1. I live in the south so we're pretty much only talking about the weather right now. Give us a weather report from where you live. Does the kind of weather you're having today affect your mood in some way?
What our area looks like right now ↑↑↑↑. We still have a lot of ice and especially in the shady areas. Many of our country roads are still covered in ice.
My mood? I'm still trying to recover from this head cold, so just feeling a bit yuck. Just keeping it real. This too shall pass!!
2. Avocados, kale, cauliflower and cottage cheese have all had their time to shine. 2026 brings us the year of the cabbage. Is this a vegetable you like? If so, what are some of your favorite dishes that call for cabbage?
I LOVE cabbage!! The only thing I don't love is the smell it leaves in my kitchen when I am cooking it.
One of my very favorite cabbage dishes is: Cabbage soup!! The more cabbage, the more I enjoy it. My second favorite would be Spanish slaw. YUM!! Cabbage, dill pickles, green bell peppers, fresh parsley, shredded carrots, red bell peppers...
3. Was a Cabbage Patch Doll a part of your childhood? Or maybe your children's childhood? What's a toy trend from your childhood you remember wanting for your own?
Oh Yes...the infamous Cabbage Patch Dolls...The gift that every parent thought their daughter had to have. Both of our daughters each had a couple of them. They Still Have Them!!
I so remember the 1980's....All of the Toy Store madness...the long lines. The competitive sport of finding these dolls. The adoption papers and the unique names! The soft faces, yarn hair, and the iconic signature.
Back in my younger years it was "BARBIE".... I remember going to the Sears store and seeing the dolls and the outfits that could be purchased for the dolls. I had a few....but I was more into playing outside with my sister and brothers. Riding bikes, shooting BB guns, playing hide and seek.
4. Something you've spent a lot of time doing lately?
Enjoying our home...cooking (Yes, I have been doing a lot of cooking)....spending time with my husband and taking care of him. Reading blogs as I love the wisdom that I gain from all of my blogging friends.
5. Somehow it's the last week of January...sum up your month in just three sentences.
1. January felt full in all the ways that matter...tending to family, going to doctor appointments and showing up for the BIG moments while learning to pivot when plans shifted.
2. January held a mix of concerns as well as celebrations and meaningful milestones that all seemed to weave together as they should.
3. I have been learning to be content and steady....not rushing, but allowing myself the extra time I need to to sit quietly and enjoy being home.
6. Insert your own random thought here.
Why have I waited so long to go through and delete pictures on my phone and my laptop? The past weekend (during our ICE days) I deleted over three thousand pictures from my computer and my iPhone. Many of them were duplicates and many were pictures of things that I no longer need. It felt really good to get this done!!
Wishing you all a day full of sunshine...
Shug..💛

I love a good phone photo clean up. I have tried for the past several months to do a little trick my daughter mentioned. I type in the date (no year) in the search bar and all the photos taken on that date come up. Then I delete as I want. It's less overwhelming and slowly but surely I'm getting there. I hope you're feeling better! Reading blogs today has put me in the mood to make cabbage soup.
ReplyDeleteWell done on the photo clean up - I do it periodically but not as often as I should and I keep meaning to get the best pics printed but..... Hope you're soon over your cold. We've had no snow but sooo much rain in January but today the sun is shining.
ReplyDeleteJust thinking about doing a major photo dump stresses me out. 😩 They are already saved in multiple clouds out there. We're looking at a new desktop sometime this year so I won't bother with that chore. The phone is easier. The frosted cabbage makes a pretty photo.
ReplyDeleteI love cabbage. :-) There is nothing like going out to the garden and picking a fresh head of cabbage to make a salad.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about a good phone clean/computer files clean, it makes one feel good.
Sending a HUG... get well soon.
Carla
I'm glad you are continuing to be Still. You are such a blessed wife, Mom, grandma and friend to so many. You sure have shown it during this month of January.
ReplyDeleteLove all your answers.
Continue to get better from that horrible cold and I am praying for you and Sam too.
Sue
I didn't know that cabbages survive so well. All of the ice sounds awful. I hope you feel better soon.
ReplyDeleteI think that's why I like to eat cabbage when I am out for a Sunday lunch because of the smell it leaves.
I did the same, sorting out my photos on my phone and laptop over the last few weeks. It freed up so much space.
