What a night!!! The storms rolled in with no intention of being quiet about their arrival. We were startled awake not once, but twice by phone alerts warning us to take cover.
Let me say that I am thankful for the warnings, but a call during the middle of the night can sure get your heart racing. Thankfully, all is good this morning...and just one of my flower pots took a tumble in all of the chaos. We have had at least 4 inches of rain these past few days.
I think my petunias are saying "We've had enough rain."
This week, I have a very important role of Dog Duty for our sweet TAZ...our oldest granddog. His mama, Trista (our oldest daughter) is away at college for the week. She has two required (in-person) classes this week, as she is working toward her Master's Degree. We are so proud of her determination, even if it means a little more tail wagging responsibilities on our end. Of course, we never mind taking care of our sweet Taz.
Tomorrow, Sam and I will be headed to the Dallas area for a day of doctor appointments at Southwestern Medical. We would both be so grateful for your prayers as we travel and navigate through the doctor's visits. More severe weather is expected in the Dallas area tomorrow and we are sure hoping to miss all of it.
After the storms, it is always clean up day for the pool... Maybe Mylee Jo will come help! lol.
Our skies are still looking heavy, but hopefully all of these storms will be out of our area soon. Whatever your skies bring for your area today, I wish for you a truly great day.
Shug....
Don't you just dread those phone calls at night? ugh. Lots of rain going on in your area! I hope you have a safe drive today, Shug, and praying for Sam and you both dealing with all the appts. you have. So good of you to watch TAZ. I can't think of a better dog sitter. I love your blue pot with all the flowers. Take care, dear Shug, and know you are in my thoughts. : )

Taz looks like a loveable dog! I’m sure you will enjoy him. Continued prayers for tomorrow’s doctor appointments.
ReplyDeleteLast night I kept getting alerts from Watch Duty. A couple of fires but it looks like they’ve got a handle on them.
Take care and God Bless you and your household.
Good gracious - four inches of rain is such a lot! I hope the weather improves for you now, especially as you're having to travel and negotiate medical appointments, which I hope will prove reassuring.
ReplyDeleteWe are getting some much needed rain here in Montreal today. After the couple of days of the heat, humidity and smoke from the wildfires, it feels good to be able to safely open my windows and get some fresh air. Taz is a precious, beautiful dog! Your photos are so beautiful and refreshing. Sounds like you did get quite a bit of rain.
ReplyDeleteI do believe your area has gotten more rain than mine....and that's saying something!
ReplyDeleteTaz looks like anyone could hug him. :-)
ReplyDeletePraying for you!!
xx oo

We were supposed to get a storm yesterday, but it turned into just a sprinkle. Today they predict more in the afternoon. We shall see!
ReplyDeleteTaz looks like a sweetie!
Praying for you both tomorrow.
thecontemplativecat here We had rain and thunder last week, and it was amazing. We don't hear that sound often in summer. the watercolors are beautiful.
ReplyDeletePraying for safe travel and a good appointment for Sam. We sure could use your rain up here! Looks like Taz will be good company for you!
ReplyDeleteHi Shug. You know, I read where the south was getting pelted with a LOT of rain. Ohhh, the poor little petunias. They will spring right back, hopefully, when they dry out a little. Happy Late Birthday to your sweet girl. Sounds like it was a great celebration. You can bet you and Sam will be in my prayers starting NOW. Be careful driving. Shug, thank you so much for your visits to Writing Straight from the Heart and for your comments , too. They mean a lot to me. Hugs, my friend. Susan
ReplyDeleteWow, of course you and your sweet hubby will be in my prayers. Prayers for safety, ability to circumvent the myriad of appointments and times with the doctors. I pray you will get the answers you need. Prayers that the storms will not harm you and your rides will be safe.

We have had dark skies all weekend and still remain day with a spattering or rain here and there. Thankfully nothing torrential. Good luck with all the medical appointment..
ReplyDeletewe too had 4 inches in 3 days and we have more coming on wed,Thurs, friday which may or may not effect our home.. I asked the Lord now for a blessed trip to the doctors and for protection for both of you and to guide the doctors in what is best for Sam.. Amen
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness - I would have heart palpitations hearing warnings like that in the night! So glad all was okay. Taz is so cute and I my brother has a Siberian Husky with the same name. :) Prayers sent for all to go well and safe travels and weather. 🙏🏻💗
ReplyDeleteOur weekend was full of storms and tornado watches, too. So did you actually get out of bed to take cover? Congrats to Trista! What will she be getting her degree in? Our Anne Marie has just finished her first year of college. I just love this teal flowerpot! Of course, I will specifically pray for the appointments, and for safe travel there and back. PLEASE let me know. Of course it may take time to get test results.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I can't imagine getting weather warnings. In CA we don't get warnings for Earthquakes. Haven't felt one for quite a while. How nice that you can take care of your granddog. How exciting for Trista. We have loved animals all our lives and had so many pets, however now it's not a possibility. We had Molly Girl for 15 wonderful years and she was our last pet. Praying for your trip to the doctors and for travel safety.
ReplyDeleteI hate middle of the night calls. I am glad it wasn't too bad. Congrats to Trista. What kind of dog was that - it looked like a sheep to me.
ReplyDeleteI will be praying for you both as you journey to the doctors and treatment tomorrow.
Do tell us about it when you get back.
I haven't heard how many inches of rainfall we've had (endured) lately, but it's TOO much! You're so right about those middle of the night interruptions. Must have been the same storm front, cause our weather radio went off at 3-something, scaring Macie Ann and I to pieces. Fortunately, our first year here in Alabama, I took our weatherman's advice and bought two motorcycle helmets 'just in case.'
ReplyDeleteLifting bold prayers for the two of you tomorrow! He's got this!
Prayers and love are going with you tomorrow, my friend!
ReplyDeleteYes, prayers and love. ❤️
ReplyDeleteWe had a big storm here yesterday. I was driving home and it turned into a torrential downpour. I had to pull off because I couldn't see where I was going.
ReplyDeletePraise the Lord you're all well after the storms. Praying for your good health and travels. God bless always.
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you and Sam today..(Tuesday)...for a good day of medical appointments and also for safety as you travel as you mentioned that there are strong storms expected again today. We've had SO much rain here of late, but not really any bad storms...just a regular summer thunderstorm. Sending hugs.
ReplyDeletePraying for you and Sam as you travel, and for great news with the doctors. May God bless you and yours, Shug, and good ol' Taz!
