Thankful Thursday.....
Today I’m thankful for the people who can laugh at themselves.
The ones who burn the toast, forget why they walked into the room, wave at strangers thinking they know them, and still manage to make life feel lighter.
I’m thankful for conversations that make absolutely no sense to outsiders.
For refrigerators covered in magnets, receipts, and chaos.
For pajamas worn entirely too early in the evening.
For ice cream eaten straight from the carton while standing at the kitchen counter.
And honestly?
I’m thankful I’ve reached the age where I no longer feel the need to pretend I have everything figured out.
Some days are productive.
Some days are simply survival with lipstick and coffee.
Both count.
Here’s to real life… the messy, funny, beautifully imperfect version of it. ๐งก

That all sounds good to me especially eating ice cream from the container, while standing at the kitchen counter!
ReplyDeleteWonderful reflectioins! We have borthdays coming up and at our age just thankful and feeling blessed to ahve lived this long!
ReplyDeleteYes, at our age, it's almost impossible not to laugh at ourselves. This was lovely and real, Shug. And I always appreciate your 'Thankful Thursday' posts! Have a wonderful Thursday. I'm getting Chinese take-out, and that's always a good thing! ; )
ReplyDeleteI loved this. :-)
ReplyDeleteI am all about the refrigerator being loaded with magnets, photos of loved ones, art work from kiddos and more.

Here ... Here ... yes and amen.
ReplyDeleteI love your choices and the feelings I get from magnets on the fridge...many, many years of that decor, oh and standing at the counter eating ice cream out of the carton. When my Dad would come home from work on the nights he worked evening shift ... he would have his snacks standing at our kitchen counter. He always said those calories didn't count because he was standing and they would go right through .. haha..makes perfect sense to me !
I agree that some days are in pure survival mode and others just move along at their own pace.

I love it!! Here's to us, and all our fallible, messy days. Love your pretty flower header!
ReplyDeleteDear Shug, your photo is beautiful, dear friend! I also love your header and background! You have great taste, I love your choices of illustrations, colours and design or patterns!
ReplyDeleteA definite amen to your post!
Real life, although sometimes messy, unpredictable or even difficult at times, is beautiful!
Yes, thankful for all of these things and for the ability to laugh at myself! (Which means I laugh a lot!)
ReplyDeleteYou made me smile. :-)
ReplyDeleteThis made me smile! I put my pyjamas on this afternoon just after 2pm and it was lovely!
ReplyDeleteCould not love this more my dear Friend. For the gratitude in it all. As well as the wonderful imagery of those moments that you bring to mind. You sure have a poetic soul Lady. Blessings ๐
ReplyDeleteFor sure! I'm all about taking the bra off and putting the PJ's on! Men will never understand that joy. :)
ReplyDeleteThis post resonated with me. All days count! Some are messy and some are hard....and some are seemingly perfect, but they all count. Shug, thank you so much for linking up.
ReplyDeleteI love this...I know I'd love to be close by and enjoy being a friend! You think a lot like me! (That could be scary, however, LOL!) Yes, I have magnets on my fridge, and most of them are holding appointment cards for Dr. appts....and some photos...and other info...phone numbers I don't want to lose. We also have a magnetic note pad for grocery lists, etc. And a big magnetic white board to write important reminders to ourselves...'call in prescription', go to store...need milk and bread... Sunday said "shuck corn"...It was supposed to be for our son Scott who got here before we got home from church, but he didn't see it and so I still had to tell him when we got home. LOL. Thank you for this post. It made me smile and think about things that make me smile and realize we are all alike in so many ways.
ReplyDeleteOh Shug, I love this so much! It needs framed and put on the kitchen wall!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate your thankful Thursdays - you find such joy in the simplest of things.
ReplyDeleteLife is messy and unpredictable, but friends like you make it all worthwhile, Shug. We'll ride the waves together! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes, yes and yes! I love it all...especially the ice cream at the kitchen counter and laughing at yourself. I do that a lot!!
ReplyDeleteohh wonderful flower...I send You friday HUG!!!
ReplyDeleteI so agree with your sentiments.
ReplyDeletePerfectly said. Now hand over that ice cream...lol
ReplyDeleteShug, I love this post! I don't know if you realize it or not, but God is using you through this difficult time in life to show others just how amazing His grace truly is.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I wish I were better at this...laughing at myself. I'm "at that age" but am not quite able to be comfortable in my own skin yet. Sigh.
ReplyDelete“Some days are simply survival with lipstick and coffee.” What a clever way to phrase it. I had one of those days yesterday ….
ReplyDeleteCommon ground: I usually have put on my jammies by 6:30pm (and teeth brushed, all in time to sit down and watch the National News on TV). Bedtime is not until 9pm. And one side of my refrigerator door is covered with magnets.
Thanks for being so “real” in your blog posts.
๐❤️
ReplyDeleteImperfection abounds here:)
ReplyDeleteYour Thankfulness Overflows... I agree with it all!! xo
ReplyDeleteYes, self-deprecating humour is the best.
