Happy Thanksgiving dear sweet friends. 🍁
Wow....aren't we all so very extremely Blessed?
Do you have a special Thanksgiving in your heart that you remember from long ago? I was thinking about this the other day as I was telling one of friends about it.
When I was about 8 years old....my family and I traveled to Oklahoma for Thanksgiving that year. Now mind you....we were not quite like the visiting uncle and family in National Lampoon Christmas vacation, but here we were, the family of 6, traveling to have Thanksgiving with My mom's brother & family. This was my family's first Thanksgiving away and we were more than excited. My mom and dad in the front seat along with my 4 year old brother.. It was me, my sister and my oldest brother riding in the back seat.
My uncle was a Doctor, and we had never been to visit them in their new home. It was a HUGE home....!! I'm pretty sure that at least 6 houses the size of ours back in East Texas could have fit in my uncle's home. I loved everything about that house.....the big bay window, the furniture, and the upstairs. Not just the second floor, but the third floor too.
When it came time for the Thanksgiving meal....I had never seen anything like it. It was better than the Hallmark movie Christmas dinner tables. Place settings, the whole turkey waiting to be carved, the goblets, the cloth napkins......All of it!!
This was awesome!! The best part was the amazing arrangement on the table, including a big stuffed pheasant. Also, the gorgeous dishes and all of the different kinds of veggies and salads. Beautiful Salads!! I felt like We were at a Feast!!!! I love salads!!!
I loved every minute of this special Thanksgiving, until........ UNTIL, I realized that my cousin had a pet python in his room! Of course....he wanted to bring it down for my dad to see. I think I spent the rest of the day OUTSIDE. I didn't ever want to go back inside. What a wonderful time our family had........ I learned respect for the safety in our small home......with no pythons!!!

Thanksgiving is more than just a date on the calendar or a FEAST at the table. We all know that Thanksgiving is about gratitude. For me, one of the greatest joys of Thanksgiving is the opportunity to be with my family and friends. As I take a moment here this morning to reflect on the joy of the day, I am reminded of the many friends that bring so much light and inspiration into my life. To all of you, I wish a day filled with laughter, love, and peace. May your hearts be full, your tables abundant, and your memories joyful....
Happy Thanksgiving.
