One of my favorite ways to end the day is by falling asleep to praise and worship music. For me, this is so comforting as the beautiful words fill my thoughts as the day comes to a close. The worries, the noise, the endless to-do lists all seem to fade into the background. Instead, my heart is reminded of God’s goodness, His faithfulness, and His love that never changes.
Many nights, you’ll find me listening to songs by "CeCe Winans" such as Goodness of God, Believe For It, That’s My King, or Come Jesus Come. These songs have a way of settling my spirit and drawing my thoughts toward heaven. What a blessing it is to drift off to sleep with praise on your lips and gratitude in your heart.
I also love those moments when God places a message on my heart to share with others. It often happens unexpectedly. A thought will come to mind, a scripture will stir my spirit, or a worship song will speak directly to a situation I know someone else may be facing. Those moments remind me that encouragement is a gift meant to be shared. I never know whose day might be brighter, whose burden might feel lighter, or whose faith might be strengthened by a simple post.
One thing I have learned is that worship is powerful. When we’ve prayed all we know to pray, when words fail us, and when our hearts feel weary, worship can carry us the rest of the way. It lifts our eyes from our problems and places them back on the One who holds every answer.
Worship has a way of breaking through fear, discouragement, and heaviness. It reminds us that God is still on the throne and still working, even when we cannot see it.
Tonight, if your heart feels heavy or your mind won’t settle, try turning on a worship song. Let the music minister to your soul. Let the lyrics remind you of who God is. You may discover that worship becomes the prayer you didn’t have the words to speak. And what a beautiful thing it is to fall asleep in the presence of the Lord.

ReplyDeleteThank you. Wishing you a beautiful Saturday my friend.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful way to drift off to sleep. I'll keep this in mind and give it a try.
ReplyDeleteYou are blessed indeed to have such a strong faith.
ReplyDeleteYou are absolutely right! I often sing praise songs while Gary and I are riding our bikes -- protection against the crazy drivers and pedestrians, and golf carts that are around us!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband listens to hymns in the evenings, he appreciates that kind of music much more than I do:)
ReplyDeleteI agree; praise songs can help us get closer to our Lord.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
We both love contemporary Christian music, Shug, but I simply can't listen to anything when I'm trying to fall asleep. How comforting that you can! Yes, being grateful toward and mindful of the Who is in control always fills me with the peace that passes all understanding. Thank for your encouraging words here today!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worship becomes the prayer I didn't have the words to speak too.
ReplyDeleteMany times I awaken to a song flowing around in my head or maybe its just a phrase. I feel like its the Lord speaking to me directly. Praises begin the day or maybe it is also the perfect end to that day , however it has been.
Thank you for the beautiful post today.
(((hugs)))

This is such a wonderful idea!! Something to add to my nighttime prayers.
ReplyDeleteI do not like contemporary Christian music, but I do love traditional hymns. I like to listen to "Be Still My Soul"
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a wonderful way to end the day :)
ReplyDeleteI'm going to try that ... starting tonight!
ReplyDeleteShug, saying the Rosary brings me peace as worship music does for you. It's so peaceful that sometimes I doze off, only to find myself awaken to finish the Rosary. I don't really listen to worship music, but I do love the traditional hymns that have been sung in my church for years. I hope you have a good night's sleep listening to the worship music that you so love and appreciate. : )
ReplyDeleteShug, I go to sleep every night with instrumental hymns on my phone. I set the timer for 15 minutes and lay there with the music and praying my last prayers. I usually fall asleep before the timer stops :)
ReplyDeleteGlad you found a perfect way to drift into la la land. Zzzz....
