Waiting Game.....

I just don't think that I am cut out for the waiting game in life.
I'm sure you all know exactly what kind of game I'm speaking of.

yesterday, I had to go for my "pre-op" doctor's visit....you know, the one where they decide if you are well enough to have surgery....while I appreciate the concern for my health, it would certainly be nice if it were not, such a long drawn out event.  And besides, if they know we are going to have to wait, why not serve up some refreshments or some updated reading material

my appointment was at 10:30.  I arrive at 10:15....I walk out of the doctor's office at 12:30.  Total time that was spent taking my blood, doing a chest x-ray and an ekg = less than 20 minutes.  Where did the other 100 or so minutes go?

55 minutes in the waiting room...maybe 5 minutes walking from the lab to the "ROOM"  .....25 minutes in the room....5 minutes talking to the doctor and 10 minutes waiting to pay!

and guess what?  I have to go back today!  Yep...."Stress test"

This was not enough waiting for the day.....I was meeting Shanda and Trista (after my doctor's visit) for a relaxing
pedicure.  Woo hoo...I was so excited about this.   Appointment time?  1:00

Seems that the salon had overbooked!!  Are you kidding me?
More waiting....finished the pedi at 2:45.  But, at least I got  to enjoy some great conversation with my girls....

I suppose life is a "Waiting Game"  everywhere we go...
I just don't understand that word "appointment"

The definition says....a fixed MUTUAL agreement for a meeting....Ooops, looks like some people are not holding up to their end of the agreement!

Well....I see more WAITING ....waiting for me  "today"

Blessings y'all

  1. It's times like that when we really appreciate a reading device. Love my Kindle. I had a wonderful doctor who never kept us waiting long. He left. Haven't needed to go to another, but I'm sure that'll change! :D
Hope your recovery goes quickly! Who gonna do your hair? :D

  2. It's no wonder you need a stress test after that day!!!!!! I would too... I hate to wait also--and get really upset about things like that...

Hope the stress test goes okay today... I know you are anxious to get this surgery over with.

We are STILL waiting on RAIN. It went all around us last night.. Grrrrrr.

  3. These waiting room scenarios used to leave me fuming! FUMING! No longer ruled by my temper (thanks, God), I go prepared because they are not fooling around with that WAIT sign. It means exactly what it says. LOL I am now armed with my Kindle and iPhone, so the agonizing wait no longer bothers me. As much.

Hope and pray you pass your tests with flying colors!! Thanks for your witty post that made me smile.

  5. So true! I feel the same way. Why have appts when they are never on time.
I know next week you have shoulder surgery. My husband had it 3 months ago on his right shoulder and is right handed too but he did great and you will too!

  6. It is ridiculous indeed! It almost appears as though the medical community has no respect for anyone else' time. All the best!

  7. Hi Shug!

Waiting is just the worst! Hope everything goes well for you ... (((hugs)))

Diana Gabaldon said “...sitting and waiting is one of the most miserable occupations known to man - not that it usually is known to men; women do it much more often.” Isn't it the truth!!

  9. I agree with the comment above. But they expect you to be on time though and will tell you about it if you are not.

I always bring my own reading material-I'm happier that way. Refreshments would be good though.

    Good luck with the wait.

  10. I call it "hurry up and wait". I think they must schedule a dozen people at the same time at the doctors office. It is very annoying!
Hope your tests come out okay and that your surgery goes well!
