Backpacks and A Senior.

Y'all know how much I love family so I thought I would make today's post about the start of Mylee's Senior year.  Can you believe that seniors carry backpacks that look almost identical to the ones they toted off to kindergarten. The only difference is back then the backpack was half their size and was stuffed with crayons, storybooks and gummy bears.  Now it's probably holding car keys, water bottles and enough snacks to fuel them throughout the day.....Oh, and of course, their phone.

Mylee and her Best Friend Kennedy....Mylee's backpack is Strawberry shortcake.

This Happened:

Mylee Jo had her Year book Senior picture made this week.  How in the world did we get here so quickly?  Seems like just yesterday she was standing on my coffee table singing:

"Oh happy Day, happy day, when Jesus washed, He washed my sins away.  He taught me how to watch, fight and pray, Oh happy day, Oh happy day."

I may have teared up a little when seeing her picture. Okay, maybe more than a little.

This one is a bit blurry because it is actually a picture that Shanda took while the professional photographer was taking the picture...

It is so sweet that they have come just about full circle.  From learning to tie their shoes to learning to parallel park...Mylee has grown up before our eyes.

I'm looking forward to all that this year brings.  Basketball games, homecoming, prom, her school trip to Ireland, the awards and all the special memories a senior year holds.  What a season it's going to be.

  4. I’m happy for her. She has such a big future ahead for her. A school trip to Ireland sounds awesome and I’m thinking back to my senior trip - it was to Disneyland. lol.
May she enjoy every single minute of her senior year.

  7. You have such a beautiful Family dear Shug! I pray she has an amazing senior year! It's so sad that I've now seen bullet proof backpacks out there for kids. Can you believe that? And after what just happened in Minneapolis, my heart continues to hurt for all the kiddos having to worry about those things when all they want to do is go to school and learn. I don't want evil to win so I know it's important we continue to live life as normally as we can. And I continue to pray for real change in this country in some way that stops these awful tragedies from happening. 🙏🏻💗 May Mylee's year be blessed and safe.

  8. Yes, that quote from Dr. Seuss. Those are my sentiments exactly too.
You have the most gorgeous Granddaughter. Her Senior year will be awesome. I can't wait to follow along through your eyes as the year progresses.
There was no such thing as backpacks when I went to school (younger years) and especially all the cute character packs.
    Love your background and banner.
