Simple Metal Shelf

Simple Metal Shelf.....Who said????

Back a few weeks ago, I purchased this shelf.  Of course....it had to be put together.   I thought it would so EASY.   No, No, No....... My first mistake was in thinking it would be simple.
This past week, Sam and I ATTEMPTED
to put it together, which did not work out so well.

We had all the pieces separated, and the instructions right in front of us.
After several attempts, we finally just stopped and put everything back in the box.
First of all, Sam was way too tired to work on this project.  Second of all, I'm not good at following directions.

I called in the team this morning!!
It was way too cold for them to put this thing together out in the garage, so they borrowed our living area, and this worked out great.
It also made it easy since I have a big indoor storage room.  When they finished, they just had to slide it into that room..

Mylee, Trista, Tom and Shanda had this thing put together in about 20 minutes.

Here it is in my store room.  They moved it in and even placed the containers on the shelving.
All I need to do now is label each box.

Here they are celebrating a job well done.
Thank goodness for my family!!

All it takes is the younger generation to get things done for you.

  1. yaaay, I'm glad they got it figured out. It looks nice in your store room, and all your bins look organized. I've been doing a bit of that myself. I'm not good at following directions either, Shug. ; ) This shelf will really come in handy for you.

  3. Looks like one needed some engineering skills to put this together. But they did a great job! I find that directions come with smaller and smaller print, and some are actually only in Chinese! Just a couple hours ago, we spent quite a while with a huge magnifying glass trying to decipher tiny instructions. Hey, this is a great idea for a post, I'll keep that in mind.

  4. Young ones to the rescue! I love how they all descended upon this challenge and helped Sam and you out when you most needed it. Family is the most precious gift that we could ever have. Blessings, Shug!

  7. Yay for the family rescue!!! I can not follow written directions, I am getting frustrated just typing those words.. Bob can sit down and follow step by step and most of the time just wing it. He even helped the PT's in the hospital put together the knee walker. they were struggling and he told them what to do and they were shocked he was right..
Now for the fun and games of filling those boxes. You may need them to return to put them back when they are full. I know I would..

  8. Hooray for the team. I've bought a few things that needed to be put together and the directions are not always very clear. That's a nice shelf for holding those totes

  11. Glad you could call in the troops to help! We one time tried to assemble a small piece of furniture and eventually after many failed attempts had to hire a neighbors son to put it together. Glad It all worked out. Have a great week.
