my journal book, I spent a little extra time listing things I am grateful for? Not just doodling flowers in the margins, but actually listing simple things that I am grateful for?
4. What if, I try letting go of perfection and just enjoy life in all of it's imperfections? Real life is messy, but yet beautiful and a little chaos adds character to any day.
The moon might seem very far away....too far for us to aim for it, but....God has given us the ability to do hard things in life. I am going to lean in and trust God for the things that I have been holding back on. Today, why not take the shot? Stretch farther than my comfort zone and believe that I can shoot for the moon. What if I don't make it? So what! The stars are still a pretty lovely place to land.
God sees our effort....not just the outcome!
Shug...
Sending hugs and prayers and thank you for this encouraging post.

Good advice! Hope your day is full of blessings! Hi to Sam!
ReplyDeleteGood advice!
ReplyDeleteThose are some good words! Thanks for sharing them.
ReplyDeleteLove your post today, very encouraging. "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." ☺♥
ReplyDeleteUp until now, I've used "what if" as a worst-case scenario needing measures put in place. I do love how you've flipped the mirror, Shug. I'm going to try and take that shot -- even if it looks like baby steps.
ReplyDeleteLike Myra I'm willing to do the "baby steps". I do believe I will get farther that way than trying to attempt the big picture. Praying for the one that frustrates me is huge.. Thanks for the push to do that one.
ReplyDeleteOn another note, I was really surprised at how many people I am in contact with thought the fox in our backyard was no big deal. It is a big deal to us because of our yard being completely fenced in in a very suburban setting. A first after 18 years in this house. I do think some construction has disturbed their habitat and maybe they have babies to care for.
I loved your comment about getting the goats for the weeds. We have often talked about that being on our wish list. (((hugs)))

Another day, another beautiful matching header and background. These are wonderful things to aim for! We don't need the moon, we just need to try these things that you have posted about!
ReplyDeleteOops! My comment does not have my name. Another day. Another day, beautiful header and background is me, Ginny
ReplyDeleteGreat, inspirational thoughts, Shug. Why not shoot for the moon? We won' know until we try. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI think you could be a minister - seriously - do you lead a women's bible group - you should look into it. You are VERY inspirational! Love it.
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful thoughts. Very inspirational. Maybe I should try and do a little of the same.
ReplyDeleteSomehow, you always know what I need to read on any given day.
ReplyDeleteI love coming here each day because you inspire me to reach outside my comfort zone and dare to allow God to be God. YOU are a blessing, my dear friend. xx
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful and encouraging message to start the day with! 🌙✨ I love how you took a familiar quote and turned it into something deeply personal and actionable. The “what if” questions really made me pause and reflect — especially the one about praying for someone who frustrates us. That’s such a powerful shift in perspective. Also, your reminder to let go of perfection and embrace life’s beautiful mess is just what I needed to hear.
ReplyDeleteWe don’t always have to “make it to the moon” — sometimes landing among the stars is more than enough. Thank you for sharing such honest and faith-filled thoughts. I’m feeling inspired to stretch a little farther today!

I don't worry about stretching and growing. I focus on developing good habits and handling well the inevitable adventures that come my way. There are enough of them for me to practice on. 😊❤️
ReplyDeleteAnother great post! Upbeat and encouraging.
ReplyDeletegood morning, this is for sure going to be hard to do but I think it is the right path to follow and will work if you do
ReplyDeleteThis is such a beautiful and inspiring post! I absolutely love your list of 4!
