1. Are you a risk Taker?
I am not a risk taker.... I like to know what's coming before i jump into something. I admire people who take big risk, but I've learned that peace of mind matters more to me than the thrill of the unknown. My kind of "Risk" usually involves trying a new recipe or taking spontaneous road trip... Nothing too wild like climbing a mountain, or bungee jumping. Perhaps enough of a risk to keep life interesting.
2. What's your favorite candy? Would you say you have a sweet tooth?
I'm not really a candy eater BUT I do have a sweet tooth.
Cakes and pies are my go-to indulgences and especially if they are homemade. Give me a warm slice of egg custard pie...pecan pie.... OR a German chocolate cake....carrot cake or even a strawberry cake, and I am in love! Candy just can not compete with pies and cakes.
3. Somewhere you've been recently that had you feeling "Like a kid in a candy store"?
The Christmas Store!! I could wander those aisles for house. All the twinkling lights, sparkly ornaments, ribbons and cozy scents, totally fills my heart with joy and a lot of nostalgia. When I visit a store like this, I always leave with my heart feeling a little lighter....and maybe a few Christmas items that I don't really need.
4. What do you think is the most effective way to make a positive change in the world?
Gosh...I sure wish I had an immediate answer that could work overnight. Love and Kindness is the most powerful ripple maker there is. Small acts, a smile, a listening ear, a thoughtful word can really change a person's day. And...if we come somehow change the the way many of our younger generation see things. Especially the belief that they DESERVE everything they want. Teaching gratitude, hard work, and the appreciation for the little things, would shift so much. Things in life are earned, not OWED.
5. Do you like surprises?
I Do NOT like surprises for myself, but I do love to surprise others. Planning something special for someone, a small gift, a heartfelt note, or some kind of kindness for others makes my face light up when I see their joy. This is my favorite kind of surprise.
6. Insert you own random thought here:
I've been thinking about the people in Jamaica and how will they move forward after Hurricane Melissa. It is hard to imagine the strength it takes to rebuild after something so devastating. I have been to Jamaica a few times and I have both the beauty of this Country and I have seen the poverty that many of these people live in. My heart goes out to them. May their strength and sense of community help them rebuild and find hope. Prayers for this Country and these people..

Thanks, Shug. We have a broken down purple deck that makes for a perfect little mini playground for photos. Was fun. Not a fan of that movie, though enjoyed the minis.
ReplyDeleteChristmas store sounds fun. I'd love to take my macro lens there. Last week I got my first Christmas mini and it's been fun shooting. I love the bright fun of Christmas lights and that stuff.
Wishing you a wonderful rest of the Halloween week with a great big side of boogie boogie 🎃👻🧡💜🎃👻
isn't it nice that the purple deck comes in handy?? yay for you on the Christmas mini.. excited to see your christmas header!! you too Ivy.. have a super duper day!!
DeleteI love it. It's such a broken down deck with purple and then some regular wood tossed in and these are the kinds of scenes I love to set the minis in.
DeleteThe first one I got was Rudolph! So cute.
Question I forgot to ask first time around. What is it about surprises for your you don't like?
Good morning, Shug. It was good to read your answers here this morning. Yes, to a road trip or trying something new in the kitchen. The photos coming to us from Jamaica are so sad. Praying right now for the people of Jamaica.
ReplyDeletemy heart goes out to this people. I'm always trying new things in the kitchen. some are good and some are like "not again". . have an awesome day
Delete#1? Cautious, uber control-leaning me agrees with your every word. Love and kindness trumps all, doesn't it? Praying for Jamaica and those in Melissa's path.
ReplyDeleteChocolate is my weakness - well, one of them. I prefer giving to receiving, particularly surprises.
ReplyDeleteI feel the same about taking risks and the biggest risks I take are with recipes in the kitchen.
ReplyDeleteYum to the pie and cakes!
I love all the Christmas things in the stores, I can spend forever just browsing.
I have seen clips of what has happened in Jamaica, it is terrible.
I have to say I love your front porch photo in the header!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate how you answered #4, so well said and I agree 100%!!
ReplyDeletePraying with you for those in the path of the hurricane.
Carla
We've been praying for the people of Jamaica, too, Shug. I enjoy surprising others with unexpected gifts, too, when I can. I think I'd love wandering through the Christmas store, too. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteI'm not a risk taker either and like you, I'm not one that likes to be surprised, but it sure is fun to surprise others.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a pie lover, but cake sounds pretty good - and a little dark chocolate!
Praying for Jamaica. What a terrible hurricane.
I am exactly with you about taking risks!! The Christmas tree is gorgeous; it looks like it is decorated in bubbles! Just read about the C.T. results and the biopsy, am continuing to pray for good results!
ReplyDeleteThank you Ginny for the prayers. We have a virtual appointment tomorrow and they will set up the biopsy at that time. I thought the same thing about the tree...looks like bubbles.
DeleteI live beside (and somewhat in ) the area hit hard by Helene last year. Recovery is ongoing, and lots of places are still a mess. I am praying for Jamaica too. I love a German chocolate cake and pies of any kind. I love that tree! Have a wonderful day!
ReplyDeleteI guess there are a lot of us that aren't risk takers. Sometimes its so scary and uncomfortable. Then come the words ... Trust and Obedience ...
ReplyDeleteI do like chocolate but will go for a scoop of ice cream every time instead.
Prayers for you and Sam and the virtual appointment tomorrow.
Hugs
Sue
Visiting you today from the Hodgepodge. Your blog is so beautifully set up, you have a wonderful family (pictures tell all), and your opinions are spot on (in my opinion!!). I especially like the graphic in your right-hand column defining grace and mercy. Thank you for sharing yourself with the blogging community.
ReplyDeleteThank you Barbara for visiting me...I do hope you will stop by again.. and thank you for the prayers. We are in a medical storm right now, but we are believing God for His healing...
DeleteP.S. Just saw the update on Sam. I'm praying this all goes well.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading your answers today, Shug. I guess I'm a bit of a risk taker, if that means diving into something without knowing the outcome haha. Sometimes it works out, and sometimes it doesn't. I am a pie lover too, and who can resist that pecan pie? The Christmas store sounds wonderful. I can see why you love browsing through each isle, Shug. You are such a caring person thinking about all the people affected by the hurricane. The "love and kindness" quote you shared is perfect and so special. I can't believe October is coming to an end. And I hope you have sweet November days, Shug.
ReplyDelete~Sheri
I just said a prayer for Sam, and for you, dear Shug. I have been thinking of you through all of this. Sending love and comforting thoughts.
DeleteHope you are having a sunshiny day!
ReplyDeleteThank you Connie...you all as well.
DeleteRisk taker - I am like you - I take little risks - but not stupid ones. I love pecan pie and I love strawberry cake - my daughter makes a mean one. So good. Did you buy anything at the Christmas store?
ReplyDeleteAnd you are right Love and Kindness is never wasted.
Praying for Jamaca - you - and Sam.
My kiddos like chocolate cake, but not being a chocolate person, I just never make them. I did not buy one thing at the Christmas Store (it is in Midland) but a week later, I sent my granddaughter -in law to purchase a gift for my sweet neighbor.
DeleteI've never met a candy I didn't like :-)
ReplyDeleteHi Shug, thank you for visiting my blog! Your blog is so pretty! I would love to visit a Christmas store. Tomorrow I will visit the big store at Disneyland, and I know it will feel like a candy store. I have a few gift cards, and I want to get the Minnie 70th birthday ornament since I just turned 70 in August. I hope all is going well with your husband. My dad was named Sam too.
ReplyDeleteI don't like risks or surprises, either!
ReplyDeleteI have a really bad sweet tooth and my favorite candy is reeses peanut butter cups.
ReplyDeleteHi dear Shug, your photos are lovely, as always, and I enjoyed reading your responses.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your kind birthday wishes on my blog, I truly appreciate it. God bless you.
