Waking up this Saturday to the gentle patter of rain on the windows.....AGAIN! Every so often, the quiet rain is broken by a low, rolling thunder that stretches across the sky.
It seems like the clouds have truly settled in for a long visit. We've had so much rain lately, and the forecast says there's more on the way all weekend. I honestly think the ducks are starting to look for umbrellas.
This week has been International Week at the school where Shanda teaches.
and last evening the school held a big International Dinner.
Students from other Countries prepare and cook foods that represent their country.
Trista, Shanda and Mylee ventured out (In the pouring rain) to attend this event and to taste all of the different cuisines.
During the International meal, many of the students wore traditional clothing that represented their home countries.
The girls did not send me any pictures of the food, but they all expressed how interesting it was to not only see, but to taste these different types of foods.
I planted my "Peggy Martin" climbing roses last year...... I took this picture this morning of the very FIRST blooms!! So excited.
And the Rain keeps falling!!
Wishing you all a beautiful weekend..
Have fun and stay safe!
Shug.
LOVE the climbing roses!
ReplyDeleteAnd the cute duck. 🤗
we have been praying for rain for about 5 years, and wonder of wonder, as bad as Milton was, in our yard we only got 2 inches and other parts of the city flooded. I love the ART of rain on your flagstones.. that would be a fun thing to do, the international food and fun
ReplyDeleteSo glad to see you up and posting this Saturday morning. Oh the lovely clmbing rose ~what joy it will bring as more blooms pop out!! Rain, Rain, we've had our share too, but today is beautiful and sunny. So glad as we have a Baby Shower this afternoon to welcome little Peter (5th great grandson) coming the middle of May!! Stay warm and continue to get lots of rest. Sending hugs and prayers.
ReplyDeleteShug, the way you write is so musical. I love the flow and the uplifting things you have to say.
ReplyDeleteRain is a blessing but floods aren't so good. Hope it will just be a calming thing for you. My mother in law always had those tiny roses climbing on her back fence. She called them Cecil Breuner roses not sure of the spelling. They had such a sweet fragrance and she would always make little bouquets to give away where ever she went. Thanks for bringing that memory back to me.

We have had so much rain here too, the Grand River is flooding big time!
ReplyDeleteInternational week at school looks like so much fun!
Please send the rain here to Florida as its hotter than hades and dry here. Wishing you a beautiful day my friend.
ReplyDeleteYour roses are a beautiful color. International Day is such an awesome idea! I have never heard of any school doing it, but I think they all should! It can make the kids all more appreciative of different cultures. I hope you are resting today! Maybe a good excuse not to cook!

ReplyDeleteI like seeing International Week. Always important to learn about others and their culture. Flooding rains here and hopefully over tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteThat international event at the school looked like so much fun, Shug! Glad you are feeling better enough to post your blog, too. The rain starts here for us in GA tomorrow afternoon. Stay dry and be blessed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a super initiative at Shanda's school, culminating in that dinner. I love young people's imagination and creativity! If there was something like this near, I'd be sure and buy a ticket.
ReplyDeleteI hope you continue to feel better and don't push yourself ... or slip on a shiny flagstone!
That international day sounds fun. It would be nice to try foods from other countries.
ReplyDeleteWe had rain this morning. It stopped for a while then started back up this afternoon. The next week is supposed to be cold again.
We have been having a lot of rain here as well. It's helping us brace for the snow coming our way on Monday. 😂. How lovely that your girls attended the international dinner. I enjoy trying foods from other cultures.
ReplyDeleteHello, lovely friend! Rain here today, too! I loved reading about the International Dinner. How exciting! I hope you have a cozy Sunday afternoon!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow evening, rain is expected to return.
ReplyDeleteWhen I lived in San Francisco during my childhood, every day felt like an international celebration due to the diverse neighborhood I was part of, exposing me to a rich array of cuisines and cultures. My sons also experienced similar cultural diversity during their school years. However, in our current rural setting, international days and related events are organized to celebrate cultural diversity, as there is not as large of an international community compared to other areas in California.
I hope you are resting like you should be...
That looks like a wonderful and unique school she goes too. You learn a lot that way.
ReplyDeleteSounds like fun.
Are you sending all that rain here? It is supposed to rain Sunday and Monday here.
