Taking the Opportunity to.......

Hi to all... I was sitting at the hospital today with our daughter (Shanda) while her husband Tom was having foot surgery. As I looked around the huge waiting area, I saw all kinds of emotions on different people's faces. Some were smiling as they visited with family and friends........others had a more intense look as if to acknowledge that they were worried about their loved ones that were in surgery at the time. There were sighs of relief, as doctor after doctor met with families to deliver the news that surgery went well. I also saw people gathered around, holding hands as they prayed for a loved one. But, there was this one particular lady that captured my eyes... She was a frail looking lady with hair that had slightly been neglected. I would guess that she was in her mid to upper 80's and she looked as if the years had taken quite a toll on her fair skin. Have you ever smiled at someone, only to receive a blank stare in return? I wasn't sure as to whether or not this lady had even noticed my smile, or was she staring right past me? My heart was telling me to speak, but my mind was telling me that this lady would rather be left alone. It's in times like these, that we need to trust the Holy Spirit to guide us. I took the opportunity, as I got up to grab a cup of coffee, to walk past her and to say Good Morning. As she glanced up at me, I could see that her eyes were full of tears. I ask her if I could pray with her for whatever was causing her to have a heavy heart. I immediately saw that she was welcoming my prayers. She said Yes, that she would be happy to have me pray with her. She didn't have to tell me what her worries were about....all she needed was for me to pray with her. I prayed for her to have peace and for God to heal whatever was causing her to carry a heavy burden. She thanked me and she expressed to me how lonely she felt, because she and her husband had no family near by. Her husband was in surgery and she was so worried about him and about how well he would do after surgery. We chatted for a moment and I assured her that God was in control. I told her to Trust in God and that HE would see them through. I pray that she and her husband are able to rest well tonight. God is always looking for ways to bless us, and I was certainly Blessed today. Shug...
