Well sweet friends...I had to put on my "youthful pants" yesterday and again today. And believe me, they were a little snug at first!! My 14-month-old great grandson is staying with me while his parents are off enjoying a big wedding weekend in the Dallas area. Tucker's very best friend is getting married and there are a lot of events that will be taking place over the next few days. While all of this celebrating is going on, I will be having a pretty big event happening right here at home....keeping up with a toddler.
we have read books, chased balls, stacked blocks, danced in the kitchen, been out to see the big plastic owl that sits on our fence, and I've even sung a few songs that I thought I had long forgotten. Nap times are GOLD, not just for him, but for me too!! Let's just say my recliner and I have become close companions in those quiet hours. William does take a 2 to 3 hour nap, so I rest in my big chair during this time.
But oh, the joy of it all. Our grands and great-grands are pure blessings.....little bundles of energy and laughter that keep our hearts forever young!! They remind us that love spills over from generation to generation, and no matter how tired our bodies may feel, our spirits are lifted with every smile, hug and giggle. I appreciate Tucker and Emily for having the confidence in me to watch their precious baby boy.
There are some moments that make life rich.....the sticky fingers reaching for mine, the sound of baby laughter echoing through the house, the joy of knowing that I get to be part of their world, and my heart being filled with love as William reaches out his tiny arms for me. Yes, my youthful pants are working overtime, but I sure wouldn't trade it for anything.
Clap you hands and tap your toes,
Round and round the laughter goes!
Jump up high and spin around,
Happy hearts make joyful sounds.
Sending hugs and happy thoughts your way for a beautiful day!
Shug....💛

Children are such a blessing. We recently spent time with four of our great nephews and had so much fun...just for a few hours. They are a delight.
ReplyDeleteIt is a blessing for sure, to be part of your great grands life! Enjoy this special time, and then enjoy a little rest!
ReplyDeletethat is great he takes a long nap and you can recharge in your recliner. you are right, it is a special blessing.. not sure there any pants youthful enough to help me, but I can tell you are loving it
ReplyDeleteAawww - so sweet! I could not love this post more. I pray all the time Matt & I are blessed with at least 1 grandchild. It must be so amazing! Enjoy lovely Lady. And yep, smart to get in those naps when you can. I remember that from the Momma days. Lol Have a blessed weekend. xo

ReplyDeleteYou are blessed. Have fun and enjoy because before you know it, they’re grown.
ReplyDeleteOh, such a sweet and precious little boy, Shug! Yes, treasure even the times the young ones wear you out with their boundless energy because, as we know, those moments are a fleeting treasure. Blessings and have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteShug, I just ate up every part of this post.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you could put on your youthful pants and plant those memory seed in your heart. What a precious little guy. Fun packed days and thank goodness for your recliner...Love that picture of William.

I know just what you are going through!!!! I always say that watching our grandbabies and toddlers makes us feel so young at heart, but old in our body!!!
ReplyDeleteGirl, you're making me poop-tired just reading of your and William's adventures. He's so adorable. What's that they say, "Good looks can get you anything and everywhere."
ReplyDeleteOh how wonderful! What a blessing and a joy! A sweet, happy, busy little boy! I am so happy for you and also for him! He's having quite a wonderful treat! Thank you for sharing your joy with us!
ReplyDeleteWhat a joy to watch your great grandson for a while, Shug. I would rather watch a little bundle of joy than going to any party or event. He's so cute. Our motherhood kicks in when a little one is left in our care. It is tiring for sure as we get older, but it is the greatest feeling. I just watched Charlotte all day for a week, and those memories will be with me forever. I bet William loved the Owl that sits on your fence, but especially the songs that you sang him, and Yes, they come back to us, every word. ; ) Such a sweet post of grandbaby love, Shug.

God help these kids and grandkids, with AI and H1B visa holders taking all the jobs, they have little to look forward to. I just arrived back in the States from the ME, Qatar Airways flight with 400plus on board almost all from India, going to the US to work. Not so years ago, kids now have no future.
ReplyDeleteYou are so funny with that picture. Yes, nap times are gold!
ReplyDeleteChildren are on of God's best blessings. He is so cute. That is awesome that you are able to do it for your children. Love naptimes.
ReplyDeleteShug, what fun! But you'll probably sleep for days after he leaves :) hahaha I love being with all my babies. They are such little blessings and they say the funniest things that keep us laughing.
ReplyDeleteHow much fun this must be. Keeping up with a little one though does give you a new appreciation for naps.
ReplyDeleteLove the picture. He is so cute.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your time with your special little blessing.
I do miss the little ones, now they are grown!
