Olives and a Hodgepodge of flavor

Greek Olives and a Hodgepodge of Flavor

Good day,

It is Wednesday and it is time for the Hodgepodge.

Joyce asks the questions.

We answer the questions.

1.  When someone finds out what you do or where you're from, what's a question they always ask?

People are absolutely amazed that we grow thousands and thousand of trees for a living.
Where are you from?   We've never heard of it that town...where is it?
OR.... if we are out of State they always ask....
ARE YOU FROM TEXAS? must be the drawl in our accent...

2. Did you participate in 'Greek Life' when you were in college, or have children who did? If so what was your experience like? Taking another tack...Have you ever been to Greece? If not, is that a destination on your bucket list?

I did not participate in the Greek Life and neither did my daughters or grandkids.
I have not been to Greece and honestly, it is no where near the top of my bucket list.  I would prefer Ireland, Scotland or simply a place like the mountains here in the USA.

3.  Do you like Greek food? If so what is your dish?

I love olives!!  only the green ones though!
Not really big on Greek food.
Olives...they count don't they?

4.  What incredibly common thing have you never done?

No tattoo's here!! I've also never had blue or pink hair, nor have I ever watched "Friends."

5. What is a telltale sign that you're upset?

Oh...this is an easy one!  I don't talk and our house, our car, our closet, etc.... suddenly becomes spotless.  I Clean!!

6. Insert your own random thought here.

I'm thinking how nice the rain is this morning.  It has been raining for a couple of hours and the temps are so nice outside.  I'm thinking how nice it is that I do not have to water my outside
(30 +) pot plants today.

  2. Your background perfectly matches your gorgeous header today! I have always wanted to visit, Scotland, Wales, or Ireland. No tattoos for me. And I must be the only woman alive who does not have pierced ears!

  5. I love your header today!
I would love Ireland and Scotland too, but it would be cool to see all the old buildings in Greece.
No tattoos, pink or blue hair, or Friends for me either. No to olives as well!

    1. Thank you Mari. I enjoy making my headers and changing them out. I agree, seeing the architectural part of Greece would be nice

  6. No tats for me, either, and I've only ever had blonde highlights in my hair. I quit having that done during the pandemic, so my hair is what it is naturally. I do like olives, but have no desire to visit Greece. Loved your answers, Shug!

  7. Well, my favorite food is Greek, and I would love to go back to Greece. So we are different there - but that is okay.
No tattoos in the immediate family.
No hair colors like pink or blue either.
    Enjoy the rain.

I like that you put all of these things together. You are probably wiser and less perplexed by not watching Friends. :) It marked a sea change in life outlook in my generation. The first time I watched it I was shocked by the choices they made. Now it seems normal if I catch a clip on You Tube. Programming did that to us.

  11. All the trees that you grow sound interesting.
I am not a fan of olives although it has been years since I tried them and my tastes have changed.
Ohh! It must be nice not to have to water all of those pot plants.

  12. You got your link up today-yay! What kind of trees do you grow? I don't think I knew that. I love all olives and my girls are the same. My father-in-law used to always get me a jar of olives for my Christmas stocking. Hope you have a nice week!

    1. Hi Joyce.. yes..yay..I was able to get it linked. We grow mostly pecan trees in containers. It takes 3 years from the time they are planted until they are ready to sell. Wholesale business so many of the trees that are sold across the US comes from our farm. Also fire fruit trees of all kinds as well as shade trees. no i’ve trees though.

  13. How inviting this header picture! I, too, adore olives and what you said about enjoying olive oil and bread at your birthday dinner had my mouth watering. No tattoos for me, ... and I've never seen Friends, either.

  14. I love the show, Friends. That Chandler cracks me up. Ireland would be nice. Hubby is Irish. We've never been. Wishing you guys a yummy rest of your week.

  15. Tree growing is definitely a niche business. I've never met an olive I didn't like.

  16. You got me at Olives !!! I love them and the more marinated the better. When I was a kid I would always put the pitted black olives on my fingers... I really like Greek food too. Baklava made by my Greek friend is to die for..rich and sweet but oh so good. Lemon soup is tasty too. I would love to see Greece and the ancient architecture.
Joyce's comment about getting a jar of olives in the Christmas stocking brought back memories of our Christmas stockings too.

  17. Oh you must watch friends, we enjoy those old episodes so much!

  18. Sorry I’m late. I was pretty much gone all day.
I’d love to see the route that Apostle Paul took in Greece and of course Patmos. So much church history outside of Israel. I’ve always enjoyed Mediterranean foods and love olives. They grow abundantly in my area and we have outstanding olive oil too.
I watched Friends a few times - wasn’t impressed. No tats for me and no hair color period, blue pink or purple. My DIL switches from blue hair to strawberry pink hair and then rainbow colors. It’s definitely not for me. still love her to pieces and bottomline, it’s just hair. My DIL is a Friends fan. Has all the episodes. Oh and the first thing I get asked when people hear I’m from Redding…”Do you go to Bethel church”. This particular church is a cult that is taking over our town. They specialize in raising the dead, grave soaking, and growing new limbs. A total embarrassment and their Bethel Music Studios are downtown. Ugh. Now I just say, Shasta.

  19. No tattoos or pink or blue hair here, either. I think I have seen an espisode or two of Friends way back in the past. At least something positive comes out of you getting angry. :) Your travel choices are more in line with mine. Your tree growing business sounds real interesting. I'm always happy when God does my watering. :)
