Happy Thankful Thursday!!
This old photo popped up just in time for me to think about the things I am thankful for....
I LOVE old cowboy boots and these boots that are sitting in the Texas grass belong to our youngest grandson. If they could talk, they certainly could tell some stories. Chasing pigs, stomping in mud puddles and maybe doing a "Two Step" from time to time.
I am thankful for cowboy boots and for all that they represent. Grit, adventure and personality!!
I know....a weird post for a Thankful Thursday, but a pair of boots means a great heritage from our Texas roots and they mean leaving a legacy of watching generation after generation walking forward with the Lord.
Much to be thankful for!

Cowboy boots always remind me of my brother. That's all he wore for years.
ReplyDeleteEveryone in our area says they are very comfortable and the wear and they last a very long time even through the wear and tear.
Deletei always think of Rudyard Kipling's poem ''Boots.'
ReplyDeleteI have read that poem and you can definitely define the sound of a boot. I can't imagine hearing a full military of pounding boots. Wishing you a Thankful Thursday.
DeleteThose boots represent precious memories, Shug. I'd be thankful, too! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes they do Martha. These are the kind of boots that had to be left outside by the garage door!!
DeleteGreat picture, especially because they belonged to your grandson. I'm not a boot wearer, but we have the sweetest family in our church with 4 kids. The youngest is a girl who just turned one and all those kids wear boots - it's the sweetest!
ReplyDeleteMari...funny thing...he still has them. Of course, he has others as well, but this pair has made some steps. How sweet that the kids wear boots..
DeleteThere's something about Texans and their boots.
ReplyDeleteOh Yes Kathy. We have so many cowboys around here....lots of cows and pigs and such. Horses too..I forget about them..
DeleteThose boots are adorable and it does sound like they have quite a few stories. When I think of Texas I think of boots.
ReplyDeleteYes...I think every Texas owns a pair of boots...ladies as well.. These boots have been well worn. Trey is a big hunter and there is no telling how many steps this single pair of boot made at the farm.
DeleteI really liked how you recognize that those "cowboy boots" could tell some stories. It's an interesting way to look at so many of our possessions and think about their contribution to our lives. Shug- I always love your posts. Have a great week.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many small things in life that speak messages of memories... Thank you so much Judee...Thank you for always being so encouraging and for visiting me
DeleteI'm thinking of Nancy Sinatra's song, " these boots are made for walkin" 🎶
ReplyDeleteMy county is a ranching and farming area, rodeos etc so many wear boots. I love them! I appreciate the sentiment.
Oh I love a good pair of cowboy boots! I used to wear them often, but now my feet do not allow. I am hoping to do something cute with the grands when they outgrow them.
ReplyDeleteI can definitely understand the love of old boots and all the memories they entail!
ReplyDeleteMy husband does not wear boots, but in our closet I have a pair of my dads boots from after he passed away as well as my younger brothers boots after he passed last year. I have their cowboy hats as well.. They are keepers for sure.
DeleteNot a weird thankful post at all. Memories and future hopes and wishes go along with those boots.
ReplyDeleteSo many memories from each of them wearing boots. even the grand girls. they showed pigs and all just like their brothers.
DeleteHey Shug, Loved the post as we all wear cowboy boots around here! I have some sitting in my yard from our grandsons when they were little. All grown up now! Sweet memories and little cowboys are just my cup of tea! Hope you both are feeling better! And be careful doing those back flips!! LOL Hugs, Roxy
ReplyDeleteWoo hoo. Cowboy boots...everyone needs to own a pair or two.. lol. Yes, our boys when they were little went from cowboy boots during the day to baseball uniforms in the evenings. Quiet a mix..
DeleteI loved this, Shug! I hope you are having a wonderful week there in Texas. And I just read the update on you and Sam. Praying that he can begin to have several days in a row of feeling good and I am proud of you for going to the doctor! Are you doing flips yet? xx
ReplyDeleteIt has been a beautiful week this week...The weather has been great and the temps are perfect. Me too Dianna...seems like this immunotherapy is boosting his system. I'm hoping to do flips real soon. In our are, this crud stuff is hanging on for weeks and weeks.
DeleteThis is a perfect Thankful Thursday post. I adore those boots and the stories they could tell. I always wanted cowboy boots from a very early age but sadly never got any.
ReplyDeleteWill definitely keep Sam and you in my prayers. I pray that the Doctors can get his blood sugar under control and that his energy can return. So glad you went t the doctor and got meds for your cough and congestion. Praying this time of rest will recharge you and .... you know you really can't burn the candle at both ends to be at the top of your game.
Love you Sister ....
Sue
definitely appreciate the prayers. I think for me, my system is just run down more so that I thought and stress can do this. My dad was a big tall cowboy man...wore a hat and all the western gear. I grew up in the cowboy world. lol. My Sam is totally the opposite...he's not a fan of anything western style. So funny. love you too..
DeleteWhat a great memory to go with the boots! Hope that Sam's sugar levels stabilize and that you feel better every day!
ReplyDeleteI guess boots are pretty much iconic in Texas. A photo of boots makes some people automatically think of Texas. Quite a few people here wear boots. And of course we have that big new Boot Barn. That steroid shot ought to make you feel dandy. I always get the entire house cleaned when I am on steroids.
ReplyDeleteBeing thankful doesn't mean fitting it into a "box"! There are so many things to be thankful for in this life. Nice to see the boots!!! Thank you for linking up, Shug. Have a great weekend ahead.
ReplyDeleteI have seen cowboy boots used as a vase too - They are truly iconic Texas💘
ReplyDeleteThat's frame worthy!
ReplyDeleteI do not find it weird at all. They bring up lots of happy memories.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and Sam.
Love this! Cowboy boots always tell the best stories, and it’s so sweet thinking about all the little adventures they’ve had. Wishing you a happy weekend full of tiny joys and muddy puddles.
ReplyDeleteAnd you have all three: Grit, adventure and personality!
