Location and Such

Happy Groundhog Day!!  They say the verdict is in......6 more weeks of Winter.

I say it's all about location, location, location.

Our temps are expected to reach 76 degrees today and would you believe I already have some Daffodil shoots coming up?

                                💛💛💛

About yesterday:

I spent all day long in town with Trista.   Shanda joined us for the last half of the day.

What were we doing you ask?

SHOPPING........ 🛍 🛍 🛍 🛍 🛍

My purchase for the day?  2 small bottles of sterile saline solution!  My ears are pierced and they often get a little irritated with me.  I normally have to use this solution at least once a week.  This is even with 14k gold earrings.   This was our first stop...to get my solution.

Our second stop:  None other than the

"Home Goods Store!"

We looked at just about EVERYTHING in the store and we ended up purchasing Nothing!
Can you believe it?  There were so many cute Valentine and Easter dishes, figurines and cups of all kinds.  My mind kept swirling around the fact that I had just recently sent many items to Hangers of Hope to declutter our home! 😂.    As cute as some things were, I kept thinking about having to store them afterwards.

3rd Stop....Lunch

We then had a nice lunch at the restaurant, "Twelve."  I ordered an appetizer as my meal.....The Bora Bora Roll......sushi made of cream cheese, mango, cucumbers, shrimp, and rice.  Trista ordered a plate of the "Uptown Chicken" and it looked very tasty.

After lunch, we made our way to the Mall....Dillards specifically.  The huge sale was still in progress, so we shopped and shopped.
Shopping with my girls is always and adventure, but this trip was a very much needed one.
With several upcoming occasions requiring professional attire, Trista and I set out to take advantage of the big sales.  She has a full calendar this Spring, with proms, graduations and banquets, all requiring a polished wardrobe.
Just as we were making great progress, my youngest daughter (Shan) joined us.
She too, has a busy upcoming Spring, filled with professional commitments and several wedding events.
I enjoyed seeing my daughters try on outfits that made them feel empowered and capable in their jobs.
We Laughed and debated over many different styles of dresses and WE LOVED the great deals that they found.  Hey...65% off really can save you a lot of money!
More than anything, this shopping trip reminded me how much I cherish these moments with them!

My legs were very tired when we got home, but I would never tell them this.

This afternoon is Rest time for me....lol.

Count your many Blessings today!
Shug

  1. What a fun shopping day Shug! I always love a good shopping day, especially when one of the stops is Home Goods! So many cute Valentine stuff there. Your sushi roll sounds delicious. And the Uptown chicken sounds delightful. Yes, our legs AND feet get very tired, and one foot of mine starts to hurt after a while, but it's so worth it, isn't it?

Have a restful Sunday, Shug. Wishing you wonderful February days.

  2. I love starters as a main meal. No Home Goods yesterday. We did hit Target and Barnes. Today I might hit TJ Maxx. There's a Snoopy mug I wanna get Hubby. Then have a look at the kitchen stuff. Got a cutting board there the other day.

65% off. Amazing. Do you have a Label Shopper near you? Great deals.

Glad you had a fun weekend. That rocks.

  3. Well my daffodils bloomed last month - now my almond tree has blossomed. Growing up I never heard of Groundhogs Day - it just didn’t affect us here. I always thought it was an east coast thing.
I have a nickel allergy - even 14 ct has a little nickel. 18 ct or skip it. Silver is my go to or the manytypes of surgical steel. Before they had them, my ears would get horribly infected to where at one time I had to stop.
That’s nice you went shopping with your daughters. That’s special.

  4. I'm so jealous of 76 and daffodils blooms! Here it is snowing again...
Sounds like a great day, but my legs would be tired too.
I have the same issue with earrings. It seems that even the good ones irritate my ears.

  5. Wow 76 F is summer to us! I found out that I was allergic to gold so I gave up wearing jewelry completely...my ears were always sore...I then went to the stainless wires and they were better...but I have since given them up too...plain jane:)

  6. Shug, I cannot imagine anyone more fun to go shopping with than you!! But I cannot even fathom going into Home Goods and leaving with nothing. You must have very good self-control. I am waiting to go until they have more Easter things. Two of our granddaughters can only wear gold earrings.

  7. What a day you had. So wonderful to be with family and to enjoy each other's company. Great self control on the Home Goods shopping. I have to say the same thing to myself. I'm purging not gathering but oh the fight that goes on in my head.
I have a nickel allergy too and have to wear stainless steel or silver for sensitive ears. I guess its the red head genes in me that have too many allergies. (:0)
Rest those lovely legs of yours today. You deserve it.

  10. we are total opposites, but I love to hear what you do and what you are and all about your beautiful girls. sounds like fun to me... example of opposite of you and Ginny, I had never heard of Home Goods and a friend I met in Walmart said she found the perfect rug in Home Goods and told me where it was. that day I drove to visit the new Target that just opened and walked through the entire store and went next door and walked through the entire Home Goods and came home and said to Bob. I bought nothing and if anyone gave me 100 dollar gift card for HG, there was nothing in the store I would buy. and the only thing in target was the grocery part. see what I mean?
Now if I were with you and Ginny I would love to wander and watch you shop and see what you bought...

  11. Oh, my goodness you had a great day - that shopping with the girls sounded like so much fun.
I have never had sushi - but to be honest I don't want any. lol
Our groundhog saw his shadow too - it is 70 today.
I can't believe you didn't get anything at the Homegood Store.
    Hope you are resting today!

  12. Your day 'out' sounds like great fun! No matter the destination, the company we keep is what counts, don't you think?
I think there's a Home Goods nearby but I've never ventured inside... yet.
Poor Groundhog needs to come down here and look again. We're going to be close to 80 next week (*sad face*)
    Have a blessed evening!
