Prayers During the Day

LOL...NO "Try it Thursday" post today. I haven't had time to try anything New.

Prayers During the day:

I don't always pray with folded hands or with my head bowed. No, Most days, my prayers are whispered between stirring what I have cooking on the stove or folding a pile of towels.  I love how prayers seem to show up like old friends and how without notice, I find myself simply speaking to the Lord.

Yesterday, Mylee phoned me and wanted to know if I could take her to school. Reason why? She had left her car keys on the bus the evening before. Her Team traveled to College Station for a soft ball game, but she rode back home with her dad..  Her keys...? on the bus!  My thoughts were, "will someone find them? will it take days before she is able to locate them?"

I immediately stopped and said a prayer. Praying that her coach or a friend would notice her keys and get them for her. Yes....a sweet friend got them. It's moments like this..... the simple things, that God loves when we come to Him in prayer.

Sometimes my prayers are more like a sigh that quietly says: "Lord, help me."

Thank goodness, our prayers do not have to be perfect...they just simply need to be about being present with the one who loves us the most.

When I am thinking of my loved ones during the day, I sometimes pray one line prayers.

"Watch over them, Lord."

"Bless my babies today."

"Put peace in their hearts and angels by their sides."

During the day, my prayers may be:

"Give me rest, and take what I can't carry."

"Thank you for this little joy."

"Walk with me today, Lord."

My kiddos get tickled at me when we pull into the mall parking lot and I find a front row parking spot. I always thank the Lord for His favor! I also thank Him when I don't get that front row spot. Even my girls, now say "Thank you Lord for this parking spot." I smile and appreciate their understanding that small things are blessings.

In the end, it's not about saying the perfect words, it's about turning my heart toward God, the one who already knows what I need. These little prayers? They are like sacred threads that are weaving my life together during the ordinary moments of my day. They remind me that I am never walking alone. God is listening ALWAYS!

Don't forget to pray those simple, small prayers throughout the day.

Enjoy this Beautiful day!

Shug.....💛

  1. OH, this was so good, and so true. Yes, this is how I pray throughout the day too...whatever the Lord brings to my mind often becomes an opportunity for prayer...for others, for the world in general, for myself or hubby, or wherever we are whatever we are doing, I see reasons to pray.Yes, you are definitely right on about this topic!! Amen!!

  2. I find that I do exactly what you do when it comes to praying, Shug. When I think about a loved one or a situation throughout my day, I stop, drop and pray for that person or the place in which I find myself. And I'm always thanking God for His blessings, large and small. Blessings for a great day!

  4. Oh Shug, I can't tell you how many small prayers are whispered throughout the day. I love everything you said here, and "getting the parking spot right in front of the shop" really spoke to me, cause I feel the same way. And now, we pass these little, yet BIG, things on to our children. Now, every time Nel gets into her car and starts to drive, she makes the sign of the Cross. What a wonderful post of faith, Shug, and I'm glad that Mylee's keys were returned safely to her. Your orange flowers on the side bars are so pretty and Springy.

Last night most of my prayers were for peace to various friends and family.
Like you said sometimes my prayers are like taking a breath and I try to be thankful for the yes, no and its still to come.
Thank you for this uplifting post today.

  6. Those kind of prayers are the best, not a planned prayer but a relationship prayer!
I love that Mylee called you for a ride. It tells a lot about your relationship.
I need to start thanking God for parking places!
PS - I love your header!

  7. I really think you are so right about prayer. Like Jesus said about the Pharisees...they just said emotionless words over and over for show. But God wants a relationship with us.

  8. First of all let me say how I LOVE your blog. The pretty red and orange background of flowers looks so perfect for spring, and Easter. How did you do that? Way back there were sites where you could select a background and I would often change mine up, then they quit being supported, I think. Your method of prayer I think works it's way into our lives. More personal it seems to me, then structured time and posture.

  9. I love the simplicity and sincerity of your reflection on prayer. It’s a beautiful reminder that prayer doesn’t have to follow any specific form or tradition—it’s about the connection, the quiet conversations we have with the Lord throughout our day. And how wonderful that Mylee’s keys were found! It’s those small moments where we see the power of prayer at work, even in the most unexpected places. Your post reminds us all that it’s not the perfection of the prayer, but the openness and trust we bring to it. Wishing you many more moments of peace and grace, in both the busy and quiet times.

  10. I could not love this more my Friend. I try to carve time every morning for devotional and prayers in the quiet and peace. But I talk to Jesus all day long. I'm sure He gets sick of hearing from me! Lol But I do the exact same thing - something happens...I pray, doing laundry and something pops in my head...I pray, looking for my iphone for the 10,000th time...I pray. He is in all things in my heart and mind always so it just seems logical that we chat often. 😉 PS: love this blog wallpaper!! So pretty

  12. No one could say it better, Shug. You have captures just what prayer is, and how it's as easy as breathing...and doesn't have to be perfect. A ongoing conversation with our Lord about everything. Don't you just love to see the answers in BIG things and those special LITTLE things. Thank you for sharing and reminding me just how precious prayer is and how grateful that God has given us that passage way to heaven when He bends low to hear our every word. Loving you!

  13. So glad I'm not the only one who thanks God when a prime parking spot appears! Little things, yes!
Unlike a certain evangelical leader, I don't believe we need to set aside a certain place and time to come to the Lord. He's my best friend!

  14. I always thank the Lord for giving me a close parking place. I thank him and pray for my friends and kids daily. Even when things go bad - there are things to be grateful for.

  15. "HEEEEEELP !!!" is often the best prayer. Also, "Thank you!"

    God bless.

  16. This is exactly how my prayers happen. Lately I've been thanking Him a lot because there have been several things I've done that should have turned out badly but didn't because He saved me. I just have to look up and say "thank you for having my back and watching out for me once again"

  17. Shug, I love this reminder of prayer and I love the new look of your blog :)

But seriously, this is so true. I think we get caught up in thinking we have to approach God a certain way, certain time, etc. But really...it's having a conversation with our heavenly father. I always think of my own children and how we converse and I try to remember that the Lord loves us just like that (but even more). I think of scripture that says "pray always" and I think it means exactly what you described in this post. Be in constant conversation with the one who is always by our side. I hope you and Sam are doing well today.

  18. I'm sorry that I missed coming by yesterday. Not sure how that happened.

Thank you for this beautiful post on prayer. You and I are alike in the respect that we talk with our Father all throughout the day with words of thanksgiving or asking Him to restore joy or peace or whatever the need happens to be. I loved this post!
