Well Friends....We are Home

We are back....and oh, how I have missed you all.

               The Denver Airport Tram

Our trip to Colorado was just what we needed. The air was fresh and crisp, the views were absolutely breathtaking, the places we stayed at were so very nice, and the best part....Sam nor I had to drive a single mile.

Our sweet daughters took the wheel and Sam, Mylee Jo, and I kicked back in the back seats of the Suburban.......lots of laughter went on back there.  Most of the laughter was due to the antics from Mylee.  This girl kept us rolling.

The beauty we saw was nothing short of stunning. From the towering red rocks of the Garden of the Gods to the majestic views riding the Cog Train up to the top of Pikes Peak. Riding the Cog Railway to the top of the mountain was something we all enjoyed.  We did use a can of oxygen while we were on top of the mountain, but this did not stop us from enjoying the warm and most amazing cinnamon donuts from the shop at the top.

While we were in Breckenridge, the five of us rode a ski lift....a first for Sam and I.  There may have been a lot squealing involved, but not all of it came from me.  This was such a fun thing to do and if we had had the time, I would have ridden the lift up and down, over and over again....It was that fun!!

The food? Oh my.  Let's just say we did not go hungry.  We found some fantastic restaurants and made sure to sample a little bit of everything.  In Breckenridge, we also went down to the river.  I LOVED putting my feet in the COLD water as it rushed past the rocks.  I even crossed a big stream by walking across the rocks.

There is so much that I want to talk about and I have so many great pictures to show you.  I think I'll stop here for today and make this a two day post.  My post for tomorrow will include the Troll we visited, Playing some Pickle Ball, Our kiddos new home, The Birthday Cookie, Me losing our car keys, Our shopping adventures, Our trip to Royal Gorge, and lots of photos.

Stay tuned for part two.

Shug.....

  1. Well, I read about Sam. I hope they can calm down his immune system. Would you say? And I can't believe he has Covid - what does that mean for him and his treatment.
Oh, your trip looked like so much fun. Looks like your whole family went. I would love to put my feet in the river like that and just cool off and relax. Glad you had a good time.

  5. Shug, I'm so sorry about Sam having the dreaded virus. That's par for plane rides. My mom would always get sick when she flew anywhere. BUT, your trip to Colorado looked amazing! So many fun things and time with family. It sounds like the perfect little get-away. I can't wait to hear the rest of the story :)

  7. What a blast your family enjoyed! Gosh I wish the internet had scratch-and-sniff technology ... that mountain air sounds so appealing. So glad Sam was able to enjoy himself, at least until the fever heralded that awful virus. Praying for his speedy healing -- and that no-one else is sick. Hugs!

  8. Oh Shug, it sounds like such a wonderful trip - the views and the stream, the good food, and the cinnamon donuts. That's a sweet picture of all of you, and I love the one of the three girls with your daughter's big smile in front. I'm glad you got to see your family, and that Sam could make the trip also. Those flowers are so pretty. I've always loved purple and orange together, a good combination. Looking forward to hearing more about your trip, Shug. I missed You too!

  9. I'm so glad you both are home, safe & sound, Shug. I loved all your pictures (don't YOU look darling!!!!) especially the one of Sam sitting on the rocks. A penny for his thoughts during this most difficult time in his life. Lots to think about, for sure, in that beautiful spot. Rest up and I look forward to Part 2. Love, Andrea xoxo

  12. Oh gosh. Just wrote a note to you but I don't think it went through. Anyway, Shug, your header is gorgeous. I loved your post because I have been to many of those places and had similar experiences during my sojourns to the beautiful state of Colorado. It must have been wonderful to have your girls and your "forever love" together and have such a wonderful change of scene. That was great. Take care and I look forward to Chapter 2. Hugs. Susan

  13. So glad that you're all home safely and had such a marvelous time together, Shug. I'm afraid that my fear of heights would not have allowed me to venture onto a ski lift, but kudos to you for doing so. Poor Sam! As though he isn't going through enough, and now having Covid. Tell the man we think he's a real trooper, especially in going on this road trip with all of you. I'm so looking forward to the next installment about your adventures.
    Blessings!

So sorry that Sam has the virus but glad they had already started the IV and have got him on some new meds.
Praying for all of you and that Sam's bout will be short and healing complete.
    Love you

It sounds/looks like you had a wonderful trip, but I'm so sorry to read Sam has Covid. Good thing you thought to have him tested.
Praying for a speedy recovery for him and a hedge of protection around you to keep you from catching it.
