Hello there Sunday Dreamers. I hope today finds you with a peaceful heart so that you can soak in all of the beauty around you!
Flowers have always been one of my greatest joys in life. There is just something about the simple beauty of a flower that speaks straight to the heart. A good while back, I even had the sweet opportunity to have my own flower shop. This was a little dream come true for me. I spent many hours surrounded by fresh blooms, as I would design arrangements for my customers. I enjoyed being a small part of peoples special moments.
Although it has been a long time since I've made a prom bouquet, this weekend gave me a chance to dust off those old skills. My sweet Mylee had her prom and instead of ordering a bouquet from a local florist, I decided to make it myself. Had it been purchased from the local florist, it would have cost right near a $100.00, but after gathering the supplies, I put it all together for around $45.00. Not a bad savings if you ask me!
There is something very special about creating something with your own hands, especially when it is for someone you love.
Wishing you all a day full of beauty and new blooms right where you are. Happy Sunday!
Shug......🌹🌸🌼
Shug, you did a wonderful job on arranging a Prom bouquet for Mylee. Isn't that something that you had your own flower shop at one time. I've always wanted a quaint little home shop. Your saved half the money just by doing this yourself, and it goes nicely with her blue dress. Such a pretty dress, by the way. I'm glad the creativity came right back to you. We get rusty with our talents sometimes, but they always surface when needed. I hope she had a fabulous Prom night, Shug.

A gorgeous bouquet for a gorgeous girl!!! Great job. I have never heard of a prom bouquet before. Usually the guy gives the gal a wrist corsage..I know I am dating myself by my lack of knowledge... (:0)
ReplyDeleteHow wonderful that you had a flower shop. That must have been so wonderful to be surrounded by beautiful blossoms all the time.
Enjoy your Sunday. We're off to church in a few minutes.

Whoa!! Those flowers are gorgeous. I'm sure she loved them and you certainly did save some real money... You are very talented.
ReplyDeleteSuch beauty. The lovely young lady and her beautiful bouquet. How great you had a flower shop... I can just picture you there among the blooms. Have a great Sunday. My dearest is having a good day...off to church in a few minutes. Hugs.
ReplyDeletethank you Wanda. Mylee is a very sweet young lady. I did have a flower shop and sold it when I needed to take care of family. I sure enjoyed the work though.
DeleteI have no talent with flower arranging, and have tried so many times!! The bouquet is so perfect. And Mylee is so beautiful, the dress is gorgeous!!!
ReplyDeleteThank you much Ginny....arranging flowers is really so simple once you figure out the technique of placing the flowers..
DeleteI had no idea that you were once a professional florist, Shug. My, what a gorgeous bouquet you created for that beautiful Mylee! I'm sure she was thrilled with it. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteYes...I took floral design classes for a long time and enjoyed every minute of it...Thanks for complimenting the bouquet...Mylee really enjoyed it.
DeleteOh, that is so beautiful! and your granddaughter is lovely in her magnificent royal blue dress! My favorite color! I can imagine she was the "belle of the ball"! You are very talented to be able to create that sweet bouquet! I know Mylee appreciated your wonderful gift. Thank you for sharing this with us. What a lovely time.
ReplyDeleteMylee was so appreciative of the bouquet. I really liked her dress this year...the royal blue was a very good color for her dark skin.
DeleteHey, I didn't know you owned a flower shop, but I am not surprised.
ReplyDeleteThat bouquet is so beautiful - flowers make everything seem so much better.
Mylee is a beautiful girl and she had on a gorgeous dress.
I am sure she had a good time.
I did and I loved having the shop. Not only did I enjoy the flowers, but I enjoyed the plants as well. Thank you much Sandra....Mylee enjoyed her prom and she said it was much better with friends than with a boring boyfriend like last year...lol
DeleteGood work!
ReplyDeleteWhen did bouquets become a thing for Prom? When I was in high school the girls got a corsage (usually for the wrist). The boys got boutonnieres.
Mylee has attended a private school since through High School. Maybe it's a thing for this school, but for the events, the girls aways have a bouquet. She went with friends this year which is the reason I made her bouquet. No boyfriend for this girl this year....I think she might be a little picky and that is okay.
DeleteWhat a stunning young lady! Your creativity sure complements Mylee's dress and I'm sure she felt the love vibrating through each stem. I hope her Prom evening was everything she hoped for ... and more!
ReplyDeleteShe had a wonderful time at prom. They ate at a fancy restaurant and then made their way to the prom...Friends is who she went with...No boyfriends right now..lol
DeleteSuch a lovely bouquet you created.
ReplyDeleteAll the best Jan

ReplyDeleteThe bouquet you made is stunning. How special to be able to create something so pretty for your granddaughter.
It really was a dream job. I loved it so much and it was always a joy going to work each day...I just had so much going on with family...my mom and dad were both sick at the same time and other things....I sold the shop. The good thing is, I can still enjoy making flower arrangements at home.
DeleteWhat a pretty bouquet!! I love her pretty blue dress too, I bet she had fun!
ReplyDeleteShe had a great time...she said being single and going with good friends was much better than having a boring date last year...LOL
