This morning, I woke to the sound of rumbling thunder rolling across the sky. The kind that makes you want to curl up even deeper under the covers and just stay in bed. This is exactly what I did for another hour. Looks like we just may have the promise of a wet holiday weekend ahead.
It was still dark outside when I finally slipped out of bed and made my way to the front window. I could see that it has rained a good bit of the night and this is okay by me. We need the rain and the plants, trees and flowers are soaking it all in.
September will be arriving on Monday, and with this steady rain, I can't help but feel that fall is tiptoeing in early. Honestly, there is already a hint of change in the air that whispers cooler mornings are not far away. I would like to believe that this rain is nature's way of washing summer away and gently opening the door to all that September has to offer.
I do hope you all enjoy a wonderful Labor Day weekend... Take time to relax and dream about the good things of Fall.
Shug...
Wishing you a fabulous weekend, too, Shug. Blessings!

ReplyDeleteOh I love your photos of the morning rain. I think I would have stayed in bed too, just enjoying the sounds and smells.
ReplyDeleteI also love your thoughts about the rain being Nature's way of washing away Summer.
We sure need some rain to wash away the summer heat. Another heat wave arriving this afternoon and through the weekend. 102+++
Enjoy your Labor Day.

ReplyDeleteHurrah for the rain! And it also helps allergy sufferers. Love your shots of the rain drenched plants! Your new background and header are so cheerful, they remind me of pop art in a way! Ginny
ReplyDeleteI love how you capture the slow, cozy rhythm of a rainy morning. Your description makes it feel like I’m right there watching the rain and sensing the first hints of fall.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love waking up to a rainy morning, or going to sleep hearing the rain on the roof...we need rain so badly, I'll take it any time we can get it. They say maybe today...but I'm not holding my breath! It would be nice to have an early Fall, but I'm not holding my breath on that either. We just have to take whatever God sends us and be thankful. Love your photos. Enjoy your Labor Day weekend.
