There is a word for when you see things!! No...not the word CRAZY...lol! I see things ALL THE TIME.... like a bunny rabbit in my tile floor or old men's faces in tree trunks.
I can see faces in all kinds of things...like in this river. I took this photo a couple of summers ago in Colorado. Please tell me you all see it too. I think I posted this photo way back then. FYI...I also see a piano key board.
I see other things too......
The term for this is Pareidolia! It's a tongue twister to pronounce, but it just simply means that our brains find familiar things in unfamiliar places.
In reading about this, I found out that pareidolia isn't a glitch in our heads, it is actually a sign that our imagination is alive and well. As in...when we recognize shapes in clouds or faces, we're practicing creativity.
Two people can look at the same thing and see something completely different. Some may see Nothing, while others (like me) see faces, animals and other objects.
Laughing Shoes.
Two eyes and a big round nose
A wooden post, that appears to be gagging
I honestly think it's fun to be able to see these kind of things...Keeps me laughing for sure!!
Anyone else see things in unusual places??
"Happy Wednesday! I think I just saw a face in my pancake! I didn't give it time to talk before flipping it over." LOL
Shug.
I saw everything you saw - I don't know if it is because you said it or I saw it. I did see the piano keys very clearly. I love looking at things like that and trying to find things.
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of the word pareidolia!
I am praying for you and your procedure tomorrow!
Love, sandie
Me too! I'm always pointing things out in the clouds and I see things in the pattern on our floor in the bathroom. My husband often can't see it, I never knew there was a name for it. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm praying for you too.
Thank you for diagnosing my condition, Shug! Seriously! I had no idea that there was an actual name for it, but I see familiar things in unfamiliar places all the time! And, yes, I definitely saw the piano keyboard in the picture you took in Colorado! It's the very first thing I saw when I looked at the picture! Who knew? I guess my imagine is live and well! xx
ReplyDeleteI hadn't seen some of those faces until you pointed them out, but then it was obvious.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, Shug, I'm so glad you told me that name, cause I've always seen images in the clouds and the skies, and even the wooden planks in my mountain home. I think it's a gift we have. Yes, I saw that little face in your bathroom tile right away. And I see the face in the river and the piano keyboards! I sometimes spill my coffee, and it forms in the shape of a heart haha. The gagging wooden post is funny. Oh, I learned something today on your precious blog. Thank you, Shug!

I see things in objects, skies, clouds etc. Even on my bathroom towels. Just as plain as day. I’m glad there’s a name and that I’m not schizophrenic!
ReplyDeleteI saw the piano keyboard before I even read your post and after read saw the face, my favorite is the laughing shoes. they are hysterical. I have lion face in the tile in my bathroom and yes, I see things a lot and since I started painting in procreate I see even more things. I just sent the word Pareidolia to my email, so I can save it and not be able to find it. ha ha.... I did notice it at first glance looks like the word paranoia and I have that for sure
ReplyDeleteOh YES !!! I am forever seeing things , faces and animals in everyday things.
ReplyDeletePeople often look at me like I'm nuts but that's ok with me. I am easily entertained.
I'll have to do a blog post about some of the things I see too.
I did see the face in the river and the piano keyboard. Love the laughing slippers.
Happy SMILE Day..
Sue
P.S. Shug... Praying for you and the procedure tomorrow... (((hugs)))

Thank you for the laughs. :)
DeleteOk! So this is a thing???? Thank you! I still remember a swirl of paint in our house when I was young that always looked like a profile of a little face! This was so interesting. Have a lovely afternoon, my friend.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, it seems many of us have the same decease!! HaHa. I see things everywhere. Glad to know I'm not crazy but rather quite alive and blooming. I saw the tiger in the river and the piano keys were a little more obvious, but ready to play a little tune.
ReplyDeleteNow I will be looking everywhere today....you've stimulated my brain. Praying you have a great day and all is well. Hugs.
Your header and background are GORGEOUS!!! It made me so happy to see it! I did see the bunny in the tile, and LOVE the gagging box!! I did not know the name for this, really interesting! I didn't even know there was a name for it!
ReplyDeleteYes I can see the things you say the laughing shoes was hard for me to see. Tomorrow is your procedure...praying for you!
ReplyDeleteI see them and I'm glad it means that my brain is still working properly, since I just had a birthday, and some days I'm not so sure! 😉 I just caught up reading a few posts and I have to say you got me with the skunk post. I'm glad for your sake it was a joke, they are nasty! I'm sorry to hear you have to have a procedure, I'm sending prayers for a quick and easy recovery!
ReplyDeleteThis is too funny! I am the same way! It looked like there was a little face in the wood floor of our kitchen and it used to drive me crazy before we had our hardwood floors refinished haha. Hope your procedure goes well! We will be thinking about you!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great post! What a hoot. Take care.
ReplyDeleteI didn't realize this condition had a name. I always find it fun to see shapes/things in everyday objects.
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo glad you brought this up. I'm the same way ... dating all the way back to high school when I'd imagine faces in the bathroom floor. I looked it up years ago, but when I read, "a form of mental illness" I never spoke of it again.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your new header, and yes, I spotted the piano keyboard immediately.
I do this all the time. That face in the water in the first picture jumped right out at me.
ReplyDeleteThese are all so cool. I had no idea there was a word for this. I doubt that I'll ever remember it but I will continue to see things like this.
I do too--all the time.
ReplyDeleteNever knew there was a word to describe that, haha.
The face in the water in your first shot jumped right out at me, as did the piano, which I thought had been intentionally constructed to look like one. If not, what is it?
