Yesterday could not have been a more beautiful day. The sun was shining and the high was in the upper 60's.
Tammy and I decided to eat out on the patio of the Mexican restaurant we had lunch at. Just look that tall glass of Southern Sweet Tea. The tea alone was worth stopping at this place.
We had the joy of watching this sweet little bird as it sat on the wall, just waiting for some kind of crumb to fall. Talking about being STILL (my word for the year) this bird was so content as it patiently waited for it's lunch.
We also had the pleasure of enjoying these colorful lights...They added to the sweetness of our time spent enjoying a delicious meal.
Tammy ordered spinach enchiladas with Sour cream sauce....beans and rice.
I had a small plate of bean and cheese nachos!
I intended to take a picture of both our our meals, but I guess I was too hungry and just dug in. lol.
We DID NOT make it over to Hobby Lobby....I can't believe it.
Instead, we went to "At HOME" and purchased a new bedside lamp for her room. For Christmas, I gave her a soft, baby blue bedspread, so of course, we needed a matching lamp.
Our next stop was to the Optical shop. She needed new eye glasses and we already had her prescription, which made this so easy. We can check this off of our list of things needed for the new year.
On our way home, we saw this in the sky. It stayed there for what seemed forever. The "V" Reminded me of a flock of geese flying South for the Winter...
I am so thankful to have the opportunity to share my outings with my sweet little niece. She truly has the most precious heart.
For any of you who are new to my blog...Tammy lives at a facility for adults with mild to moderate disabilities. She loves it there and the friends she has are all such a huge blessing, not only to her but to us, her family.
Blessing flow all around us...don't they?
Shug....💛
I just found your blog today through Visits With Mary...it is delightful!
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed hearing about your niece and the fun day you enjoyed together.
The Lord is so good to us. His mercies are new every morning.
Have a blessed day.

DeleteI know you must love her, over the Moon.

Donna
She is like my extra daughter and she blesses me so much.
DeleteWhat a blessing that you have each other. I can feel the love! Such a nice outing and I do admire that beautiful bedspread you got her. Funny how those birds hang around waiting for a crumb to drop. So cute. Happy New year !
ReplyDeleteI have been taking care of her (of course, she lives at the village) for about 20 years now...ever since my mom passed away. Her mom was my sister and she died when Tammy was only 3. Mom and dad raised her, but now...I take care of her needs outside of the residence where she lives.
DeleteYou and Tammy had an enjoyable day together, doing simple things. Nothing better.
ReplyDeleteYou are so right...it's all about the simple things and we both enjoyed every minute of our time together.
DeleteSuch a lovely time with Tammy. I envy your sunshine and temperatures. It is still freezing here.
ReplyDeleteGod bless.
Our sunshine yesterday was so pretty...today, it's very cloudy with expected rains.
DeleteA lovely place to eat, fresh air and pretty lights. You got two things done off your list plus a fun time out together. that was also a blessing flowing around the two of you
ReplyDeleteIt's always good to get to place a check mark by "things to do" list. It was such a beautiful day...I think we both would have been content just sitting there like the little bird.
DeleteWhat a nice day you had, even without Hobby Lobby. Good for you!
ReplyDeleteWe had a very gray day here yesterday, but today the sun is shining!
I can't believe we didn't have to stop at Hobby Lobby.....or as Tammy calls it, Hobby Lobbies! lol.
DeleteWhat a special day!
ReplyDeleteThanks Jim...It's amazing how important days are like this for those who have disabilities.
DeleteSounds like a fun day, and the Mexican Restaurant looks so festive with those colored lights. Your meals sound delicious. Love that picture of the bird with the pretty yellow flowers. I hope she found the perfect lamp to go with her new blue bedspread. The "V" shape in the sky reminds me of Valentine's Day! Yes, blessings flow all around us, big and small. Shug. : )
ReplyDeleteHey Sheri...This restaurant really does have some good food. Our Mexican food is much different from other areas in the Country. We have what is known as Tex-mex. Chili, jalepenos, Queso, Enchiladas stuffed with meat..even BBQ if you want. I really thought the V was so unusual.
DeleteBlessings always flow when we're still enough to see them. So happy to know that Tammy and you had a marvelous day together, Shug. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteMartha...Tammy loves our day's out. Of course, she always has several stops that she wants to make...This is okay though because it allows her the opportunity to shop for things that she feels is important.
DeleteYou are very pretty in pink today! Great photos of your outing. The bedspread is gorgeous! It looks like there is some kind of painting on the ceiling above the lights. The little bird by the yellow flowers is such a sweet photo.
ReplyDeleteGinny...You are very observant and this is great...It means that you take the time to really see the whole picture of things. Yes, there is a painting on the ceiling to the restaurant...There is a big beer bottle painted on the ceiling... I would have preferred looking at a big sombrero. lol..
DeleteI used to work with students with that diagnosis, and I loved each and every one of them. They are the sweetest kids in the entire world and so very happy, kind, and loving. Nice you go shopping with her and help her. Sounded like a fun day.
ReplyDeleteTammy has been living at this village for 4 years now but before that, she attended the day program 3 days a week. I've been blessed in getting to know the residents and they truly are so very sweet. She does love our days out together...
DeleteWhat a beautiful special day you had. The spread you gave Tammy is such a soft shade of blue. I know she was thrilled with it. I love those blessed days with special people.
ReplyDeleteLove your new header so much.
I like how you incorporated your word Still.
Sue
Thank you Sue. I try to get her at least once a month to go out and have a special day. She loves our outings and just really loves Mexican food. lol. I threw this header together this morning...I enjoy changing it up. Hope y'all are not still getting rain? We are supposed to have some this afternoon..
DeleteI always enjoy when you share about Tammy. I think the facility she lives in is really special, a blessing.
ReplyDeleteHave a great day Shug.

Loved following along on your day with your sweet niece. It sounds like it was one of those picture perfect days. The food sounded wonderful and any shopping is always a plus in my book!
