Yesterday turned out to be a sweet little day 🌸🌸. I met up with my dear friends for lunch and the fellowship sure filled my cup. We each enjoyed a delicious chicken salad sandwich, sweet tea, and a side dish as well.
Afterwards, we treated ourselves to the movie "Downton Abbey." I have watched all of the series of this show and so enjoyed each episode... Seeing the Crawley family and their crew on the big screen felt like a long awaited reunion with old friends... I love the British accents and the fine living....from the dishes set out in grand style to the gorgeous dresses floating through each scene. It's elegance wrapped in a story, and it just simply made me smile.
Somewhere between our lunch and the credits rolling, we even squeezed in a little planning for our Branson trip later this year. Just the thought of it has me excited. We will be going to the Sight and Sound theater to watch "David" ... shopping...riding golf carts through nature...and the best part is that there will be plenty of memories to be made.
Skipping to another topic....Back at home, Sam had a little excitement of his own. For two years now, he's been tending to his dragon fruit plant. And guess what? It is finally showing off with it's first bloom. This one bloom means that a fruit is on the way. Watching him beam over his favorite plant is like watching a kid at Christmas. Who knew that a simple plant and bloom could bring such joy? (And bragging rights?)
The day was wonderful and now I am very behind on reading each of your post. I have a lot of catching up to do today...
Wishing you all a wonderful day....I am asking God to be your steady rock during these unpredictable times... Love to all..
Shug...

I have never seen a dragon fruit plant, let alone one of it flowers, before.

ReplyDeleteI did not know this about your dad...how neat!! Sam loves his greenhouse and he enjoys growing unique plants.
DeleteWhat an exquisite bloom! Wow.
ReplyDeleteYour Girl's Trip to Brandon sounds like such fun; that's still on my bucket list.
BTW, what program(s) do you use to create these cute scraps? The movie one is perfect!
Isn't it the most beautiful bloom!! Sam was so excited when he saw it open this morning. I have a special photo program that I use for my pictures. I can't even remember the name of it right now, but I will look it up and send to you.
DeleteOh I want to see that movie too! Glad you got to enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteThe movie was so good and I do hope that from the movie, they will come out with another series to let the show continue.
DeleteI want to see that movie too - I hope it comes out at home sooner than later. I like the taste of dragon fruit and glad it is growing for Sam. Shut you will have a great time in Branson.

ReplyDeleteThat song sprang into my head as I read the end of your post. We must Stand.
Love the Dragon Fruit pictures. What does the fruit taste like? I think I had some years and years ago in Uzbekistan. Can't remember much about the flavor.

Sue

Yes Sue...we have to all stand !!

ReplyDeletethank you...He is so excited about this plant...He keeps a close watch on it, kinda like tending to a baby.
DeleteWhat a treat to my eyes to see this when I came here! Gorgeous header and background! I have never ever seen a Dragon Fruit bloom! Did not even know they have blooms. It is gorgeous! And the fruit is really pretty as well. I would love to see the David play! Are there any tests or test results to report yet? I know you put updates on your sidebar, so just checking.
ReplyDeleteThis will be our first dragon fruit from this plant. Such a beautiful flower, We have an appointment with the Transplant doctor this coming Tuesday and then his next test is October 20th. Thank you for all your prayers.
DeleteWe are going to have "date night" next Saturday to go see it. My husband loves that series as well. Wishing you a beautiful day, smiles.

DeleteGlad you had such a good time with friends! David will be so good. We saw Jospeh at the Sight and Sound Theatre several years ago and really enjoyed it.
ReplyDeleteThe dragon fruit flower is so pretty.
I so enjoy seeing the shows at sight and sound. Sam has babied the dragon fruit and I am so happy that it is now getting ready to bare a fruit.
DeleteI'm happy for both you and Sam. I hope the rest of the weekend is fantastic too. 😊❤️
ReplyDeleteThank you so much...it is a beautiful weekend here.
DeleteThat is so special about Sam's plant! I'm so glad that it bloomed and will bear fruit.
ReplyDeleteGlad you had an enjoyable time out with your friends and that you have the Bronson trip to look forward to. I've been to one production by Sight and Sound, only it was in their Pennsylvania location. It was Jesus, which was the life of Christ. Such a moving experience! I'm sure the one of David will be just as moving.
Oh, that Dragon Fruit bloom is beautiful. MadSnapper said what I was thinking, that it looked a lot like the night blooming cereus plant here in Florida, but that is in the cactus family and there's no fruit. I don't know waht dragon fruit is, so I need to look it up. Oh, I am so happy you got to see the Downton Abbey movie. I would LOVE to see it. I may have to check that out and see where it is playing. I'd much rather see it in the theater on a big screen than on the TV. Sounds like you had a great time! You are blessed to have such good friends. I enjoyed your happy post today. Sometimes we just gotta getaway!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a perfect day. I've never been to Branson but I know others who have been and I always hear good things.
ReplyDeleteThat dragon fruit bloom is gorgeous.
Well done Sam. We are growing a dragon fruit from seeds. We just bought a fruit from the supermarket and took its seeds. All we have now is a bunch of cacti about 5 inches long.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, Shug; I am writing this in my best English accent. The dishes are set out in grand style (of sorts) BUT I am not wearing a gorgeous dress.
God bless.
That dragon fruit bloom is amazing. I'm so glad it brought a little joy to Sam's heart. You took wonderful photos of it, Shug. A fun girl's time with friends, and "David" sounds like a good production for you to see at the theatre in the days ahead.
ReplyDeleteI'm saying a prayer for Sam and his appt. on Tuesday, Shug, for all good news.
