It's a M-a-r-v-e-l-o-u-s Monday!
A few weeks ago I wrote a post on Canton First Monday.
I've been a bit slow in decorating our home since the Christmas Decorations came down.
This past week, I decided it was time to start on this project.....one that I so enjoy doing.
I wanted to show you all the cabinet piece that we had custom made from a dealer at First Monday, maybe 8 or 9 years ago.
This is a very heavy piece, so it stays Put!
I had my grandsons move it for me one time and they said never again. lol.
I decided to display my Liberty Blue Dishes in this cabinet. Sam and I shopped antique shops for these dishes many years ago. We were constantly looking for all of the different pieces and it took us quiet a while to collect them. I think I have about 20 place settings, plus the serving dishes.
We mostly use this cabinet as a snack cabinet. Popcorn, chips, Peanut butter, crackers, etc.
One other piece I purchased from First Monday was this mantle above the fireplace. When we purchased this house about 24 years ago, the fireplace had no mantle. The very eloquent and classy lady who lived here before us, had a huge painting hanging in this spot. The picture was very pretty, just not my style.
We had planned to have a mantle with columns put in, but I came across this piece and loved it... End of that story! lol.
Tomorrow.... I plan to post pictures of a few other things I have done to decorate. Here is a small hint.
I'll leave you all with an adorable photo of me, my sister and my cousins back in like 1957-58
Can you guess which one is ME?
The most wonderful places to be in the world? In someone's prayers, and in someone's heart...
You all are in my prayers and in my heart.
Hugs Y'all
shug.....💛
Your cabinets and displays are gorgeous, Shug! Thanks for inviting us all into your beautiful home. God bless!
ReplyDeleteThat china cabinet looks like a real masterpiece ... you've accessorized so beautifully! All the same, my heart belongs to the mummy -- lol.
ReplyDeleteCousin crew? I'm guessing you're the little blond on the far left.
Hello, I love the cabinets. :-) I like your sense of decor too. Home Sweet Home feel.
ReplyDeleteAre you the cutie on the far left?
Carla
I'm looking for the mantle but I don't see it. I love your huge hutch cabinet piece. It displays your dinnerware beautifully. I thought it was Blue Willow until I read further and enlarged the photo. I have never heard of this pattern. Is it Johnson Bros. too?
ReplyDeleteI think you are the little blond on the left too.
Sue
Yes...the little blonde is me.. lol. I'll post the mantel tomorrow...
DeleteWait, you forgot to show the mantel!! Wow, all the beautiful dishes are so impressive and beautiful. And I love how you knew just how to arrange them in just the right places. It is such a stunning showpiece. I can't wait to see more.
ReplyDeleteCute, cute picture!
ReplyDeleteI love your style. The dishes and the cabinets are beautiful. But you forgot the mantel. Maybe next time!
I did forget....I'll post this tomorrow...
DeleteNo picture of the mantel? The cabinets are both beautiful. That first one does look like it would be hard to move.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to take a guess and say that you are the blonde on the left end in the picture.
I forgot....I'll post Mantel pics tomorrow
DeleteI like both cabinets very much!
ReplyDeleteI like that wood and the black - very attractive. I repurposed some end tables and a coffee table that belonged to my mom - heavy furniture and went with the black and dark wood stain. Your dining room is lovely.
ReplyDeleteLove those dishes. I had a friend whose whole house was blue and white. She had those types of dishes...but she didn't go stray from the blue and white color theme in her house and it was gorgeous. Can't wait to see tomorrows post
That First Monday is a great resource! I love your home.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue china- I always have. The second cabinet intrigues me- very cool. I haven't been to Canton since Canton was a tiny place. Now I hear it is huge!
ReplyDeleteYour cabinet is so charming, Shug, and I love all the blue pieces you displayed there. You know, blue in the home is so pretty, and I also put blue things out now and then. I like that snack cabinet. What a great place for goodies. This is a treasured photo of you and your sister and cousins. And what a beautiful thing you said at the end. Thank you for that, Shug. I look forward to seeing more of your decorating. It a fun thing to do in our homes, and you definitely have a flare for it.

I like the Liberty blue plates and all your wonderful pieces you have there. So you change what you display in the cabinets? I like the snack cabinet - you can get just what you want. I am going to guess you were the blonde on the left.
ReplyDeleteHi Shug. Your blue china looks beautiful in the cabinet and that is quite a cabinet as well! I wish you had put a photo of the fireplace and mantle. Looking forward to more decorating posts. Hope you have a great week. Susan
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!!!! I hope you have a marvelous day!
ReplyDeletewhere is the mantle? now I have to SEE it.. I have never heard of First Monday, we do have a Tuesday Morning. your home is beautiful, wow on the dish collection. My mother would be jealous of your dishes and that huge china cabinet. she had a big one but not this big...
ReplyDeleteI guess you are the blonde on the left! Those are some pretty dishes, my husband would love them as that is his color blue! I like your chip cabinet...just perfect!
