My Crepe Myrtles are blooming and as I look outside my window, I see that they are dressed in their finest lavender-purple blooms. They are all really showing off right now.
Although this photo looks like the blooms are pink, they are honestly a beautiful purple color. Clusters of wrinkled blooms cover each branch in waves, and when the wind is slightly blowing, I can actually smell their sweet fragrance. These trees seem to be announcing their arrival in a full-blown fanfare of color and grace this year.
Makes you think.....how in the world does something bloom this confidently after looking so bare just a few months ago? Amazing!!
The Crepe Myrtle doesn't bloom because it's trying to prove anything.....it blooms because God created it to.
A Crepe Myrtle blooms confidently because it trust the process built into its very roots. The roots, the rhythm of the seasons, the promise of return, the sun that warms and the rains that nourishes it.... this is the process!!! The blooms show up in full color, simply because the Creator whispered, "Now's your time." How very thankful I am!!
I feel like our lives are much the same....No need to rush the seasons...(like Hobby Lobby or other stores)
There is beauty in the seasons of our lives....each one held in God's hands, each one has a purpose.
I would encourage anyone who might be in a season of waiting and wondering, to let the purple Crepe Myrtle whisper to YOUR heart...."Your season is coming. You don't have to chase it, stay rooted in the ONE who sees the whole garden."

I absolutely adore Crepe Myrtles! Unfortunately, we live too far north to be able to have them in our gardens. Our son and daughter-in-law lived in SC at one time, and they had the most beautiful Crepe Myrtles in their back yard...such a beautiful red color.

Your words are wonderful about the rhythm of the seasons. I read Sam's update, and I do hope he is able to digest the food he eats. I feel so badly for him, and as always, I whisper prayers. I'm glad he was able to enjoy the kids while they visited.

Just the other day I was thinking about taking photos of all the different colors of the crepe Myrtle in bloom. They are everywhere - all blooming at once. The red ones are my favorite and from what I learned at a nursery, they are harder to grow. We don’t see that many. Apparently they are temperamental! 🤔Anyway I decided against it. Too much work driving around, hopping out of the car just to take a photo. Too hot for that!
ReplyDeleteThis is a glorious post!! Your beautiful Crepe Myrtle and background is so stunning! The ones here have not bloomed yet. Only a few very scraggly ones. And as usual, you have found a wonderful lesson in god's handiwork. I hope Sam's scope is soon!! Perhaps they will find something that they can fix at the same time.
ReplyDeleteAmen! My area is iffy for crepe myrtle. Half the time a winter freeze kills them back to the ground, and the next year's blooms are scant.

ReplyDeleteNice! I'm afraid our land isn't suited for flowers like that. Both climate and because the animals eat most things if they aren't in the greenhouse. Kaitlin and I remember planting a bleeding heart years ago and we carefully protected it with chicken wire. Unfortunately It was completely gone the next day when we went up. Even the slowest members of the club learn from experiences like that. :)

Purple is less common than pink - they are gorgeous! I agree not to rush - but I don't like summer! TOO HOT FOR ME.
