Wearing White and a little humor

Can y'all believe that this is the first Friday of the new month?

I spent some time working in our closet yesterday...sorting clothes and debating if it was time to pull my Fall clothes forward.  I honestly think that the world we live in today no longer has strict guidelines.... I say if snow can be white in the winter, then this is all the  more reason that we can wear white all year long.

                      🌝❄🌝❄🌝❄🌝

Ah...September in Texas though...it's the season when fashion rules and the thermometer just don't agree. Somewhere out there, a rule book once existed that told us to put away our white pants, flip flops and shorts after Labor Day.  This rule popped into my head yesterday when I was hanging up my white pants.

But...to be real, when it's still pushing the 90 degree temps and the sun is bold enough to give you a tan or a full sunburn within 15 minutes, why should the white pants have to suddenly be hidden?

Try telling a Texan, "It's Fall now, pull out your corduroys and replace your flip flops with boots.  Corduroys?  Not unless they come with built in air conditioning.  White pants, on the other hand, are practically a survival strategy...they reflect the sun and they don't remind you of a pumpkin spice latte that you are not quiet ready to sip on.

Besides, summer down here doesn't politely bow out after Labor Day...it lingers for a while.  It waves at you from the porch while you're sipping on a glass of ICED sweet tea in one hand and holding a church fan in the other.  So, why should our closets pretend otherwise?

Here is my conclusion in the Great Closet Debate:  Texans, or people in the deep South need to keep wearing white pants, white shorts, or even our sundresses as long as the sun keeps acting like it's July.

Seriously, if you can still fry an egg on the driveway, then you certainly do not need to rush pulling out those dark pants and sweaters.

I've actually been known to wear flip flops all year long and most likely will continue to do so.  My white pants? They might look cute with a Jingle bell sweater come December.  If you all are like me...I don't really have any rules when it comes to my attire... as long as I'm comfortable and as long as I'm not burning up or freezing, this is what is most important.

Adding a little humor here today!!

Y'all have a great day and just make sure you do wear some kind of  CLOTHES today!!  No birthday suits allowed.  😅😅😅😅😅

 lol..😅

Shug....

** Prayers for safe travels today.  Trista and I will be traveling to Dallas today for her doctor's appointment.  Thank you!

  1. I know a family of Texans who left their home there and moved to Maine for the husband to pastor a church. He's told us some interesting stories of the adjustments they had to make when they first moved. Loved your sense of humor through all of this. Praying for you and Trista as you travel to Dallas for her doctor appointment.

  2. Praying for safe travels for you & Trista, honey. Let us know how things come out. As to the colors of clothes, my mother used to follow those "rules" years ago, God rest her soul. Light colored purses & shoes got put away until the following spring, along with light blouses & slacks. I've never followed that rule but I'm a simpleton of sorts and have a very limited closet selection. I have 4-5 long-sleeved shirts and 4-5 short-sleeved shirts and that's my everyday attire. I have a few pieces I wear if I have to "dress up" to go someplace but other than that, it's the same ole same ole. Can I call myself an old-fashioned country woman? *lol* Love you, Andrea xoxo

  3. Good morning, I am in agreement. Yesterday was in the nineties and today it is in the seventies. I just like to feel comfy, yet may my clothes match LOL Let me just say it's been so crazy around the homestead. No internet, C scare for myself. Family hunting trips, Vertigo. Geesh. is it almost bedtime yet? Hugs, Roxy

  4. Wear what is comfortable. In UK, a hint of sunshine is enough to send some people into their shorts and tee shirts, and the next day back into warm clothes.

  5. I follow the white rule after Labor Day and do put away some of the clothes that scream summer, but keep shorts , tee shirts & flipflops, in my drawers and closet year round, because you never know. I still have hot weather clothes because even though Labor day has passed it is supposed to be in the mid 90's here today and will continue to be hot until usually sometime in mid October.

  6. You’re so funny! 😆

I never abided by those rules either. My mom was born and raised in Ohio so she was very into those fashion protocols but living here, it’s always been anything goes and no one even thinks about it. I actually look forward when it’s cool enough to wear a cardigan sweater over my tank top. I run hot, so unless we get really freezing temperatures , I’m still dressing in thinner fabrics. Now I dress for comfort and while I do wear flip flops, I’m not wearing them as much because for me who tends to walk fast, it’s a trip factor. I told my husband, I probably have come to the point where I need sandals with more foot support and straps.

Enjoyable post Shug. Thanks for the morning smiles.

  9. Shug, me and Nel were just talking to little Mia about some of the fashion rules, and wearing white pants after Labor Day came up in the conversation. I think one has to go by where each person lives. Here, in northern California, I got in my car early in the morning, and it was chilly, and I had to put on a sweater when I washed down the front porch, so the Fall clothes will be out soon enough. But I think you're right, whatever makes you comfortable with the temps you are having, that is the best thing. Whispering a prayer for you and Trista for safe travels, my friend. I so enjoy coming over here and visiting with you, Shug.
