GHD and tidbits

Ahh...Groundhog Day..

The one magical morning each February when all of America agrees to trust a groggy, fur covered rodent, who enjoys giving us 6 more weeks of Winter.  I'm thinking that this was just an ordinary early morning in 1887, when the Punxsutawney Club met to discuss the day..... Perhaps they were very cold and they may have been sipping on too much Rye/Bourbon early that morning.
Maybe the club members just needed to declare February 2nd as an important day, and suddenly a groundhog appeared.  IDK!
They then declared it Groundhog day!

Anyways....Happy Groundhog Day to each of you!!

Meanwhile, around here, our Heating Unit decided to stop working last Friday afternoon.  Sam called the company that installed our unit (only 4 years ago) to come check it.
Sure enough....a certain part had to be ordered.  Isn't this the way it always goes?
BUT....suddenly, Friday night the heat came back on!!  Thank goodness, we DID have heat all weekend.
The service guy will still come this morning to check things out.

I'm still battling a cold.  I actually think it's now a sinus infection. You know...the headache kind with yucky green mucous and streaks of blood.   I just spoke with my doctor's office and they are sending me out some meds.

****

It seemed to be a short weekend around here.  We did go out Saturday morning with the family to enjoy a 10:00 brunch....still celebrating Mylee.

We were home the rest of the weekend.....Sam slept a lot (his treatments make him very tired) and I just hung out in my comfy chair, with my computer and a box of Kleenex, working on taxes...  LOL.
It was a good cozy weekend right here at home!

****

For dinner this evening...
Salmon and roasted veggies.
Sweet Iced tea

This is it for this (still cold) Monday morning....

Shug. 💛

  1. I am so glad that your furnace came back on. What a long weekend it would have been if it hadn't since the furnace man said the part needed to be ordered.

Praying for you and Sam...glad you enjoyed the time to celebrate Mylee on Saturday morning for brunch.

    1. The Drug store delivery guy just showed up at my door with my prescription delivery....Thank goodness. I've had this crud all last week and over the weekend it seemed to settle big time in my sinuses. Headache! It's still cold around here and we actually still have ice on the ground..

  6. Shug, I'm so glad you got your heater up and running again. That's a must in the winter. Funny words about groundhog day and how it came about. I don't see them up here, and I'm glad cause the rodents freak me out haha. Take care, my dear, and feel better.

**I also put a little cash in the Valentine cards that I send the kids. They love it. ; ) So good of you to send some money to your out of state loved ones, so they can get a little surprise just for them. And I enjoyed reading about how those Valentines were some of your favorite memories at school. Wasn't that a fun day when we had our little Valentine boxes in the classroom? : )

    1. We do not have them around our area either. thank goodness. The squirrels drive me (nuts). lol. I'm not a fan of any kind of rodent. Yes..the little ones really don't care if you send them 5 ones or a 5 dollar bill...they just like to go shopping. lol.

I'm so sorry you have a sinus infection. Been there and done that too. Its miserable. Hope the new meds will do their job. In the meantime enjoy your down time and just rest.
Prayers continuing for Sam. Prayers for the procedures to do their job and that he will regain his energy.

    1. How nice to reach 65 degrees. Our heat is still running and how thankful I am. Part will not be here until Thursday. I think the Good Lord is watching over us with me not feeling well and Sam's blood count and platelets being so low. It would not be good if we didn't have the heat running. Thank you Sue for your love..

  13. Thank goodness your heat came back on, Shug! With your cold, or sinus infection, it's good that you laid low more or less over the weekend, too, and that the doc gave you some medicine to treat it. Praying it will go away soon and that Sam will also begin feeling better and not so tired.
    Blessings always!

  14. I didn't know until several years ago that February 2 and Groundhog Day is the midpoint between the winter solstice and the spring equinox.

  15. Glad your heat came back on! Things like that always happen around here. Glad you and Sam had a cozy weekend at home. Rest is best sometimes!

  16. Good thing your furnace started working again! Sounds like a sinus infection...hope the meds clear it up fast! Rest and drink lots of water!

  17. Oh no! So glad your heat did come back on. When you're sick the last thing you want to be is chilled to the bone. I hope you kick the crud soon! I wasn't surprised Phil saw his shadow - it feels like that kind of winter. ::sigh:: Just embracing it over here and staying cozy too and enjoying the beauty of the northwoods. A grateful heart helps everything, right? 💗 Blessings. xoxo

  18. I wonder what the groundhog's level of accuracy is. I wouldn't mind six more weeks of winter so much if it didn't involve ice. I am so paranoid about slipping and falling--unlike my neighbor's little girl who had great fun iceskating on the frozen snow in our courtyard (I just posted pictures).
    Hope you feel better soon.
    Praying for Sam.

  19. Oh, why does the heat go out as soon as it gets cold? Murphy's Law for sure!! Glad it came back on. I'm sorry you still don't feel well. I hope you can ditch that cold once the meds come. Winter is rough all the way around!! Feel better!

  20. I'm so happy y'all dodged the bullet on your HVAC! No doubt, 'someone upstairs' was looking after y'all.
Your cold-turned-sinus infection sounds downright miserable, but I'm glad you rallied enough to do brunch with Mylee. I rarely indulge, but that may be my favorite meal!
I'm praying your meds kick in tonight while you sleep.

  21. sorry to hear about the heating unit. glad the heat came back on for you so you didn't have to freeze

  22. How unnerving that would be to have your heat go out when its cold. IT always seems to happen that way. Once the AC went out at my son's house in a triple digit heatwave. It was during the pandemic and they had to order a part that took 3 weeks because of all that shipping debacle.
I've never had a sinus infections and from the sound of it, I'm glad. Must be painful. We got up to 72 today. Just lovely.

  23. Is it still 2 February? It is certainly cold as it was yesterday and the day before yesterday and the day before ...

    God bless. Keep warm.

  24. Sorry about the sick thing, but glad you were warm and cozy and a good doctor who sends meds, ours don't do that.

  25. I just went to see the doctor this morning. He wasn't feeling well; I took him some hot chicken soup and stayed with him a while.

Praying you get better soon. God bless.
