Celebrating the Birthday Girl

Good morning dear blogging friends.

I sure missed having the opportunity to write a post yesterday, but my Friday began very hot....and by hot, I mean hairdryer hot. It was Hair Day for me, which is a day that I like to consider as a Holiday (for me!)  My hair girl (Melody) gives the very best shampoo massage and to me, it's like a spa day.

Then it was time to shift gears. We had a big birthday to celebrate.  Our youngest daughter (Shanda) turned 48!  Not sure how this happened so fast, because I'm pretty positive that I just turned 48 myself, for the 23rd time.

           Potpourri Restaurant and shop

After my hair appointment, we set off to have a girls day. We shopped, we laughed, and we tried on things that we had no business trying on. Lunch was at the Potpourri House. This place is like southern charm served with a side of the best strawberry salad you've ever eaten.

               The Italian Restaurant!!

By evening, the whole crew gathered for dinner at the most charming little Italian restaurant, complete with twinkly lights. This is a farm to market kind of restaurant, where they grow there own veggies and let me tell you, the food was amazing.  And then...the BEST chocolate birthday cake (ever) made it's entrance and let me just say....it did not last long.  I'm not naming any names, but a few of them may have had a second piece of this delicious cake.

Shanda and the BEST Chocolate Cake

Sam and his girls.......

The family.... (part of us)

Friday was one of those days that fills your heart and your camera roll. Celebrating Shanda...this beautiful, strong, and joyful woman that we all adore....was the best part.

Happy Birthday, sweet Shan....you shine brighter every year!

Oh....and as a bonus, while we were shopping, I ran into a blogging friend from years ago.  Vicki no longer blogs, but she is a fabulous artist and I keep up with her on facebook.

Happy Saturday y'all....

  1. Happy Birthday to Shanda! I'm not sure how our kids get older, goes so fast!
Looks like you had a great day, but I did miss you yesterday.
PS - I took your advice and picked up a few flags to add to our planter out front. It looks so cute!

  2. I missed you yesterday but it sounds like a wonderful day with your girls. My middle son is 44 and he’s got a beard and gray hair! He looks like an old gold miner! All he needs is a mule! But through all his gray and wrinkles, I can still see that little boy inside. Mothers have that special gift!
That cake would have been hard for me to pass up! Seconds please!

Shug in that heat my hair would probably curl! My son will be 50 in August. That can't be possible either. That cake looked delish!

  5. Happy Birthday blessings to your Shanda! Wow, that chocolate cake looks positively sinful (like my momma used to say). I love those ceiling tiles in that restaurant y'all chose!
It's been years since someone else washed my hair and massaged my scalp; doing it myself doesn't feel nearly as good.
