1. What's something recent that had you 'tickled pink'?
2. A bed of roses, everything's coming up roses, every rose has it's thorn, stop and smell the roses, rose-colored glasses, a rose among thorns...which rosy expression might currently be applied to your life in some way?
3. What makes you feel loved and appreciated?
4. A box of chocolates or a bouquet of fresh flowers-what's your pleasure? Any special plans for Valentine's Day?
I am not a fan of chocolates and being that I owned a flower shop in past years.....I will have to go with FLOWERS!! I do love flowers but I prefer to arrange my own.
Special plans? Sam and I actually went out to eat last weekend for Valentines and he also gave me a very nice gift. I had misplaced my ear buds and for this reason he knew I really needed some new ones. I enjoy listening to music each night before I fall off to sleep....This was the Perfect gift.
5. Share a favorite quote, scripture, or song lyric relating to love.
Song: "When I said I do" by Clint Black:
When I said I do, I meant that I will 'till the end of all time. Be faithful and true, devoted to you...That's what I had in mind when I said I do.
Truer than true, you know that I'll always be there for you.....that's what I had in mind when I said I do.
My Quote: "Our vows spoken once, being lived out every single day." "To say "I Do' is to choose the same heart, again, and again, for a lifetime."
6. Insert your own random thought here.
My random thought: How many others keep every card their husband has ever given them? I've been keeping, not only Valentines cards, but every single card my husband has ever given me for the past 53 plus years. (We dated 4 years before we got married).
Here are my thoughts..... Keeping Valentine's cards from my husband for fifty-three years plus, feels like holding a handwritten timeline of our love. For me these cards are more than ink and paper....each of them holds the season of life that we were in and the jokes that made us laugh. Some of them are simple, some of them are worn at the edges, and some of them look as beautiful as the day I first opened their envelopes. They all whisper the same truth....that He loves me!

What an adorable photo of you! Wow. I enjoyed this Hodgepodge draped in pink. Oh and all those cards! My mom saved boxes and boxes of cards and letters from everyone she loved. It was fun to go through and of course I had to keep a few but most were tossed. I felt bad about it.
ReplyDeleteI'd pick, "stop and smell the roses" as well. Enjoy this day, Shug that the Lord has made!
Amen Debby...The day that the Lord hath made...I love it and it is a beautiful morning around here already. I don't know what will happen to all my cards when I am gone, but at least they will all know these things were important to me.
DeleteCute pick! Pink is your color! I'm trying to be a stop and smell the roses girl this year, too. It's not always easy, but I'm trying! Enjoy the week!
ReplyDeleteso true Kim...it's not always easy, but it sure beats the low times that one can feel when we don't work to be positive... Have a good one!! Beautiful day here in East Texas.
DeleteWhat a fun and cute photo!
ReplyDeleteI love how you described "Stop and Smell the Roses" and your family does look like a lot of fun!
Yep! I keep all the cards that anyone gives me, not jus the one's off my fella.
Thanks Kim.. I do have a witty family..we have fun. My husband laughed at me when I was digging through some of the cards yesterday...I can't help it...they all are so important. Hope your day is amazing..
DeleteI love the photo of you, your boots are so fun. Just what I need in the Wisconsin snow!! ;-)
ReplyDeleteI was cleaning our library the other day. I found a big fat envelope, inside were all the letters our son wrote to us during his time at Basic Training.
xo
Carla
you are like me....I too have the letters from our grandson...I just can't get rid of them. Have a great day Carla..
DeleteThis is a lovely post Shug! That picture of you is the cutest. I love that you've kept all your valentines from Sam.
ReplyDeleteHey Mari... Sam laughs at me sometimes because I am very sentimental.. A simple Valentines Day card is enough because in my case, it last for years and years to come. Happy Valentines week
DeleteSigh ... this is so beautiful Shug. I feel the same way about my husband too. 62 plus 2 years of dating before our "I Do-s"
ReplyDeleteYour photo is gorgeous and I love how you do stop and smell the roses.
Happiness
Sue
What a special blessing it is to have friends whose love is so deep. I think we all feed off of each other when we are in a marriage that is so true and honest. It's wonderful to see married couples who have stood the test of time and fill their homes with so much love. This is what I see in you and Dave.
DeleteThis is so sweet dear Shug! Love all of the fun photos (that one of you is so cute!) I'm a flowers girl too. And a sentimental card keeper. Blessings to you and Sam for a cozy Valentines weekend ahead - even though you already celebrated. Hope you enjoy just snuggling in. 💗
ReplyDeleteBlessings to you and Matt Carrie...Hope this special love day is a day that build sweet memories for the two of you.. hugs.
DeleteThe photo of you is gorgeous! But your face is so pretty that it would look good in any kind of photo. I save every meaningful and homemade card that I get. It's fun to know you once owned a flower shop. You must be an expert! no wonder you have such a beautiful garden and poolside!
ReplyDeleteOh Ginny....your kindness is so loved. One of my passions is flowers and I loved every day that I spent in the shop. Just knowing that what you are working on will brighten someones day made this work so sweet. No expert...my mom was for sure! She knew her flowers and taught me so much..
DeleteI adore that photo of you, Shug. Yes, indeed, you are pretty in pink! I do love flowers instead of chocolates for Valentine's, and like you, I've saved every card that Danny has given me over the years. Guess we're both just hopeless romantics - LOL! Blessings!
ReplyDeleteFor me, flowers are like fingerprints from the Lord. Each one made so special. Yep...isn't it fun being hopeless romantics? Have a great rest of your day Martha.. Blessings.
DeleteYour answers to this week's Hodgepodge are priceless, my friend. And the picture of you in pink? Also, priceless and beautiful! I loved all of your sentiments regarding Valentine's Day and the cards that you have kept from Sam for 53 years plus! You are such a blessing.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed playing with this picture...lol. Thank you so much Dianna. Your friendship is very valuable to me.
DeleteWhat a beautiful post! I love all that you have said. Your words, when the world has eased its grip on me... what a constructive/kind way to phrase it.
ReplyDeleteYou are always so sweet Barbara.. Thank you for this.
DeleteWhat a pretty picture! I save cards too. I feel like sending them is becoming a lost art and that makes me a little bit sad. I also like the Clint Black song and remember it from years ago. I hadn't heard it in a long time, but the lyrics are so good. Have a nice weekend with your Valentine.
ReplyDeleteI love that you have kept every card that your husband has given you.
ReplyDeleteI love that pink photo - you got that on Facebook?
I have to admit I would take chocolate.
I also love your family fun!
Oh Shug. That was a darling post. Loved it. Guess what? I keep cards ,too. My husband is gone now so I cherish his cards to me more than ever.Hugs. Susan
ReplyDeleteShug, this is a lovely post. I keep cards, too :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun picture that is of you. I didn't know you owned a flower shop. How fun that must have been.
ReplyDeleteI used to save cards but no longer since I had to go through all the cards my Mother kept for 50 years:(
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet post! Praying that you both start feeling better. ❤️
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteI have kept the cards TheHub has given me, but I am rethinking it. Like Far Side of Fifty, we had to go through 60+ years of cards Mom kept.(Every single card she received from every person.) Though a few of them were fun to see, it was a little overwhelming.
That photo is adorable. Lovely answer for #2. Sweet family picture and I'm glad your family makes you feel loved. Glad you had a nice Valentine's celebration. Love your answers for #5. That's lovely that you keep the cards. I do too but I can't even remember where they are now....LOL!
