Palm Sunday: the day we remember how Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a humble donkey, greeted by the crowds waving palm branches and shouting, "Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!"
This is a beautiful picture and full of hope and praise.
When I was a little girl, I loved Palm Sunday. All of us kids would line up in the back of the church, each of us clutching a palm branch. When the music began, we would begin our walk down the aisle, waving our palms high in the air. Once we reached the front of the church, we laid our branches gently across the top rail of the altar. I have so many memories of this.
Palm Sunday reminds us that even when the road ahead is difficult, we are not walking it alone. As Jesus rode into Jerusalem, He knew that he would be tried and crucified. But...He also knew the rest of the story. The road led to the greatest victory of all, resurrection, redemption, and everlasting hope. Still today, Jesus rides in, not on a donkey, but right into the broken places of our lives, offering peace and salvation.
May this Palm Sunday find you all not only in love with Jesus, but praising HIM and singing with shouts of Praise.
Happy Palm Sunday Friends.
Shug....🌿
Indeed...thank you for this post. Wishing you a beautiful Holy Week.
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a blessed Palm Sunday and a beautiful week that ends in Easter
ReplyDeleteYour words are special on this Palm Sunday, Shug. And I loved hearing the story of when you were a little girl and the palms at your church. My kids would hold the palms high, and then lay them on the pew. When church was over, they formed those palms into something lovely. One year, my son made a rose. I still have it today. ; ) What a special day this is.

You shared good words today! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteOur kids in church this morning also waved palms as they walked up front, and then they sang, waving their branches. Always so sweet!
Palm Sunday has always been special for me, too, Shug. I love what you said about Jesus riding in to the broken places in our lives, restoring us and making us new. Have a blessed holy week!
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed day. ❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you, yes we did the palms also and it later years handed out palms woven into the shapes of a cross, I ran onto several of them amongst my Mothers things.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had an awesome church. What a wonderful way to get the children involved in the meaning of Easter! I absolutely love your cheerful sidebar today!!
ReplyDeleteWe were given palm fronds to wave this morning as well ... but I'm sure we weren't as sweet as you children were. I love what you said about Jesus riding into my broken places. Amen!
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was a child, it was always something special taking our new palms home. There was a picture of Jesus that hung in one of our hallways and they new palms would get put behind that picture and replace the ones from the year before.
ReplyDeleteAmen! Amen.
ReplyDeleteHappy Palm Sunday.
Jesus is Lord!
I love your memory of Palm Sunday as a child. I would love to see that happening again today. Our children at church did sing a song, but it really didn't have anything to do with Palm Sunday, but it was still cute to see them up there. Any time we can get children involved in church, it is a good thing. Happy Palm Sunday.
ReplyDeleteI liked your post today. Yes, Jesus coming to town to give his life so that we may live. Went to see King of Kings - it was good - but probably better for younger kids! lol Hope you had a blessed day today.
ReplyDeleteYou truly have a way with words and I loved every one of them in your post today. It was a lovely Palm Sunday, and my dearest was feeling good this morning and we were able to enjoy a Palm Sunday Service at our church. Yes, I remember Palm Sunday as a child and the palm branches. Great memories.
ReplyDeleteHello, my lovely friend. Happy and Blessed Holy Week to you!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing that special memory.
