🍂 The Flags Say Fall… The Thermometer Says Otherwise! 🌼
Our little town has officially put out the fall flags, and they look so pretty along the streets. Autumn leaves, warm fall color......all the signs that a new season is upon us. This picture doesn't really show how pretty the flag is...
There’s just one little problem. Our weather guys are not giving us the news we are all waiting for.
The high today is expected to be 97 degrees!
At this point, I’m thinking maybe we should take those fall flags down and put the daisies back up. 🌼😂 My calendar does say September, but Texas seems determined to hang onto summer with both hands. I'm not really complaining here...just ready for the cool months.
I can remember back in the day when September actually felt like September. Football season rolled around, and we would pull out our letter jackets and wear them to the games. And it wasn’t just because we wanted everyone to see those letters—we actually needed the jackets!
Well....maybe we did want to show off those jackets just a bit..
September also means fair time around here. 🎡
Going to the fair (back in the day) meant rides, lights, fair food, and—you guessed it—jackets. There was a crispness in the evening air that made it feel like fall had truly arrived. You could walk around eating something fried on a stick without breaking into a sweat just standing there.
Those were the days...and I truly loved them.
Now September rolls around and instead of wondering, “Should I take a jacket?” we’re wondering, “How close can I park to the air conditioning?” 😂
Fall around here seems to be getting a little more stubborn about showing up. We can easily see temperatures in the 90s well into the season, sometimes even late into November. One day we’re putting pumpkins on the porch, and the next we’re watering them so they don’t bake!
But I’m still holding out hope.
Surely there is a cool morning somewhere in our future. A morning when I can step outside with a cup of coffee and actually feel a little chill in the air. A day when the windows can be opened, a sweater sounds good, and the air conditioner finally gets a much-deserved vacation.
Until then, our little town will proudly wave its fall flags while Mother Nature continues pretending it’s July.

🔥 The thermometer has completely lost its mind.
But one thing I know for sure…. Seasons WILL change!
Maybe not today.... Not at 97 degrees.
But cooler days are coming.....

Just a little update on our College Girl....Mylee is Loving this new journey she is experiencing. Classes are great and she has met so many new friends...

aahh, I sure hope you have some cooler days soon, Shug. I can't imagine it being almost 100 in Fall. Those letter jackets sound delightful. It sounds like all the kids in your school wore them. The flags adorning your town sound wonderful with their fall colors. And I'm so glad to hear Mylee is adjusting to college and making friends. This is a cute picture, and those white boots are darling on them. Hang in there, dear Shug. Fall is on its way. : )
Truth, though this morning was bearable!
We are under a severe heat dome here in Georgia, too, Shug. I think sometime next week, we will feel some relief and I hope and pray you all do, too. So good to see Mylee and to know she's making such a great adjustment to college life. I know you miss her so much, though. Blessings!
Oh, ugh ... that kind of heat just wilts me. Today we will only be at 84F with a breeze. I'm lovin' it...

Gotta attack our yard while the temps. are lower but I just don't seem to have the umph. Praying that I can do a wee bit at a time. The weather gal said our "winter" El Nino is going to be the wettest one in years. I need to get things under control before things get too sloppy. Not really moaning but just trying to charge my batteries for the coming storms.

Such good news about Mylee! Our girl felt overwhelmed in her first year. We have been having weather in the 90's as well! They say it has set a record. I think it's global warming.
My area is having the same stupid hot weather. I was looking at the things to do this weekend and SO MANY of them are outside (because, as you said, it's supposed to be delightful to be outside).
We were 96 degrees today - I am so tired of it. Glad Mylee is so happy and doing well. How did Sam's appointment and news go?

Here it is cool, only 62 degrees this morning and I had to put on a sweatshirt for a walk. You should come visit!

Love the boots. It has been in the 90s for most of the month, but this week the temps was in the 80s, and today in the 80s. I know it won't last, but we are enjoying it.
Well, we're in the same boat weather-wise. I liked to have a panic attack this afternoon when I looked at the thermostat and saw it read one degree higher than what I've set.
You and I have many of the same September memories; I do hope Heaven is a bit like that.

Well come on up to Pennsylvania. Highs have been in the high 70s to low 80's and right now we're sitting at 57. This is our fair week too so if you hurry you can get some fair food.

It has been a lot warmer here to in England too. Today is grey and wet but it's still in the mid 60's. The first week in October is fair time here and we are usually wrapped up well but I can't imagine it at the moment.
How great that Mylee is getting on well at college!
