This country road is one of my favorites in our area. Down this road is where the lady lives who does my sewing alterations. Such a gorgeous drive for me yesterday afternoon.
You all know how much I love the country roads and this one did not disappoint..
The trees were really showing off with their branches arched over the road and what a beautiful sight it was to see them again. I could (ALMOST) hear and see them waving at me...as if they were saying...."We're Back."
And looked what popped up in my yard this week....Texas Bluebonnets.
The bluebonnets are kinda scattered this year and not near as many as last year.
Here's the thing....I've done absolutely nothing to deserve these little beauties growing in my yard. No watering, no fuss, and no tender care. They just show up every year like clockwork and they always steal the show when it comes to the early spring flowers.
It's the little things Y'all....
Spring is a gentle reminder that nature knows exactly what it's doing! It shows up when it's supposed to even if some years it does tease us a little.
Sometimes the best therapy is a country road with a little sunshine, and a yard full of blooms.

Yes, my sweet friend, it's the little things. The Texas Bluebonnets are lovely and the country road you traveled yesterday is just gorgeous. Reminds me of home. :) Have a wonderful day enjoying the little things, dear Shug. xx
ReplyDeleteCountry road and spring flowers for the win. Very nice that they pop up each year. I love when flowers do that!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness I could hear John Denver singing country road...West Virginia...Take me home. I am such a country girl trapped in the city. (Actually not trapped....this is where my darling kids, grand and greatkids are...That's all I need. I'll walk down your country road in my mind. Spring flowers make me happy.
ReplyDeleteSooooo beautiful! Those pictures, do my heart good. It's so cold here, snow predicted again today but Spring will come. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteNothing quite like a country road. Peaceful and relaxing. Those bluebonnets are pretty and how wonderful that they come back every year to bless you with their beauty.
ReplyDeleteI think I need that "Country Road" therapy. So delightful and calming.
ReplyDeleteI love the Blue Bonnets we call them Lupines here and I have seen just a few popping out around in the fields.
Hope you are happy with your alterations and will be gorgeous for the upcoming events.
P.S. thank you so much for your lovely compliment on my blog. It was so nice of you.
Sue
I totally agree, it's the little things! Country roads, wildflowers, beautiful trees, butterflies and birds, and someone who does alterations for you? How wonderful is THAT? I'd love that. I hope you are feeling much better. It sounds like you are. That's wonderful. Have a blessed day!
ReplyDeleteThe Texas Bluebonnets are GORGEOUS!
ReplyDeleteI wish we had some country roads by us. We live in a pretty urbanized area. That is true therapy isn't it. And you see things to love God even more for giving us. Spring sure does know what it's doing and it's different everywhere.
There's nothing like a country road! The canopy of trees is just beautiful and yes, I totally agree about the little things. We have a few sweet purple crocuses popping up in my yard and that makes me smile when I pull in the driveway!
ReplyDeleteWhat a glorious post. Your blog is always so eye popping, bright, cheerful and wonderful to behold!! Your headers and backgrounds are amazing. I love Bluebonnets!! Especially the Nancy Griffith song "Gulf Coast Highway" where she sings about them. The path is stunning. The trees as an arbor overhead, and even their shadows on the road.
ReplyDeleteThe bluebonnets are beautiful, you are lucky to have them year after year!
ReplyDeleteI agree, bob and I just laughed out heads off, at Beau talking from his throat at us telling it was time for his 3 pm feeding... such a little thing but so much joy. I would feel much joy driving or even wandering on foot down that tree covered road.
ReplyDeleteHow I'd love to motor down that country road ... the trees like benevolent sentinels. All the time I lived in Texas, I don't recall ever having seen a bluebonnet! Maybe they don't exist way west of Ft. Worth?
ReplyDeleteI love country roads! I anxiously await spring!
ReplyDeleteThat country road is so charming. Green trees and lots of shade. How I love to drive the country roads. When I first moved up here to the mountains, I was expecting winding curves and steeps, but I was pleasantly surprised that the drive was like a lovely country road. I've heard of the Texas Bluebonnets. Your shrub is coming alive with them. They are such a striking color. Yes, Shug, it IS the little things that make special moments for us each and every day. : ) I hope your dress alterations turn out nicely.

Hello, I'm visiting from Dianna's blog.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful view down that country road and I enjoyed seeing the bluebonnets.
Will call in and see you again soon.
All the best Jan
Country roads are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful road! I'm happy for you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a peaceful drive, Shug :) And isn't it amazing how the wildflowers grow without anyone fussing over them? No watering, no fertilizer from Home Depot, no special soil, etc. Just God taking care of creation.
ReplyDeleteThank you for the reminder to be patient when the temperatures are chilly once again.
ReplyDeleteOh how I love that country road! Your Texas bluebonnets are like our California poppies. They just pop up all over - without any fuss from us. A springtime gift. Lovely post, Shug.
