This Labor Day weekend is nearing an end. We still have a family cookout to go to. Yum.....Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, chips, dips, relish trays, desserts and best of all, SWEET ICED TEA!
After Labor Day:
Now....there is that dilemma!! Do you know the one I'm talking about? It's the "Can't wear white" mental thing!!
When I was growing up....the rule was: No White in your wardrobe after Labor day. Where do you think this crazy rule came from? I have no idea myself. This is a topic that I need to investigate for my own knowledge.
In Texas....we wear BOOTS any time of the year! Summer, Fall, Winter and Spring.
This summer, I've seen lots of women and girls wearing those cute little booties with the fringe.....to complete their outfit of shorts or a sundress!
And you know me....I wear my cute flip flops with jeans in the Winter time!! So....I suppose the old rules have all been broken.
I intend to wear my white when I want to. How bout you??
Shug!
I'm not stuck on some of these rules. As long as it's decent I will wear it when I want to.Being from Manitoba, the sandals have to be put away soon, just gets too cold.
ReplyDeleteLOVE your pumpkin header! Yes, I would for sure like to know how this rule came about! It does not allow for personal style! What about white sneakers? People wear them all year round! As for me, I will wear my white jeans any day that it is really hot. Call me a rebel. Remember way back when you could only wear one item with print? Everything else had to be a solid color. And never wear both gold and silver jewelry. Both these rules no longer apply. I guess the white will be the last to go.
ReplyDeleteHi Shug!
ReplyDeleteI think that is a silly rule, white is always in fashion...summer, winter spring or fall...😊 I love boots, they are very popular here in Idaho! And, just between you and me...I wear flip flops in the winter as well, snow and all...only in the house.
Hope your party was awesome!!
Hugs,
Barb
I wear what I like when I want. To be happy, and be a good person, is most important!
ReplyDeleteSame thing. All us Texas and Southern gals were raised on the same book of dressing etiquette. No White Till After Labor Day! I haven't a white thing in my wardrobe anyway. White attracts barbeque sauce like trailer parks attract tornadoes. ;) My feet no longer like boots. Sad!
ReplyDeleteMe too! I wear whatever I feel like whenever I feel like it. Some rules are just "silly."
