There were several rows of Pear trees and each one of them was weighted down with fresh pears. I can't wait for the persimmons to get ready!!
I knew this was going to be a week of canning Pear Relish and making Pear Preserves....and I can truthfully say, it is so rewarding to see all those beautiful jars, filled with goodness....on the shelfs in my pantry.
The first batch yielded.......6 quarts! Two benefits from the Tumeric that is used in this recipe is......The color is beautiful and the Tumeric is good for our health.
I have about 6 more batches to go this week..
The end result.......The most delicious Pear Relish, ready to be used in many different ways!
I'm going to add jalepeno peppers to some of the next jars and see if we like the "bite" that the peppers will give.
We love eating this relish on Fresh peas and beans. It is also great served on top of a baked potato, with a dollop of sour cream as well.
I don't think I could ever make TOO MUCH of this stuff......
Pear Relish and Salsa......you can never have too much!!
Have a Blessed Day...
shug.
I have never heard of this kind of relish. It is really beautiful, and the jars look like autumn! You must be a fabulous cook!
ReplyDeleteThat is a new relish to me, but then, living where the pears are a high price, we just didn't use them much. Looks lovely.
ReplyDeleteWe have several pear trees and like to eat them fresh. I will admit that some go to the deer plot! Your relish looks beautiful, Shug!
