Well, I'm late posting again! But....it's not because I was lunging around sipping sweet tea (although that does sound very good.) No, this morning started bright and early with a doctor's appointment....just a routine check-up and I am happy to report that everything looked GREAT!. Excellent really!! I am feeling very grateful..
Since I was already out, I made a little detour to Hobby Lobby. The mission?? Silk flowers for the cemetery to honor my mom and dad, my brother, nephew and my mother-in-law. I always try to pick something beautiful for each of them, and woo hoo.....the flowers were 40% off. This is a little blessing since I had not even checked the sales ad to see if they were on sale.
As I walked the aisles, I noticed something magical happening....."Fall is already in the air at Hobby Lobby!" Oh my goodness....pumpkins galore, y'all. Everywhere I turned there were signs of crispy leaves and spice scented candles. NEVER MIND that it is 90 degrees outside and the 100 degree temps haven't even arrived yet. I love FALL, but this was a big turn off for me...I mean, I haven't even been in the pool yet this year.
I'm dreaming of lemonade, flip flops, and beach towels..(the beach would be super nice too) and instead I was face to face with large pumpkins.
Later, I found myself back at the furniture store. Sam went with me Saturday morning and I made a decision: a beautiful love seat and two chairs. Well....here is the thing about decisions for me....I sometimes make them too quickly. One chair just did not feel right. Not as in being comfortable, but the chair itself just didn't have the appeal that I was looking for. It was super comfortable, but it wasn't me.
I realized it was the kind of chair you like in the store and the store only. So, today.....I traded it for a beautiful cabinet piece. Much better! My living area and my peace of mind are both thankful.
I then came home, cleaned house like a woman on a mission (because I was on one) and now I have a pot of pinto beans bubbling, stewed potatoes simmering and a pan of kale sautéing on the stove.
Life can be funny....especially if you are hanging out with me. Occasional second guessing is not new for me. I am so thankful to have a cozy home, a good doctor's report and comfort food that will be ready for dinner. That right there is all good stuff!!
Today's reminder for me: Even on the busiest days, there's a quiet victory in simply getting things done and being able to end the day with a good warm meal and a very grateful heart.
Shug...
I really dislike the way stores push the seasons. I really don't want to think about Fall either. It's only 59 degrees here today, I need to enjoy summer first!
ReplyDeleteI laughed at your comment about life being funny, especially if you are hanging out with you!
Glad you got your furniture store situation figured out!
Okay, Fall is my favorite time of year ... but before Memorial Day?! As my son would say, that's a Hard No.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the good doctor's report. Isn't that one of life's Joys? That and, as you say, quiet victories. As ever, thanks for reminding us what really counts.
Oh my, I knew they started putting Fall things out in July, but I've never seen that in May. But that would be Ok with me, cause I'm not a summer gal, and I LOVE Fall. So glad you purchased something that was just right for you. I would love to see your cabinet for the living room sometime. I absolutely love Hobby Lobby, and they have such fun and whimsical items for each season. I'm so glad your check-up turned out well, Shug. That is something to be thankful for, indeed. And I hope you found some silk flowers for the cemetery. So good of you to visit all your loved ones there. And they were 40% off, how special that was to come at the right time. ; )
ReplyDeleteHave a terrific week, Shug.

Autumn is my favorite time of year, but there are a lot of hot days between now and then!
ReplyDeleteI have a love/hate relationship with Hobby Lobby and That’s crazy about the pumpkin stuff. Happy you had a good doctors report.
ReplyDeleteI understand that crafters need to have their supplies in hand before a given season, but five months seems like overkill.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness! I love fall, but not in the Spring! Life is flying by too fast as it is!
ReplyDeletethecontemplativecat here. Nooo, not Fall already!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy about your doctor's visit! And now I really want to go to Hobby Lobby! Fall decor is really my thing, though I have so many keepers full of fall things already. Your teal color flowerpots are gorgeous. Show us your new furniture!
ReplyDeleteIt's the small things that make for a happy, grateful life.
ReplyDeleteI was in Hobby Lobby recently and was surprised at all the fall stuff they had out already. I loved the cinnamon scent coming from the one aisle but it's a bit crazy how early this stuff is out. It's still spring and they're pushing pumpkins already.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy your positivity. I use my blog to celebrate the good things that happened to me.
ReplyDeleteGreat you had a good dr's visit. We have to go next month for hubby's check up. He's been managing prostate cancer since 2013. Every day brings some delights.
Yeah for a good Dr appointment! I am not ready for pumpkins either. Hope you got your flowers, I bought some last Winter and will get them to the cemetery this week after the rain:)
ReplyDeleteHello, my lovely friend! Yay for the good doctor visit! That is one of life's best feelings, walking out of those doors, getting in your car and heading home with good news!! Now, you know me. You know I am an autumn soul. I thrive in the fall. But, nope. Nope. Nope. No fall decor in mid-May. Hugs for a cozy afternoon!
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like fall, it is way too early to have pumpkins out! Good on your for passing your check up, you have many good years ahead of you!
ReplyDeleteyou remind me of Hobby Lobby.... long time we didn't visit the store....
ReplyDeleteWe will visit the store by next week....
Have a wonderful day.
What a coincidence - I have my annual check up today! Hoping for good results like you had, Shug. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteOkay I am glad about your checkup. I think Hobby Lobby is way too early for pumpkins.
ReplyDeleteIt's not even Memorial Day. Your plain meal of good feeling food and home sounds so good to me. I appreciate things like you do. A little confused about the furniture, but I know it will be beautiful.
I love cooking beans at home. So good! Hobby Lobby to me, runs the best sales. Every other week, allllll yarn is 30% off. All of it. None of this nonsense of just this yarn or just that. Or buy two and get one sillyness. Nopers. Hobby Lobby doesn't mess around. Every other week it's the same. 30% off yarn.
ReplyDeleteI'm told from a friend who does woodworking that they run every other week sales on that too. Very, very cool.
I saw a lady's YouTube video portion where she was also in Hobby Lobby, and she was showing all of the pumpkins and other fall decor. I find that so distasteful.
ReplyDeleteGlad that you were able to get the furniture pieces that you really wanted and felt good about.
Your dinner sounds delicious! xx
